I work as a paramedic and I always feel silly mouthing out/texting serious issues with patients. I'm going to practice these daily and know for a fact that it will make someone's emergency less stressful. Thank you!

Good lesson, practice! I picked up "pain" and "im sorry" as well as "help".
The more the better, you display the sign very good, slow and clear. Don't stop what you're doing PLEASE!

This is very important!! I wish more health care professionals picked up basic signs and were more knowledgeable about communicating with people who do not use their voice. This is still a BIG problem in healthcare. Everything is so centered around verbal communication. Thank you for your work on this ❤

Thank you SO much!!! I'm learning ASL right now and this will be so helpful if any dangerous situation happens with a deaf person, especially with a deaf person. I've already learned the alphabet and taking an ASL class in my highschool. AGAIN TYSM.

You are doing a great service to the world! I'm happy to pick up a few words, and remember how to sign them correct. But I will remember what they mean. What a clean break down!

I went to a school with a lot of deaf students, I had to learn sign to talk to the girls 😉
Many years later I had a daughter and her mother and I agreed to teach her baby sign language and progressed a little from there. Yelling at your kid in sign is a lot quieter 😂 , “no you can’t have all the candy or no you don’t need another doll baby”. Anyway, she took sign language classes in middle and high school. She is now almost qualified to be an interpreter. I’m very proud of that.

You're awesome and thank you for the demonstration! The more people know, the more people may be able to help if the time comes!

I'm curious: is the pain sign only right when signed with both hands? If yes: How do you show you've got pain in your hands?
Great and important video. Even though I don't think I'll ever need it, because in my country people normally use DGS instead of ASL

Hey there! I love your personality, after watching a few videos. i've been learning for a year now, but I'm French, and learning the french sign language. It's different but many signs appear to be only minor variations. Looking forward to be more comfortable with LSF to then learn a bit of ASL :) Also I'm not deaf, but I see so much value in sign language. It's been a game changer with my autistic friend who learned it too, and it's much easier to communicate, much less overwhelming. I also love the idea to expand accessibility, if I'm ever in a public facing position :)
    Cheers from France!

This is ir calling...u need to keep doing asl even with ur implant...i work with people who are deaf and its a great idea to put this video out. I am going to suggest that this video is part of our training because its extremely important and u do the best job of showing and explaining the signs. Also, u are very easy on the eyes and ur over emphasized expressions are cute and helpful instead of being weird and annoying like if i was to make those faces lol. U are beautiful tho I m sure u know this already just wanted to give u a strong reminder.

I would gladly watch this woman sign the entire New York phonebook, somehow she rolled natural 20's in both looks and charisma!

This is not taugtet in first aid classes.
I don’t recall any of my first aid classes where I were told about it.
Will definitely notify the instructor next time I attend a first aid class

Sign language is not universal, right? Since I live in Germany, the signs you show in the video probably do not apply to Germans, I'd assume. Something people should be aware of.

    • @thalia4252

Asl stands for American Sign Language which is stated in the title. I would guess there's a German sign language as well

    • @oneplate6489
      @oneplate6489 Місяць тому

@@thalia4252 Yep! DGS (Deutsche Gebärdensprache) is used in Germany (+Belgium & Luxembourg).
Fun fact: ASL is in the LSF (French sign languages) family, but BSL (British) isn't, even though English is the main spoken language in both. This has interesting historical reasons, if that's the kind of thing you're into.
