    Appreciate the transparency. 👍 I am confident your investment strategy will improve over time, and your investments reap good harvest! I also put some money into STI when I was younger. Have been slowly scaling down those into SG banks and SREITs (the few higher quality ones imo). Most of my portfolio still in US equities, some in China, SSB as spare cash.

      Haha actually the annualised returns isn’t too great. But given it’s only 2 years I guess it’s quite unimportant until nearer to retirement. Thanks for the comment!

    My two cents about the on-screen text for info you're showing,
    would be more informative to show stuff like % change, % change p.a. without compounding (or APR), held duration, lump or DCA, your personal goal/reason for buying that specific stock/fund/etc
    I know most of it is mentioned verbally but it'll be clearer if its listed on screen and especially at the final summary page

      For two years the annualised returns are actually not very good 😅 But given this is meant for my long-term goals the short-term returns are not so relevant. I’m 35 this year.

    If your portfolio is boring.... mine is much worse off. 😂 im quite kiasi in a way and held about 80% bonds for some 8 yrs. Only in the last 3 years from 2021 did i diverdify & go into reits thinking it would provide a good source of passive income. Big mistake for the reits as im now sitting on like 200K of losses mainly from manulife, kepacoak, ARA hospitality & Ireit. (Some smaller losses in the local ones like mapletree stable of companies). So yah.... im building back my bond holdings and basically written off my losses in reits (hopefully can recover some over time). Whatever i earned from my bonds in 8 yrs (avg ~7% coupons per yr) practically wiped out. 😢 So do consider corporate bonds (not the pathetic SSBs) as they do give good passive income of above 6% if done correctly with leverage.

    Nice video, especially about the ad-hoc investing. I started investing in stocks in the last two years, also ad-hoc. Since I have a day job, just like you, sometimes I also missed the buying opportunity or sometimes too scared to get it when the market dropped. I am still learning and quite happy that I made some profit this year.

    hi, i've just read about a 30% withholding tax on the dividends if investing into the S&P 500
    is this 30% negligible? even with the WH tax and the fx rates, do we still earn more?
    rather than solely focusing on SG markets?

    • @Sethisfy
      @Sethisfy  Рік тому +1

      Dividend yield of S&P 500 is about 1.5-2%. So you are tax about 30% of that. Depending on the size of your portfolio it may be quite significant.
      Even so S&P 500 growth in the recent decade has outpaced SG markets by a lot. Whether or not it’ll continue is a call you have to make since this is not personal financial advice.
      If you’re concerned with the withholding tax there are also Ireland domiciled ETF for S&P 500. Roboadvisers should help manage such tax, but you are also paying them their fee.

For example Infinity Global Stock Index Fund Class C (world large and mid cap) and Infinity U.S 500 Stock Index Fund - can buy through FSMOne or Endowus.
