Why do I feel like I'm watching a PBS show from the 90s? The video quality is reminiscent of that era and you know what I really dig it it is definitely not a bad thing.
I’m a little late to the game. Wasn’t sure if there was custom firmware available. This video covered everything I would be interested in. Thank you Lon for the great research.
Definitely looking into getting a Mega SG sometime in the future, I have a Sony HD smart TV up in the bedroom and need one of these for that perfect picture quality through HDMI, money is the problem at the moment. I'm currently using a Mega Drive model 2 system hooked up to it which will do for now but the picture quality isn't very good through composite AV.
From what I'm hearing that will not be possible.. It would be great to see a modern device that could plug into that port and work with a BIOS on the SG to load in the CD games.
It would be great to see more classic golden age console cores released for the Sg. I love the Atari 2600, 7800, and those are hard to get to look good on modern displays.
Yeah, I was really hoping we'd see some of those 20 Kevtris "Bonus Cores™" on the Super Nt, since I bought the AVS instead of the Nt Mini, but it never happened. I figured they wanted to use them in future stand alone Analogue systems. I understand the SMS, GG, SG-1000 cores for the Mega Sg, but the ColecoVision seems odd. I'm not complaining mind you! That gives me hope that we may see the others make their way over to the Sq, but maybe he added the CV only because it's so similar to the SG-1000 hardware. Both of those even being part of the Telegames Dina console. It has slots for both SG-1000 and ColecoVision carts. I think it would be nice and I don't really see Analogue making stand alone consoles for those older cores.
Hopefully we will see a "CopyNES" style addition so we can dump carts. Then I can truly put my Super Magic Drive (Mega Drive copier and floppy diskette drive) away for good. :)
I really want to play “willy beamish” again but it’s such a slow point and click. Is it possible that this system would be quicker or is that slowness built into the game its self?
Thanks man! Your video really helps a lot. Thank you very much. One question, if I jailbreak my mega sg is possible to go back to the oficial firmware?
I was reading somewhere that the Bluetooth pad had considerably more input lag than the Joyzz and the other 8Bitdo 2.4G version. Not sure the exact type of tests that were run.
The test doesn't state which Firmware versions were used on the BT models of the M30 and the Retro Receiver. For me it's working just fine and the 240p Suite Shows Shows almost no latency.
Pier Solar the 64 mb rpg works on this but not the Mega EverDrive X7 so I use this solely for that rom and game gear. I'm not willing to pay $400 CAD for a cart of it so I don't feel bad playing the rom lol.
Oh, I wouldn't feel too badly! Watermelon, and Fonzie in particular, are thieves. I, and many others ordered and paid for Paprium, a brand new Sega Genesis/MD fighting game which looked a lot like Streets of Rage. This was 2 years ago, and he's since taken everyone's money and gone into hiding.. He didn't even pay others he had hired to work on it. So screw WM.
I would love to have one of these just to put it up against the Kega Fusion emulator which emulates Master System, Sega CD, and the 32X. I've been hard pressed to find any differences other than much higher sound and picture quality against my actual Genesis. Digital Foundry screwed up their comparison.

30+ ms of lag sounds terrible!, that is nearly 2+ frames of lag... for retro games that is SLOW... I play the Mega SG on the 1080P TV that has less than 13ms lag (less than a frame), and my gaming monitor has less than 5ms lag, or basically instant... these consoles are basically unacceptable on a 4k display.
Getting to know me, getting to know me :D Great video!!
I knew u 😁 be cuz you are the one who uploaded all Sega Genesis games for mega ED in theisozone 👍 its long time ago when theisozone was alive😂

Please do a video on how to compile from smokemonster's database lists
Wow, this feels like an 'infomercial' from the early 90's but in today-times! wow

Thank you for button lag test!
Can't wait for Stadia button lag test LOL
If you run games off an SD card, is it using emulation at all or is it still using legitimate hardware?
Your channel is a good mix between serious analysis and comic relief. Excellent as always👌

Do you think it'll ever be possible to run Sega CD roms on this thing?
From what I'm hearing that will not be possible.. It would be great to see a modern device that could plug into that port and work with a BIOS on the SG to load in the CD games.
doomguy you kinda can with a MegaSD, but that runs an extra 260$

They did that on the NT Mini - it would be great to see those cores added to the Mega and Super NT too.

Please let me know when the Ultracore rom is available.
Can you PLLEAAASE do a video tut on how to get the everdrive rom packs? They are hidden behind python
Is the fpga on this the same as the MISTer? couldnt it be modded to also play nes, snes and segacd games without the addon?
Lon.Tv how to use jailbreak system? It's too hard for me and download some games too
does the mega sg overwrite the old sega cd bios or is it loaded into ram? i doubt it since it was permanent chip
Great review!! I'll be getting 2 sent to a friend in the US who will forward to UK, so no ripoff UK Taxes!!
It's almost like the manufacturer is leaking the jailbreak or making it really easy to do so.
Nothing wrong with that.
It won’t harm their profit margin by doing so, it will only increase sales of their systems!
late to seeing this.... now I want to get one. I just got my de-10, gonna work on that soon, but I like the console look of the analog consoles
Amazing! How about Sega 32x?
Does it play both .bin and .md files for the genesis? Also can it play sega cd games from the sd card?
Thanks!
Thank you! But what happens after this jailbreak with future firmware updates by the Analogue Team? Is this not possible anymore after the break?
Jailbreak firmware generally mirrors the official release.
@@LonSeidman So you always have to repeat the jailbreak after the official firmware download?
Do I need a bios for game gear and master system games?
No it should work without the bios.

That’s definitely due to the game. That was a DOS PC game too it’ll run faster through dosbox.
You are really trying to get me to dust off my ROM stash and start retro gaming
Thanks man! Your video really helps a lot. Thank you very much.
One question, if I jailbreak my mega sg is possible to go back to the oficial firmware?
Yes you can easily revert back just by loading in the official firmware. The jail break though is based on the official.
So will it use pristine simulation with games on an SD card?
The GG games sounded really clear
Someone needs to make a cool shroud for the Mega SG so when it’s sitting on a Sega CD It doesn’t look so ridiculous
Man I want this so bad. I still have my original genesis model 2.

Do you think?
There's no 32x support... So how is this a clone exactly? That should be as obligatory as the Sega CD.
I'll pass.
SamuelStrikesBack probably adding all the AV connections would add a lot of extra cost such as what happened with the NT mini.
What a mess! I just wanna plug and play!
