  • These commercials aired on WLVI on October 25th, 1988. I realize the quality here is kind of garbage, but I did what I could considering the original source. Viewer beware!
    1. "Halloween II" Intro

    3. The Golden Voice of Frank Patterson

    17. Coors Extra Gold
    18. Promo for "Child Care: Everybody's Baby"

Lifeforce! Holy cow I love that movie. I wonder how they got around all the nudity on cable...
God I'm addicted to these commercial videos, thank you so much for all the effort you put into posting these.

I bet they just "pan'n'scan" zoomed around the shots ...back then a movie on tv meant cropped/zoomed/edited, no full frame widescreen unless you went to the theaters

Omg I grew up watching WLVI! This is full of gems. I remember that JB’s Smokeshop commercial. I always wondered if the inside of the smoke shop was the same as the commercial and it terrified me. Jack Hynes, question 2, changing area codes-such simpler times! I remember this was the same channel that “Creature Double Feature” was on on Saturday afternoons.

Yet another great channel to binge! Dinosaur Dracula brought me here and I can't be happier.

5:14 - I kind of miss it how movie commercials used to show audience reaction after the film was over. Sure it was cheesy, and I'm sure they were largely scripted (I highly doubt anyone was THIS scared by Child's Play as the woman hiding her face appears to be), but it was usually fun.

I only very recently watched Child's Play for the first time and it is one of the best slashers of the 1980's. It's fantastic! As for Lifeforce, I think this TV station might have made some edits to the movie to remove the nudity, possibly blurring the picture.

I dunno about the rest of this volume, but I'm up to the commercial for that Frank Patterson album and I can safely say this is the spookiest upload of them all!
EDIT: Actually, this may sound dumb but I think the combination of weird, subtle video/audio quirks throughout and the intentionally/unintentionally ominous commercials along with the spots and promos for real horror movies actually DOES produce a nice, slow-burn creepiness so hell, maybe I wasn't too far off. x) Very good, interesting upload though. I kinda wanna check out "Lifeforce" now from that promo alone.

"Lifeforce" is a pretty amazing slice of 80's sci-fi/horror and the gore/practical effects in it are top notch.

I understand the area code frustration. Az assigned new area codes about 10 years ago. We went from 2 to 5 of them. It was frustrating at first, but we got used to it.

This poor vhs. I swear people always think they are like this now. They Live is one the highlights. Time Life music offers... classic ads that make you shake your head.

I really had no idea changing area codes was such a big deal!
It's just *3* digits! (which we never needed to enter back then, anyway.)

    Store 24..... WHUT?
I also had no idea the Syms clothing chain was also in New England, they were an institution in the New York area for years.

Don't know the name, but the music in the WLVI bumper is the same as Norfolk CW (then independent) station WGNT used for their bumpers the first year or so after switching to those calls from WYAH after Pat Robertson sold the station.

People got mad they changed the area code, there are 5 of them in South Florida, 305 786 954 754 561.
