How can I get a cinema camera sized shell myself? I got some thermal camera modules that I would love to turn into a portable filmmaking/photography system. But I haven't seen this as a service before.
Be patient. But any footage shot on Fujifilm GFX100ii along with atomos recorder recording prores raw will provide the same image as this. There’s plenty of footage available from the GFX100ii online.

Rolling shutter in the 8k mode isn’t great. But we don’t recommend the 8k mode since it doesn’t use the full width of the sensor. The 4K 16:9 mode has much better rolling shutter and uses the full width of the sensor.
You are mistaken. It crops for 8K video but for 4K 16:9 or 1.89:1 it uses basically the whole sensor (1.01x crop) and can push a 5K file of cropping to 2.35:1 in camera with the same 1.01x width crop. What it doesn't seem to do is have 4:3 open gate recording for the entire sensor, so yes everything will be a vertical crop. But frankly that's probably also how most full frame lenses are acceptably filling the sensor.
“Nearly 65mm format” how can they brand it this way, the sensor is 44mm wide. That’s not even close. That’s like saying super 35 is nearly full frame, or micro 4/3 is nearly super 35. Interesting concept, but I think it’s a miss and I don’t like the disingenuous marketing naming it the “65”

Sure, the Alexa65 is wider if you happen to want to deliver in a 2.1:1 aspect ratio, but for the vast majority of shooting situations you would be shooting in their 5k 1.85 mode and getting an effective sensor area just a little larger than that of the OFG Customs 65 shooting 4k prores raw. Calling the Alexa65 “65” is not much different to us calling the OFG customs 65 “65”. The point is that if you want to shoot on something larger than vista vision, and as close to 65 as digital motion picture sensors get, this camera is sometimes the only option. For now, the OFG Customs 65 and the Alexa65 are your only choices. If you can get your hands on an Alexa 65 that is…
Footages shot by real cinematographers with cine lenses is now needed.. Almost every video i've seen so far look video-ish, over sharpness reminiscent of 5d mark ii that i hope is fixed by shooting RAW, and a lack of warmth, roundness and creaminess in the image. But those were shot by either hobbyists or videographers, and i admit that, on some very few frames, i can feel something "might be special". This is why we need footages shot by real cinematographers now, we need to know what this camera has in the guts, if it can perform in the Cinema field or if it is suited for fashion editorials at most.. Few points that would greatly improve this camera through a firmware update : 1 - Internal Raw (whether compressed or uncompressed) 2 - Option to "totally" deactivate in camera sharpness (Raw might already do that but i need someone to confirm that). 3 - For the next gen GFX : global shutter This would be a beast cinema camera.. Thank you to OFG, this mod will encourage Fuji to go deeper in the cinema capabilities of their line-up..

The Atomos Ninja Ultra is built right into the OFG Customs 65… so yes, it’s “internal”. We have found raw to provide a superior image quality to the internal codecs. But for the GFX100 ii in general there is control over image sharpening and it can be turned down. So i wonder what the setting would have been set to when the footage you’ve seen was shot.
What I’ve found is that either the sensor itself or the FLOG 2 gamma requires a LOT of light to render good results - at least compared to my experience with Canon and Sony. Exposing for middle gray generally produced poor results which demonstrated a very odd type of image sharpening. However, exposing very far to the right resulted in stunning IQ and absolutely gorgeous skin tones. The sensor is wonderful.
The problem is when i hesrd rentals only for now...that means sooo expenive..i mean good lord might as well rent an arrin65 od somthing its just as big of a sensor maybe bigger
Okay, this is wonderful, but why would they not consider doing this for the actual flagship video camera of the fuji system also? The XH2s is far more suitable for professional video production than the GFX100ii
One is super35, this is medium format, technical capabilities aside on video, the GFX line is Fuji's flagship. Also there are lots of good super35 cameras, this is a whole different beast!
@@TheTechnoPilot I’m well aware of which is which. The XH2s is Fuji’s flagship, and is their most capable video camera. Technical capabilities are a part of what makes a flagship lol. A camera being flagship or not isn’t determined by how expensive it is. There is a reason fuji got so much backlash for stuffing so many video features into the less capable gfx100ii before the XH2s. The XH2s has the fastest readout speeds of any rolling shutter mirrorless body on the market, and has a 14bit readout which used to be reserved for high end cinema cameras. The GFX is standing out right now because there is simply less competition in the medium format market. Don’t let sensor size mislead you. The technology the sensor is accompanied with is key.

Doesn't matter if it's the best option, there is NO option in the cinema space for a camera to have this large of a sensor, especially at that price point. Larger sensors are at the hype right now, even if they are not as good as s35 or ff sensors, it doesn't matter, because the different look you can get on this sensor, it's worth it. It's not a tool for every job, this is far from being a perfect camera, but for them, as a rental company, makes a lot of sense, they will recover the money they invested on it pretty fast and make a lot more after it. So it does have a lot more thought outside of camera specs.

Meaning they don’t have to choose one over the other, but make an option for both. That’s all. Larger format definitely has some hype right now but no where near as much as FF or s35, those are still at the top in terms of standard and demand.

Not even going to be in the same price category 😂. Not to mention the work flows one needs a team and very intense post work one you could shoot by yourself and have a similar work flow to many in the industry.

The sensor is just smaller than Alexa65 in their 5k 1.85 mode. The fujifilm sensor in 4K mode is Closer to Alexa65 than Full frame or Vistavision.

Have the cineback for fx30, they should do more for other models, love the how it opens up for rigging
