This always comes up with Minecraft updates and the mob votes. Because you get the community picking one of three things you are always gonna have a large amount of people mad they didn't get what they thought was best. I've always thought this was the way to go. Just release the update you have, don't overpromise, don't wind people up with ideas of what could've been, just do the update. I think the crossing behind the stairs of the subway station is intentional. The station close to my house looks like that. You don't want the stairs to be blocked by a crowd, waiting for a green light, so if the pavement under the platform is narrow, you either place the crossing further away or behind the stairs.
I think they could also add a few more trains as the ones we have now are an intercity one (the new one) and a high capacity double decker, i would like to see some small trains for more rural lines. Also same assets with less wagons would be cool.
When I saw that Urban Highschool, I thought to myself: we need more assets that actually clip over roads with inter-building bridges. Would be really cool to have a high density hospital that has buildings on both sides of the road that are connected. Or a train station that goes perpendicularly over a road.
Many cold climates in North America have Skywalks all over their downtown between office buildings. Would be awesome to see that implemented as well for additional realism.

the canopy parking lot works really well in a high-ish low density/low-ish medium density development where you wouldn't necessarily have parking facilities in your building, that happens alot in europe where you'll have a garage/parking complex for residents of a development
That covered canopy parking is going to be really useful whenever they have desert maps. I live in southern Nevada, and my apartment complex is almost all covered parking.

15:36 STRONG Deus Ex vibes with the homeless in the park with a burning barrel, it's just missing a child asking a guy in a trenchcoat and shade for something to eat.
The addition of these small buildings will make early game easier than it currently is with the new economy. Looks like I need to start a new city to give these a try! The addition of surfaces is also really exciting. I know it’s been part of a mod for a while, but I like to keep my cities fairly vanilla.

@@Recognice1 they have to let you buy them on board because of these stations yeah, they're without ticket machines at all, they do have validators if you've got a prepaid transit card or a pass
I've actually seen those canopy parking lots at 21:00 as a part of larger apartment complexes/co-ops, especially ones that were built in the late 70's and early 80's.
The Large Concrete with Tree and hedge... common thing for Skyliner people to stand around as their is no zebra crossing for them to get off the round about.
i like that they added a popular detailing tool (the custom surfacing) to the vanilla game for free. I'm not planning to go back to the game yet but this is pretty promising and i hope they keep this momentum for future updates. Also the canopy parking lot looks like it could fit next to offices or schools. They look "corporate" to me.
This could be the update that finally gets me to buy the game. These new assets are HUGE for the type of cities I want to build. Combined with the surface tool this makes me excited that making cities that look the way I want will actually be feasible.
Awesome, the surface thing was something I wanted ever since S:C came out. The only really good feature in Cities XL. Also very happy about small services. With the new tile costs it's much harder to get service coverage without adding lots of density very early and it felt like it really restricted the ways you can design cities.
i think this was desperately needed for the economy 2.0 update. it really has you min-maxing your services which i think is quite great as it forces you to think and plan ahead. but that was very difficult since especially healthcare is insanely pricey early-game and the service budgets dont scale the building's efficiency linearly so actually having smaller and cheaper options is a godsend! I really hope they add a ui element to show employees too in the future, they're the biggest expense most of the time and there's no way to know that right now (apart from just knowing how many employees any given building requires!)
This, combined with the Economy 2.0 patch, modding support and custom maps, actually makes me want to start playing the game again! My only thing is once my city surpasses around 25,000 people, my CPU starts to go over 70Celsius. Needa overhaul my system cooling + look into a newer CPU before I start thinking about trying to push into building larger cities
That new MEDIUM SIZE Railway Station is awesome! It really looks like so many Train Stations in Urban Sydney, Australia. Perfect patch, can't wait for what is next!
@@bmendez3782 I believe they are referring to the fact that Paradox, the publisher, are not the ones improving the game, but rather Collosal Order, the developer.
Now I'm actually considering giving CS2 a chance. Actual content (that should have been in from launch but alright, progress is progress) being added on top of the patches. Hoping they continue to work on the game and bringing more stuff asked by the community like what you covered today. Great video :)
I want to be able to choose what asset spawns when I’m zoning. At least a way to randomize assets spawning. It just breaks any immersion when you see three of the same buildings next to each other.
The problem is that there aren't just enough assets for a lot size. There's mostly just one asset, and it's five levels per lot size. Hopefully, they will get expanded soon.
Yes, but beyond that, when a restaurant spawns instead of a gas station, I don’t want to have to play whacamole. Maybe a drop down list to select the kind of asset on the lot? And they should also bring back the ‘make historic’ button
@@Green_Lightning What I personally dislike is that for one of the european mixed-use sizes - 3*4 to be exact - we have a colorful modern building for level 1 and 2 that upgrades to an older building at 3 to 5. I can't even build a modern wall-to-wall neighbourhood without it turning into a historical center and it kinda stinks
What a great video and thanks for sharing, I didn't even know this was released! Now this is the Colossal Order I remember from CS1 that put their love and care into making a great game with great assets and tools. CS2 is starting to show it's true colours and I'm all here for it.

Really thought we'd have to wait 'til after the long summer break for this one. Great stuff, super useful assets, love it. CO feel like they're really turning this around, finally.
The surface painter is a gamechanger for me: this is the one thing Cities XL had that I was waiting to see here for so long. This will make so many commercial zones look more natural.
Hey what you mentioned at 22:30 I think a lot of people would agree on. I know at least for me thinking as a mid rise multi family developer having the parking behind the buildings and keeping the road fronts walkable is super desirable and it would be cool to see you incorporate it more into the builds.
This is exactly what the game needed, Its kind of crazy to look back and see they released this game with so few variations of something like the parks
Living in the suburbs outside NYC, the new train stations are perfect. Cities and towns over in CT have both just simple tracks with a few ticket machines, we have a bit more with inside seating, and some with maybe Dunkin attached. So this is spot on what works in my builds.
Wow! The smaller assets (and without ugly roads in them) are so nice! The assets look good and leave room for the player to be creative and decorate them individually and uniquely! The vanilla ability to change the surfaces is amazing too - I haven’t bought the game yet but this patch may be the one that does it (now I just need s new computer first haha). Shoutout to the developers for making strides in the right direction! And thanks to Phil for sharing this info! (In the future I hope they make all the additions able to be added to any building - for instance the sports complex/playground should be able to added to any school)
21:04 The canopy-covered parking lot...I could see THAT one backing on row homes, with an alley behind them that the parking lot faces on, except that it's a bit wide (the planters in front). It reminds me of something I'd expect to see in some apartment complexes, though.
If you see this, the covered parking lot would be a great use for a campus area. One of the major colleges near me has a lot that is fully comprised of covered parking.
Great update and discussion. I am really enthused about the elevated stations. And with the new detailing tools, I just have to determine what detailing mods I no longer need.
Now this is jaw dropping, urban elementary school was one of my favorite assets in the first game and to see it official now is so good. I can't believe we can edit the plots like that, and the elevated metro station I was certain would be part of a DLC.
I'm so happy that this team is dedicated to improving the state of this game! I've trusted them for the 8 years before this game, and seeing updates like this keeps that going. I will definitely be jumping back into the game again tonight as a result, thanks team!
Thank goodness for the small medical clinic! I just started playing CS2 after the Economy 2.0 update and I don't know all the tips and tricks for balancing a budget. My first big hurdle in all my towns was the medical clinic. It literally took up half my budget and drove me into the ground. To top it all off, it supported way more people than I ever needed (at the time). I'll come back now and hopefully be able to get my modest skills of the ground this time.
I just came back to CS2 yesterday to test new economy patch, and started a new city after almost 6 months of not playing it. And today we have this new amazing patch! I think it is very useful and adds a lot more fun to the game, looking forward to replace all my expensive and big schools with new, smaller ones haha
thank you for this video, so informative! love the updates to the game, i'm hoping for more versatile underground crossing subway stations, like mega hubs. the vanilla ones are pretty limiting when designing major subway hubs and networks
That ground texture stretchy thing looks great. That first home on the corner, put a privacy fence around it. Add a playground asset/pool and now that home has its own backyard with the same manicured lawn Not every home would have it but if you making an extremely wealthy neighbourhood. Yes!! They are turning it around!
It's so crazy, San Francisco has the same homeless bug, can't believe they haven't patched that out yet.
9 DAYS? NINE DAYS?!
@@AutieTortie no shit sherlock
@@AutieTortie I guess we all think that too. But still, better now than never.
"Ticket machines in the real world speed up boarding"
lol, that one surprised me alot. I guess the U.S. is a different place for trains ^^
Here In the Lisbon metro area there are a couple of stations without tickets hehe
@@truedarklander But can you buy them after you have boarded? Where I live, you need to have a valid ticket before entering a train. Or else you have commit a crime
@@Recognice1 they have to let you buy them on board because of these stations yeah, they're without ticket machines at all, they do have validators if you've got a prepaid transit card or a pass
In Helsinki, I haven't had a paper ticket in my hand for at least in ten years.
I'm still waiting for the console release, but man, these updates make me even more hyped! The surface painter was my dream in C1
And just in time for my week-long PTO. Well done, team. Thank you for putting this video together, this is very useful.
i like that they added a popular detailing tool (the custom surfacing) to the vanilla game for free. I'm not planning to go back to the game yet but this is pretty promising and i hope they keep this momentum for future updates. Also the canopy parking lot looks like it could fit next to offices or schools. They look "corporate" to me.
Wow, finally. My dreams came true!!
thanks for the update vid and detailed breakdown. Very nice of you and very helpful.
Wow this changes the game. Huge update. Would love to throw a mural up on that urban elementary school’s wall to wall design
That style of covered parking lots are super common here in BC where I live. You always see them in apartment complexes.
i think this was desperately needed for the economy 2.0 update. it really has you min-maxing your services which i think is quite great as it forces you to think and plan ahead. but that was very difficult since especially healthcare is insanely pricey early-game and the service budgets dont scale the building's efficiency linearly so actually having smaller and cheaper options is a godsend!
I really hope they add a ui element to show employees too in the future, they're the biggest expense most of the time and there's no way to know that right now (apart from just knowing how many employees any given building requires!)
A nice and much needed surprise update. Loving the new assets and the detailing additions. Can't wait to upgrade my city with the new assets.
Wow, that is a ton of new assets. Way to go Paradox. You're killing it.
Redemption arc in progress?
paradox isnt doing shit, they're the whole reason this game released in the state it did. colossal order are the ones killing it
@@ubahnilol wow no matter how many times they're trying their best to fixed the game y'all always still complaining.
@@bmendez3782 I believe they are referring to the fact that Paradox, the publisher, are not the ones improving the game, but rather Collosal Order, the developer.
@@bmendez3782 colossal is doing amazing, paradox is not
Now I'm actually considering giving CS2 a chance.
@@ace0071000 Clearly the buildings are aging over time!
What a great video and thanks for sharing, I didn't even know this was released! Now this is the Colossal Order I remember from CS1 that put their love and care into making a great game with great assets and tools. CS2 is starting to show it's true colours and I'm all here for it.
I was on the fence, this update was what I needed to reinstall the game again.
This game is slowly getting good, I think we should all be hopeful for this game game again. It was really not ever the developers most likely pushing out the game in its early state but the financers behind it that rushed it out
Wow, smart move not annoucing the patch. Did they finally learn it's better to do this than to announce something and miss the date? And there's a lot of useful stuff here too. Seems like they are really trying.
I audibly gasped when you added the extension to the urban elementary school, and the playground at the back, I have never loved an asset more! Colossal Order is winning my heart back with this patch
Oooh my god i was just morning scrolling, then your videoo title made me perk up.
I keppt scroolling while listening and at "zonable rooundabouts" i just risen like an anime character that just got alerted by something
Edit: surface painter? MORE ASSETS? SCHOOLS CLINICS...
Do i have time to eat breakfast or am i opening my save first..?
Do a big breakfast, so stay can stay on save past lunch
I've been playing less than a week and trying to discover the game for myself rather than get too many clues from UA-cam. This video really feels like it brought me into the community and I LOVE your positivity. I'm getting some vibes now that you can really use this game more like a casual play set rather than it being a really constant grind to meet citizen demands and I am really liking that vibe, with you talking about different types of builds and whatnot.
thank god the office bug is fixed
Best Patch so far IMO. Adds actual content and functionality and not just fixes a broken game. Hope we will see more of it! Also wish they finally fix Solar Panel bateries not working during the night. This bug is known since 1.0
homeless people are not a bug, they are a fact of life.
I haven't played much CS2 since launch, but this patch seems like a huge win.
CO who give us the cheap town service AFTER making the economy harder... bruh. Better late than never i guess
This is amazeballs! What a great find in my YT feed tonight! I don't even know where to begin on the things I liked "best"
Thank you!! I feel like they're listening to creators like you and taking this game in the right direction. Honestly, based on all the issues, I haven't wanted to play CSII. That's changing.
Love these additions! TY Colossal!
Love these new assets so much! Thanks for the detailed descriptions!
i always appreciate your city planner facts. its nice to know things like that. 4:19 will make the lots look more realistic i think thats amazing! i still wish the lots weren't grid only though.
LOVE these new assets! Thanks for such a detailed review of them. Cannot wait to play ... so happy tomorrow is a holiday so I can play to my hearts content. 😀
Really thought we'd have to wait 'til after the long summer break for this one. Great stuff, super useful assets, love it. CO feel like they're really turning this around, finally.
This patch has instantly bought me back into the game. Played it every day when I can after work this whole week!
You can tell that CO is catching up with this update. WOW! This is the company we fell in love with.
This is exactly what the game needed, Its kind of crazy to look back and see they released this game with so few variations of something like the parks
Now this is more like what I've been expecting since release. Some seriously nice and useful stuff!
CPP following a long standing tradition of saying something we can all see is false 13:50 😂
I love you Philip don't ever change
Exactly what I was hoping for in one big patch!!! Well done to the devs!
Absolutely fantastic update, that terrain editor has me excited!!
This is a great boon! The differing scales of so many assets is refreshing and great!
Now this is jaw dropping, urban elementary school was one of my favorite assets in the first game and to see it official now is so good. I can't believe we can edit the plots like that, and the elevated metro station I was certain would be part of a DLC.
I can’t wait to buy this game next year when there are more updates and the mods are better
These new assets look great, and I love that it diversifies the ways in which a city can be built! Big cudos to the dev team for making this happen!!
thank you for this video, so informative! love the updates to the game, i'm hoping for more versatile underground crossing subway stations, like mega hubs. the vanilla ones are pretty limiting when designing major subway hubs and networks
That ground texture stretchy thing looks great. That first home on the corner, put a privacy fence around it. Add a playground asset/pool and now that home has its own backyard with the same manicured lawn
Not every home would have it but if you making an extremely wealthy neighbourhood. You can now design what looks like its part of the plot with less mods
Cities Skylines is back! All of these look so good, I hope we get more of these goody drops in the future
4:33 I literally gasped, that sooooo awesome, I love it
This update is really great. I think i have to start a new city today :) - Thank you for the information. Hadn't touched the game in the future without you.
