He seems like a decent guy. He was hired for a job and did the job. Most of his embarrassing scenes were only like that because Lucas directed him that way and wrote the dialog
I agree
What nobody realized was that Hayden’s acting, mannerisms and voice as Anakin was totally based on the Darth Vader from the OG Trilogy (you can see in Episode 3 he talks in the same monotonous voice as James Earl Jones), that’s because Lucas wanted to make it feel natural the transition from Anakin to Vader
@@charlespuruncajas9663 If i recall it was something that Ewan McGregor was trying to do as well, become a little more like Alec Guiness, but not quite mimic him
@@charlespuruncajas9663 You appear to not realize that the monotone voice was because of Vader’s voice processor, had nothing to do with how he really sounded as shown when he removed his helmet. So either Lucas is a sh*t director or Hayden is a sh*t actor, or just both
Sure, but that is the curse of cinema... even if done not too well it still tends to be immersive, which means the man and the role are almost not separable...

@@Jack-gj3gf I mean as a young Vader. Imagine if you were one of the universes most powerful people, but for some reason wouldn’t be allowed on the Jedi counsel like everyone else. That same counsel refusing to allow you to be with the woman you love. You too might display some of the cringe teenage angst that Vader does throughout episodes two and three. You’d feel betrayed and angry. Then a father figure in your life tells you that you can actually do something about it? Oh man not many of us would have the maturity not to snap and lash out just like Vader does. So all in all I think Christiansen did a great job of playing such a character
Hayden isn't bad he was given bad dialog and the flirting parts I can actually forgive because it makes sense that a Jedi doesn't know how to flirt. He also portrays and knows the character well even the way he pronounces things after turning to the dark side is brilliant because he makes it sound more vader like. Hayden got hate for seeming very bad but was actually just very misunderstood
and and anakin is not a smooth guy he beyond messed up hes just cocky but hes still awkward
@@santi-rosan7494 yeah Hayden portrayed perfectly a slave kid who was taken from his mother at age 9 by the one character who could've been the closest thing to a father to him, who basically immediately died and then he was left to his padwan, who saw him as "another useless life form" and only took him because of a promise to his master and then brainwashed by an outdated dogmatic jedi order which made him suppress all of his emotions, attachments and made him ignore all of his feelings and visions he had... if that's not a recipe for disaster (for his character) and further mental disorders I don't know what is. In his whole life he was mocked, made fun of, harrased, bullied by literally everyone - kids at school, press, media and grown up people. Wherever he went there were always people harassing him. All this not only completely screwed his life, but his mind as well. He was arrested I think in 2016 for reckless driving. He spent 10 months behind bars and then transfered to psychiatric facility. He was also diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and anosognosia which no doubt he developed from all the years of bulling and people treating him like crap while growing up. Agreed. Hayden the goat
Death Vader isn’t someone to have a particularly good conversation with. You have to remember Hayden is playing who would become a very bad person, and also had to play someone who was good. He had his work cut out for him. I think he played the role so well, that people don’t like who anakin skywalker is, because Hayden embodied him so much.
I agree with you, Lain.
Also, we have to remember: Hayden embodied Anakin´s transition from good to evil in a difficult period of end-of-adolescence/young-adult living a forbidden romance... And did a great job!
I think he did a really good job playing Anakin on his road to becoming Darth Vader and I think everyone wanted Darth Vader and reviewers especially, could not and cannot see Anakin and only saw Darth Vader, who he becomes at the last 5 minutes of Revenge of the Sith. His performance of Anakin is flawless.

Certainly not the new trilogy.hate on those if anything cuz theyrr a tragedy
@@jetcustomsdbz5821 For sure. Hayden was just given a terrible script.
Nah, within Star Wars & out… he definitely doesn’t get the most hate.
Anakin was 20 in ATC... Not a teenager. Its okay to like the movies but Hayden isn't a good actor. He didn't leave to have a family, that was several years after his last big part. No one cast him because his non-Star wars movies flopped.
So everybody is forgetting how whiny Luke was about those power converters. The only one that didn't whine was the woman. The inner pain and trauma and trying to stick with the rules of the jedi council made him easily susceptible to the dark side. If qi gon (I'm sure it's spelled wrong) had trained him, there would have been no episode 4 through 6 to start it off. He did a very good and believable portrayal of the fall of a hopeful youth who lost his mom because he wasn't there and his wife and kids because he was. Brava, he gets unnecessary hate, because of fan expectations. If he wasn't good, he didn't write the script or direct. He showed up for work. You tell your boss on the biggest franchise in human history that you don't like it that way. Can you say, fired?
You're babbling.
You were close. Qui-Gon.
It's actually nothing against him personally most of the time; he wasn't well cast and the scripts sucked, but as an actor he failed to redeem the material - unlike Alec Guinness, Liam Neeson, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Christopher Lee or Ewan McGregor, who all grappled with Lucas' crummy lines. He's not alone; Natalie Portman hardly distinguished herself as Padme (turning in maybe her most disinterested performance since Mars Attacks!). Fortunately however her role carried nowhere near the level of expectation that Hayden's did, which thus made him a target (like Jake Lloyd, who played "Anni" in The Phantom Menace) for fans disappointed with the banal treatment of a favourite character.
@@Formakiwi he actually did try. The behind the scenes special features revealed that Hayden kept trying to emote more or do more but George kept pulling him back.
It's clear that while George let others do what they could to give their characters more life, he had a very clear idea of what he wanted for Anakin and wouldn't let Hayden divert from that vision.
He's out there being a real man taking care of his life, family and property.

Removing Shaw from Return of the Jedi betrays continuity because Vader had aged before his passing. Obi Wan is not Ewan MacGregor as a force ghost. Why would Anakin be given an exemption?
I really like Hayden Christensen. He’s Handsome and Mysterious and Wonderful
I heard he purposely chose not to do more blockbuster movies and to instead focus on doing smaller projects like indi films. I think it was because he didn't like all the hubbub that came with working on big blockbuster projects if I recall correctly.
If true it makes you wonder which, If any, blockbuster movies he turned down or could have been in had he auditioned
I happen to like jumper. Awake gave me the chills about surgery even to this day. I opted to have a local instead of general for my tooth extractions
you should check out the book Jumper by steven gould... its nothing like the ilm (which i enjoyed) but its a really good read lol there are several sequels too (dont bother with giffins story)
@@koriuk5032 I'll never understand how ppl can read books and not get bored to tears cause it's not a tv or video game
Humphrey bogart was in we re no angels 1955 with basil rathbone Aldo ray sir Peter Ustinov
Hayden Christensen is a legend playing Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker Hayden Christensen delivered us a great performance
I never understood why the critics say his acting sucked at the prequels, he perfectly acted someone who's in a real danger of falling into the dark side but still has a lot of good in him. Also, as much as I love the prequels, it's unreasonable to count it as a negative that Attack of the Clones didn't win against Lord of the Rings. It's LOTR ffs.
Yeah, his performance might not always be spot on in the prequels... But like the casting director said, Hayden is a very unique guy. Brought something to the performance many others couldn't have and he especially connected with the younger audience. Hayden made Anakin be like a charming leading figure and an odd outsider at the same time. Which fits pretty well for a younger version of Darth Vader, I think.
Greetings from Germany! :-)
He cut Mace Windu's arms off so Sam Jackson followed his ass into the next movie to take revenge 😂
Jumper is pretty good.. Really underrated.
I liked him as Anakin Skywalker. I don't care what others think)) It was great!👍👍👍
Hayden Christensen is a great actor capable of transmitting raw emotion through his facial expression I in particular love three such scenes from Revenge Of The Sith
First is his hesitation to kill Count Dooku "I shouldn't" at that moment you can see indecision and fear in him
Second is the scene where he sits alone in the council room after Mace went to Palpatine you can see all demons and pressure that tortures Anakin in that scene, his face and in particular eyes tell you this without a single spoken word
And third and final scene is Anakin crying on Mustafar after his fall to the dark side of the force, yet again without a single word you can see that Anakin at that moment is not fully enslaved by the dark side of the force but is actually reflecting on and regretting his actions, remembering his childhood dream of becoming Jedi and saving his mother and realizing that he not only failed that dream but became something far worse
Hayden Christensen is great and I am very excited about his return PLEASE make it happen PLEASE
considering Disneys disdain for their own audience I doubt Kenobi shows future but if it will happen WITH HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN it will be so awesome that I will achieve the HIGHEST GROUND OF JOY IMAGINABLE
Dedication is what makes a good actor. It's not what the critics say, it's not what the fanboys say, it's the art of dedication.
Hayden Christensen is a great actor but never get the chance to shine much with other movies and he deserves to be recognised for his work.
If you hate him, you just cant admit your gf/wife would rather have him than you.
The writing did him dirty, some of the dialogue he was given in those movies was literally impossible to make sound “good” or “cool” wasn’t Hayden’s fault…he may not be the greatest actor of all time but he’s definitely nowhere near as bad as some moments in the prequels make him out to be…
Nice to know he was able to reprise his role as Darth Vader in Disney Plus 'Obi Wan Kenobi' series
I'm hoping Obi Wan kick starts his career again, he's a good actor but bogged down with bad direction and writing
I agree. He was awesome in shattered glass. Imagine what he’s capable of with Deborah chow directing him. It’ll be amazing.
Anyone who says he did a bad job as anakin isn’t a Star Wars fan…he portrayed him perfectly slowly changing into Vader! Plus every time he would Vader’s theme song would play really low in the background
I really liked Jumper. I bought it, and have watched it at least 6 times.
- Takers was also good.
Takers is awesome
Humphrey Bogart was In Dead end 1937 with Joel Mccrea key largo 1948 with Lionel Barrymore Edward g Robinson directed by John Huston
30:28 "Hayden, you better not fuck this up" 🤣
For. Real!
With the narrator’s semi-sarcastic tone throughout the entire clip, I’m really not sure if he likes or hates Hayden.
THE HATE IS REAL.
I grew up with this trilogy and I love Hayden as Anakin Skywalker.. the haters are just fans who have unrealistic expectations. Now the latest trilogy a truly disappointment
