    Sometimes when PFlax talks about politics it riles me up. Some policies should be taken to the public because it affects the public. Like here in Australia our prime minister wanted to pass the "religious freedom" policy, which allowed employers to fire or not hire women for being women, doctors to refuse to prescribe the pill or sex change hormones based on discrimination alone, and childcare centres to refuse care to children of single mothers... for being single mothers. That's not something you want a bunch of expert misogynists to agree on and roll out without public backlash. There's more nuance to this than "Don't consult the public on anything," is all I'm saying.

    • @rakuu9843
      @rakuu9843 4 роки тому +3

      I think pyrion was aiming more towards economic issues. You're right, I definitely believe social policies should be mulled over by the public before they're put into action.

    • @Poldovico
      @Poldovico 4 роки тому +2

      Then again, consulting the public is what elections are for. You vote for someone, follow up to ensure they do what you want them to, and if they don't you don't vote for them again. If you end up with a bunch of misogynists in power it's because a controlling majority voted for misogynists. The basic structure is built so you vote in some non-misogynists next time around and have them fix it.
      Of course, you do have referendums for the really big changes, like suddenly reworking the entire electoral system or the constitution, but the general systems should be based on making the public discourse about changing minds, not directly influencing long term decisions based on short term events.

    My opinion is that I don't accept Pyrion's opinion that people's opinions don't matter and I'd like everyone to base their opinion on this opinion

      can already say, they're wrong about twinks: just means a baby-faced, slim, gay guy, nothing to do with being camp or masc

    37:45 lipstick lesbian is actually code for a certain kind of relationship. It's referring to a lip/stick sexual relationship where one of the lesbians is a pre-op or orchy-only transsexual who firmly identifies as a lesbian.

    Earliest cartoons on movie film was porn-ish (smut/adult). It was only as it was pushed as cheap to produce for the interstitial between the sunday specials in the movies and therefore made kid friendly, after which it was mostly considered "for kids", because adults would prefer to pretend THEY never watched "that sort of filth".

    Unfortunately, while the whole list of descriptors for gay guys is efficient, dating is incredibly difficult. There is a plague of non-commitment in the gay community. Whether it be caused by having lost their childhoods to the closet and overcompensating for their lost time in the gay scene, or just down to the male psyche on sex and relationships, commitment to relationships is very hard to come by. I'm very lucky to have found myself a boyfriend who just gets me and wants commitment to a relationship, but I've heard a few horror stories in my time.

      Also, the other side may be that men, or anyone these days for that matter doesn't deem coupling up nearly as necessary as it may have been in the past.

    The problem with America is that most politicians only care about serving their rich billionaire funders and couldn't care less about the people so we have to come up with the ideas and sell it to politicians until they finally get it done.

    Coming to this after re-listening to the YoGPoD is really eye opening. That was 11 years ago and Simon said the word 'f~ggot' as a joke. It's funny to see how careful everyone is choosing their words in this conversation.

      The yogpod is super politically incorrect, and I think that's part of the charm.
