Interesting how they stopped the recording after they heard Walter start yodeling and let him do it for the rest of the game. Kind of a nice way to recognize his talent.
"Okay...you can stop here...there's no way that microwave costs more than three hundred bucks...don't...don't listen to that fat tourist, she doesn't know how much a microwave costs...STOP!"
@@rydercartoonanimations Maybe it’s an example of the Mandela Effect, but I could swear he’s been called both Hans and “Yodely Guy” since Cliffhangers’ inception in 1976.
I remember catching this particular show. Was rather amazed at the fact someone could yodel to the cliffhanger jingle so well. Not to mention that collapse from losing was perfectly timed.
That must be a crash sound effect, not the one from the WB cartoons and they should’ve add the “Goofy Yell” to go in there. This is the same sound effect which was used in the song “Smash the Mirror” by The Who from the album “Tommy”.
Walter Hershey as well, he was 76 in this episode but passed away at 88 years old. I didn't make this up, a comment mentioned that he's a friend's cousin's grandpa.
Even though Walter didn't win the prize. All though, he did win the entertainment for the audience in the crowd and everyone watching at home. Honestly, I've NEVER seen it as a kid. That was a great moment to watch, and it was so funny. The Price is Right should have the funniest moments ever happened. Because that, Walter that was incredible.
The one cliffhanger where the contentant does his own yodel vocals. Not to mention the only one with the price is right losing horn instead of the crashing sound.
When I was younger I used to be afraid of his yodel because it was so loud but now I'm close to eight years old I'm still seven and I'm not afraid anymore
They need to play the losing horns whenever the Yodely guy falls off the cliff, even if they do or do not use the yodeling music we know and love, sounds like a minor complaint but I like it that way :P
+cutemimi25 I think he was the only exception made seeing as everyone else didn't get the losing horn in this game. Not even when Rachel was yodeling like Walter was.
My guess for the Price of each of those 3 Small Prizes in this one would have been the following. Pottery Wheel: $20 Swing Groover: $30 Espresso Machine: $50
Agreed, that looks like a higher grade espresso machine that'd cost about $70-80 today. Maybe it just looked more expensive than it was. I would've pegged it for 55 and gone over the mountain anyway.
Interesting how they stopped the recording after they heard Walter start yodeling and let him do it for the rest of the game. Kind of a nice way to recognize his talent.
He deserved a MUCH bigger standing ovation than that crowd gave him. He was AWESOME
Walter didn't screw up; the audience didn't appreciate his ability as much as they should have
Probably a lot of the crowd is edited out or they have to be quiet during the actual game.
I wonder if he was Swiss or had the heritage
Walter must’ve had so much fun playing his role.
Walter falling down after the climber fell was funny
The climber's name is Yodely Guy or Hans. Okay? 😋 (Laughing) Everybody's a comedian.
@Natasha Lawson
His original name was Yodeling Guy, but in the late 1990's, they changed it to Yodely Guy. In 2018 they changed it to Hans.

He was mimicking the motions
I love it when there's that one contestant on a game show that has a very special talent.
The world needs more real men like Walter.
Amen brother!
I remember seeing this when it first aired in 2000, and I am so happy that I was able to find it again!
The fact that Walter happened to be playing this of all the games on Price is Right goes to show that the stars were aligned on that day.
This is one of the greatest few minutes of television in history
I remember catching this particular show. Was rather amazed at the fact someone could yodel to the cliffhanger jingle so well. Not to mention that collapse from losing was perfectly timed.
That look on Walter's face when the climber kept going during that last item.
*Morgan Freeman:* It was at that moment he realized...he fucked up.
He knew that he's not winning, but at least he hilariously played dead when Hans fell over. This video made him a legend. 🤣
Bless that man's heart for yodeling during the Cliffhangers cue!
Everybody gangster until Walter starts yodeling
Jesus, that guy is good.
Walter is a Legend.
He thought stopping would stop the climber at the top.
That guy is SO cute! I wanted him to win! :(
We need more Walters in this world.
i remember seeing this on tv. never thought i'd ever see it again.
That's the beauty of UA-cam.
Same. I remember seeing this as a kid and I loved every minute of it.
I'm extremely impressed with his talent.
This was a very enjoyable video. He was an excellent yodeler. It actually reminded me of Family Guy with the losing horns at the end.
"Should've gone to Plinko like Cleveland"
The Oh Mighty Sound Effects Lady kills the music. :-)
That must be a crash sound effect, not the one from the WB cartoons and they should’ve add the “Goofy Yell” to go in there.
This is the same sound effect which was used in the song “Smash the Mirror” by The Who from the album “Tommy”.
RIP Bob Barker
And this was how he became the Price is Right Yodeler.
I ❤ the guy yodeling along w the Cliffhangers theme music!!!
1:40 Walter: (yodeling, stops abruptly) (crash, losing horns play)
@aDg 2k18 😂 I had to give that a second look! 😂
Always remember this pattern when playing Cliffhangers on The Price Is Right: Bid $20, $30 AND $40 on the Three Prizes.
This was great that Walter was yodeling. He should have won the prize just for singing. LOL.
R.I.P. Walter
1924 - 2012
Way too young.
1:01 UGHHH yolololoeeyo
The old guy got down
I remember seeing that episode! The funniest part was when Walter fell down!
Walter you are the man!
Even if he didn't win he totally won with his amazing vocals
That guy looks like a guy at the church we used to go to, who sadly died a long time ago.
I'm so happy you posted this!! I saw this ep on tv, and everyone in my family watching this absolutely LOVED this guy! He made us so happy! :D
Walter is spitting fire 🔥
My new favorite Price is Right contestant.
wow! thats great walter!
RIP to a game show host and will never be forgotten and always forever grateful. Bob Barker 🕊️🪦

It's like playing Cliffhangers with a motion simulator. :)
The one cliffhanger where the contentant does his own yodel vocals. Not to mention the only one with the price is right losing horn instead of the crashing sound.
I've looked everywhere for this! Love this playing!
Nice talent.
Great hearing the guy there Yodeling.
Walter is living this
I remember this episode
this is the best ever!
Walter returns home to his Jura Orchestra record collection...
When I was younger I used to be afraid of his yodel because it was so loud but now I'm close to eight years old I'm still seven and I'm not afraid anymore
How could you be afraid of a yodel? Lol
What a human.
Epic portion!!
i remember watching this episode of the price is right when i was little
Legend has it that that was actually called "having a sense of humor!"
sjwtards aren’t equipped with that!
Thank you, I've been looking for this!
1:44 -- we shoulda gone to Plinko like Cleveland...
He really knows how to yodel, but then he plays the part on being dead after going over. Very nice & funny. 🤣
I remmeber this, classic moment.
That was awesome
He did an amazing job yodeling.
FINALLY! I've been waiting a long time to see this again.
I thought that yodeling Walter was just remarkable!!! I have never heard anything like that on T.P.I.R.!!!!!
Straight up OG wish this was my grandpa
THE OLD MAN IS RINGO'S GRANDPA.
The older folks are the best.
OMG THANK YOU
It was nice of him to fall down to the floor after the mountain climber fell off the cliff.
bob barker is good men
Plot twist: he bid way over on purpose, so he could be super awesome! Luv this guy!
Now there’s a man who spent a lot of years yodeling in the gully…
That pottery wheel brought back memories
EPIC!!!!
wow this is a very good sound
granpa's got his own yodley remix !!!!!!
In case you are wondering, the yodeling is from an old Swiss yodeling album.
I remember this episode! LOL
he had fun, thats what counts
Walter has the yodel down pattened.
Mistress Kixen Understandable, but I still love Cliffhangers.
+cutemimi25 You've said it ! They need to cue the 10 min loser horn !!!!!!
j rodriguez Same with Rat Race, that game needs a losing horns.
Rachel Reynolds' yodeling was so funny to Drew, he was laughing every time she yodeled.
Original air date: February 24, 2000
This is my late uncle!
love him yodelling but i HATE THIS FUCKING GAME
Yoldely guy: gets *M A D*
Contestant: You mad bro
we got a price is right conosur over here
Ahhhhhh... nuts!
Protect him
So sorry, Walter. You could've yodeled on the small mountains of St. Thomas.
I couldn't have said that any better myself.
Oh man i wanted him to win. It’s a tough game.
We need holodecks so we can program TPIR, and it generates all the games and prices of prizes and play by era.
My guess for the Price of each of those 3 Small Prizes in this one would have been the following.
Pottery Wheel: $20
Swing Groover: $30
Espresso Machine: $50
I think this guy created the Swiss Yodeling Album this comes from.
1:44: ????????
1:45: LOSING HORN
The crashing sound of the mountain climber, sadly falling off the cliff and either dying or becoming a quadriplegic like the late Christopher Reeve.
Walter won as far as I'm concerned!!
Any chance you have the entire episode? I was at that taping and haven't seen it in ages. Thanks in advance!
Since they let Walter do the yodeling himself, they just would use the losing horn if he went over the cliff, and in this case, he did.
Iwoul have given it to him
Hmmmmm Good singing grandad
Dammit he was only off by five bucks. They should have given him the trip just for knowing how to yodel!
Agreed, that looks like a higher grade espresso machine that'd cost about $70-80 today. Maybe it just looked more expensive than it was. I would've pegged it for 55 and gone over the mountain anyway.
