Thanks Munchies for bringing Heston on! I've been saying for years he needs to be more know in North America. He's a culinary legend but, for me he's hands down the most entertaining chef of ALL TIME. Hope he gets a Mind of a Chef or Chef's Table in the future. For those who don't know who Heston is, try to search for some of the shows he's done on British TV. I would start with In Search of Perfection(best pure cooking show of all time) then Heston's Feasts(most entertaining), then watch all his other stuff. If you like cooking you will be inspired.
Heston such an easy going and humble guy. I love his style and his philosophy about experimenting and the fear to fail. Thanks for this crash course Heston!
get the small skewers and a small hibachi grill for the kitchen...then you don't need friends or even chicken you can use any meat and eat it all to yourself. Duck is the closest to chicken
At least this recipe doesn't require a PhD in chemistry, the USA military budget for ingredients and the lifespan of a star to marinate or refrigerate things. Might try it tonight. EDIT: 3:54 Better start it now...
From the Masterpieces of MasterChef Australia to the simplicity of New York CIty roof top barbecue, always something delicious to learn from Chef Blumenthal!
"We don't need to learn how to be creative, we need to learn how to lose the fear of failure. Just give it a go. Just see what happens." One of most important things he's ever said
He might be baked in these new videos but he is still the most ground breaking chef in the way he has the ability to deconstruct simple things into masterpieces.
Yay, I've been watching Heston's magnificent feast show and whatever I can find on youtube. He's great, I love watching him prepare dishes and explain it all. That chicken really does look moist and and delicious.
Two + months without anything pizza related. Matty is a good fill in with his savory delights, his tattoos upon tattoos, and giggly antics but we are all fucking dying without a pizza episode. TRUTH.
This is chicken gyros(greek) can also be done with lamb or pork, a souvlaki (greek) is chicken, pork or lamb cut into cubed meat put on on a skewer. A kebab (turkish) is mincemeat rolled over the of and around a skewer.
I used to dog on heston all the time, but this recipe made me realize that the dude really loves cooking. I prefer these types of videos from him far more than his usual where he's in a massive industrial kitchen, slowcooking a chicken for 72 hours
@@GrowingDownUnder lol show me evidence or a shred of proof stating Gordon ramsay can't cook heston best dishes that's absolute rubbing keep pulling shit out ur ass.. For starters ramsay has apprenticed and classically trained under arguably one of the best chefs of all time marco pierre white, whilst heston couldn't finish an apprenticeship because he felt above it when he clearly couldn't hack it, ramsay has earnt more Michelin stars which is the best guide to restauranteuring in the world and don't start with the molecular gastronomy nostalgia shit heston does most people don't like it and having eaten at his fat duck restaurant in Melbourne it was average at best and he even had to close a restaurant down for mass food poisoning.. The techniques he uses are not super magical given a recipe ramsay would easily use the same techniques and do a better job most likely, heston claim to fame is a bacon sandwich with no crust on white bread
you just have to look at the dishes heston makes to know that, he creates his own dishes from 20+ years of experience using techniques which take longer than 5 years to master. A good example of this was his blown sugar dishes, as far as I know gordon has never made or shown his ability to blow sugar. That's only 1 of many things heston can do considering as he does food science and molecular gastronomy he's basically a scientist when it comes to food where as gordon just cooks traditional recipes that he learned from macro pierre white basically french, english & italian but no molecular gastronomy background for gordon.
if you ask most the top chefs in the world who they think is the best they will say heston, even masterchef they get heston to create the hardest dishes for a pressure test because he can make dishes harder than even the best chefs in the world. Just please go look at the menu for hestons fat duck restaurants it speaks for itself
Damn it. So Heston was actually here in NYC and I had no idea. Just bummed I couldn't have the chance to meet him. This man is a genius... even if he gets ridiculed for his excessive, prolonging techniques. He knows what he's doing. If you have the patience and want to treat yourself or someone to a good breakfast. Find his scrambled egg recipe. I make it as a treat for the Mrs's every once and awhile and give it to her in bed. The breakfast that is. And then I get my treat =)
Loved the recipe. Cant wait to try it out. I do think Heston has maybe had a bit too much Brooklyn 'cheer'. He does sound a bit pissed; or drunk as we say over the pond. I've seen loads of his vids and his speech does sound slurred a bit. Not his usual style, but hey, who doesn't enjoy a drink or 7 whilst cooking for mates?
My God...that grill. It's like a dream come true. Heston, man...wasn't expecting you to come through like that. Great job.

We don't need to learn how to be creative.
We need to learn how to lose the fear of failure. PREACH!!!
think he meant you do need to be creative and lose the fear of failure in order to be creative
dropping some wisdom bombs on a cooking video
fear hinder progress ... trial and error baby
Heston such an easy going and humble guy. I love his style and his philosophy about experimenting and the fear to fail. Thanks for this crash course Heston!
Me: Heston, what do you smoke?
Heston: Blue Menthol
I appreciate your joke, and so I shall leave you a comment of appraisal.
Nice lol 👍
There are some jokes that can be so bad they actually flip right around and become great, this maybe one of them 😂
my uncle was close friends with heston, i even met him and i can whole heartedly say this man is just as lovely as he appears
this stuff looks so freakin tasty. heston's always a hero.
So, all I need to get is:
- Chicken
- A huge grill
- A souvlaki skewer
- Friends
When you get the first 3 the 4th one probably wouldnt be a big problem. Just invite people over for delicious souvlaki and your done.
Yeah but $
get the small skewers and a small hibachi grill for the kitchen...then you don't need friends or even chicken you can use any meat and eat it all to yourself. Duck is the closest to chicken
It's called a spit .
mothekid that is not a souvlaki you dumy
At least this recipe doesn't require a PhD in chemistry, the USA military budget for ingredients and the lifespan of a star to marinate or refrigerate things.
Might try it tonight.
EDIT: 3:54 Better start it now...
Heston on Munchies? WTF :D
he's promoting his new device
Heston is a cool dude.
Both true 👍
jaczekdertuerke you think this inteligent kinda mad scientist he is never smoked a joint before?😅
What chef hasn't smoked a joint before?
Also how is this relevant? :D
He seems like such a nice, genuine guy! Very nice to see in this environment, thanks!
He was either really drunk or really baked, I can't decide.
He's a legit alcoholic and has been for years.
Looks like depressed.
I know , he seemed too self aware
He got depressed from dipping raw chicken in and out of boiling and iced water all day before cooking it.
Both probably
I like his fireworks safety goggles.
Top comment 😂😂😂😂😂

A true man of the profession.
Hands down the best looking dish, and most relatable dude to help you cook like that - VICE has had on. Girl or guy.
Heston’s vibe on munchies is 🤩🔥🙌🏻
Heston is a uk chef legend
"Whos the most important tool on the kitchen?"
Dude raises his hand
What a likeable character. I really enjoy Heston.
Two + months without anything pizza related. Matty is a good fill in with his savory delights, his tattoos upon tattoos, and giggly antics but we are all fucking dying without a pizza episode. TRUTH.
Dear Munchies,
We need more videos with this Chef. He is very cool. I get good vibes from him. And a knockout receipe.

Gordon ramsay lays claim to the best chef in the world
sorry mate but not even gordon can cook hestons best recipes, he just has more michelin stars than heston but he's not better than heston

Wow heston in munchies! What a time!
Wow, such a "simple" recipe, it looks so damn good!
That cabbage choppin' is straight up badass!!!
Only real chefs can chop like that.
I love learning from this chef
Love a bit of Heston
Yo this is freakin awesome!!!!
Heston is a true culinary sage
Why do I always end up at a video like this when it’s late and I’m hungry
You don’t watch a Heston video to try it yourself. You watch it because it’s pure entertainment.
Damn it. So Heston was actually here in NYC and I had no idea. Just bummed I couldn't have the chance to meet him. We need more Heston!
I love drunk Heston cooking over open flames. He's a hoot!
I love heston. More Please!
Definitely faster then last chicken recipe from him. Improvement.
About two or three weeks faster, the man is improving at an alarming rate
Heston always wears the funniest pairs of glasses
Women’s sunglasses frame with prescription lenses that’s what they are according to some optometrist that I know.
There you go
Why did I watch this at 1am in the morning.. I want a souvlaki so bad now :(
Heston on a shows he’s never been on before “my new BBQ” - ah now I get it

Heston is the most extra chef there is, but I love it
This seems a lot like a chimichurri sauce. I love seeing convergence in food.
That chicken looks absolutely amazing. And not one f bomb or bong hit.
I have a good feeling about this Heston fellow. He’s going places he is.
We need more Heston on UK TV

"In the 60's you had to go to the chemist to get olive oil. Back then you didn't cook with it, you poured it into your ears."
Yaaay Heston, keep him up.
One of the most fun chefs ever, why the building site glasses though?
I love this guy! Genius!

I'm about 8 minutes in and the joint is kicking in and that deluxe-o BBQ setup looks like it's roasting a giant nugget
Heston's approach to cooking is really scientific and down to earth, none of that dogmatic "do it exactly this way because I said so" bullshit.
Give him a show!!!
