dude wtf? Straight to the point? No ads, no nonsense? Are you for real? Such a guide in 2024? Wow, I've been following everything you've said and it just worked amazingly! Thank you so much! The moment everything worked, I liked the video and subscribed to the channel. I wish there were more channels like yours that speak directly without wasting time. Thanks again!!! Wow.. I still can't believe this....
I’m new to a Mac and had no idea how to get my important files from my windows to it. I was told to download the Migration Assistant, but it was not working at all. Your instructions were very clear and I have successfully moved the files I need! Thank you!
Thank you! I've used both Mac and PC for a long time now, but the way we do this connection changes often. The mapping feature was exactly what I needed. It wasn't there the last time I used Windows. Excellent video!
Thanks, this was super helpful. Other tutorials say you just have to turn on file sharing and then the Mac should appear in the PC's network locations. They all leave out the step mapping the network drive.
Ditto to what @jibbymcbeet said. With the network mapping shown I'll be able to get the setup completed. Other tutorials don't even mention the process at all.

Wuauuu you're absolutely the best. I tried with 4 different videos. I was about ti give up but I decided to watch your video and give it a goal. Your video was the easiest and the best to set up everything!! Thank you so much for your amazing work!
Just wanted to give a shout out of THANKS to you. Appreciate the tutorial and was able to finally set up sharing between my Mac and Windows 11 PC... Cheers m8!
That was great. Thanks for the time in making that video. One thing that stumped me was my windows machine couldn't map the macbook drive....until I restarted the Mac. Then it worked perfectly. Hope this might help someone else.
Thank you. I've referenced this video a few times since I only have to do this once in a blue moon and I appreciate the simple straight forward information.
I was looking for specific advice and I found it! I don't know if anything else will be needed on this channel, but I'm so grateful that I subscribed as a gesture of thanks just to thank you for such a great working solution!
I didn’t understood why you have written "WINDOWS", when you connected to the MAC folder, which you have created before. It didn’t work for me. But it worked to write "MAC" after the IP address(or other name, given to the folder on Mac). Nevertheless, it was a great tutorial. Thanks!
Yeah i didnt get y you typed WINDOWS when the actual share file created was mac…what is the WINDOWS file you typed after the ip address, could u please explain how
Worked! Fantastic!!! I have an old 2011 iMac running Monterey and while the interface is a little different it's the same principles and it just worked and I'm so grateful because I use the iMac to create video but like to move it to Camtasia on my PC to edit. Thank you!!
I was struggling for getting them to work! Some years ago Mac & Win systems could "see" each other files in the network window, but with the most recent updates, not anymore. This worked perfectly!
thank you so much, have been fideling with file sharing for what must been an hour. With cables and network sharing in different configurations. This is the video that finally solved it.
If you have problem with wrong password, it's not always problem with pass but also with login. In mac on sharing window right click on user, click information, look at the "where" section, there is how you should write your user as login in windows.
This is such a straightforward tutorial, thank you so much! The first time I followed this the file share worked with no problem, however now that I have returned to my computer to access the folder, it has requested my password again and although I entered the same password that worked last time (the same password I use to make any changes to the folder on my Mac), it says "The specified network password is not correct." Has anyone else experienced this issue and do you have any advice on how I might fix it? I've even tried changing the password on my Mac for my account to no avail.
Go to file sharing select the user and at the bottom left click on "Options". There should be a popul list of users that you need to turn on and set a password for. Use that username and that password you set!
OMFG THANK YOU SO MUCH, APPLE INSTRUCTIONS WEREN'T WORKING, THEY SAID NOTHING ABOUT "MAP NETWORK DRIVE", INSTEAD I WAS TRYING TO GET THE NETWORK TO FIND THE MAC IT WOULDN"T SHOW UP! Thank you so much.
Wow......Man Thank You so much. I have followed all the steps you outlined and I have been able to send documents "FROM MY PC TO MY MAC". However, I couldn't reciprocate sending files "FROM MY MAC TO MY PC" using the same steps you outlined in this video. Please can you help figure out what I'm missing out in this whole file transfer process? Your input would be very much appreciated. Thank You So much man!!!! You are a life saver fr!!!!!1
Great to hear. Glad the tutorial was helpful! I have created another tutorial showing you how to set up the file sharing from the Mac. It creates a share folder on the Mac which you can drag files into which will then appear on the connected Windows machine... Here is a link to the tutorial ua-cam.com/video/UogQu1S0p2Y/v-deo.html
Worked like charm once I disabled the Mac firewall on Sonoma. That seemed to be blocking the incoming connection from windows. Enabling the firewall again doesn’t seem to block the connection. Thank you so much!
Thank you for your help. I have come back to this a few times now. Pretty much every few weeks the connection breaks (address changes). Do you know of a way to stop this?
Glad it helped. Sometimes when you shut your computers down ip addresses are re-allocated when they start up again. So really if this happens then you have to go in and put the new IP address in. Not sure of a way to avoid this.
Thanks for your reply. I think I will have to figure out another way. It's literally every time I need to transfer a document so it gets frustrating :)@@Touchtechnologyreview
Hello, thanks for this great tutorial video. Could you please help me with the following: I use to work with certain files, mostly in MacBook. These files are changed on daily bases. From time to time I have to travel and then I take with me a W11 laptop where I use the files I previously copy one by one from my MacBook. Wile working on the W11 laptop the work files get modified and once back home I have to copy them back to the MacBook. What could I do to share and sync my work wiles and keep them updated in both devices? Thank you very much in advance for any suggestion. Kind Regards.
It depends on what type of files. If they are word and excel files. You can use office 365 and save them to the cloud so that both computers are accessing the same files. Or you can use Google Docs and Sheets in the same way. Otherwise you would have to keep doing what you are doing right now which involves dragging the source file from one computer to another.
Everything was super clear in the video, but couldn’t get how u used the name WINDOWS when the actual share folder u created was MAC..can u pls explain what was the WINDOWS u meant there
Thanks for the help, you're a life safer! Recently got a new PC with 4TB ssd, that doesn't overcharge like Apple does for storage space, so trying to get all my stuff from my iMac moved over.
Straight to the point, just confused with the WINDOWS folder you created part. I did enter the SMB address and the folder I want to share and voila I have access now. Thanks!
Thank you, this was a perfect tutorial note- you may not see the Ip address, for me it was my PC name "\\chads-mac-mini-\Windows" If you are seeing the IP address you can avoid it changing by keeping the PC Name If you go to Apple Icon>System Settings>General > then scroll down to see "local hostname" you will see your PC name
