The Manchester Metrolink - 25 Years on

25Years on and the Manchester Metrolink has gone from strength to strength with seeing significant extensions to the network.
This video is a compilation of the network taken within the last 4 years to show progress on the network and includes many high profile locations with trams passing by.
There are a few original T68trams featured within the video too before withdrawal from service.

Excellent upload, gives a great insight into the Metrolink system, and shows interesting cross city workings pre the opening of Victoria to St Peters Square. What it does show is a lot of rain, and today is certainly no exception!
Did anyone else notice in the very last few seconds of the video, that monged out of his mind spice head who walked straight into the side of the tram which he bounced off? Useful for insurance purposes?

I prefer stagecoach super trams in sheffield and i like metrolink trams but the T68 trams

29:25 That's strange for a tram to be going past and even triggering a railway level crossing, makes me wonder if part of Manchester's tram network shares the same railway lines as the trains going past?

I commute on the altrincham line daily, because of the compact residential area the train line merges into one, parallel to the tram line that also merges into one. The crossing is there because of the train line next to it. They just have to lower the barrier or alert them in some way so I guess it’s just easier to lower it for the trams
