Well, I'm just in that same situation right now!! Omg. My math teacher can't even make me understand everything she teaches bc she teaches so fast. She rushes everything.
Within 45 seconds, you have proved yourself. You are much better than my math teacher! Thank you! (Also, you just.. look epic. You look like you'd snap necks and cash checks)
Look for youtube channel YayMath, it's actually pretty good and the videos don't end after 10 minutes. They're fairly long videos but the teacher in the videos keeps it entertaining and upbeat. I've been struggling with this whole factoring thing and I'm still struggling but I understand it a little better now. Still don't really understand it completely. But check out YayMath, he's pretty good.
WOW!! I've been struggling with factoring for a long time and never had anyone explain it so simply. Everything about the video is awesome. Especially that chalk board which I never seen in school anymore! Thank you very much for posting this video! I subscribed since I will probably need more help in the future.
Whenever I need help on a certain topic I always have to watch a few videos before it finally clicks in my head. This guy delivered the information in a way that's very simple to grasp. Thank you!!
Good sir, god bless you! I was literally on the verge of a mental breakdown because i just could not whatsoever understand this lesson, and i absolutely hate when i don't understand something. And right after seeing the way u introduced the lesson i was at ease. Thank you so much now i understand and can solve really well!
THIS HELPED SO MUCH. I've been on YT for an hour looking at these factoring videos. Each was more confusing than the last. I see an old man and I think "Eh, what the heck?" THIS video made the most sense out of any of them! Excellent way of teaching, slow paced, but fast and to the point at the same time. Very happy to have come across this one!
Algebra can be so fun to do when you have a teacher who actually takes the time to thoroughly explain the subjects. unfortunately my professor just writes stuff out of the book that i paid $200 for and that's about it. she doesn't care if we are following along or not. It's sad because Algebra used to be my favorite. now its a nightmare because i have to figure everything out on my own.
Thank you so much. You have helped me understand factoring. I wish my teacher would teach like you. He makes it look so hard to do and confusing. Hopefully by watching this video it will help me with my test tomorrow. thank you again.
Same here, my teacher makes it look not hard, but really confusing. He doesn't give much detail when explaining, he writes randomly anywhere on the board, and he has this really tangy accent which makes it hard for me to understand him when he's talking. He's fun but SO CONFUSING. So, I really wish he would teach like this guy....
Yeah, my teacher does that too sometimes. It's frustrating I know xD I think the best you (or we) can do is get a private math tutor so he can teach according to how you want him to teach.
This was an amazing, literal and easily understood lecture. I was engaged and could follow easily. Most of my teachers showed me a basic way to do it and then give you a test on it but its full of double negatives and it leaves you second guessing. He has covered the majority of "difficult" ones; ones you would actually see in a test.
Thank you so much for posting this! I had really been in a math 'rut' and just couldn't understand how to do this with the way my teacher had been explaining it. I tried to read out of the book and figure it out on my own but I know I learn best by watching people actually preform the task. This really helped me out and I can honestly say I'm confident with my long lost factoring skills.
This is the best explanation of factoring that I have ever seen. You just explained something that teachers/professors have been trying to explain to me for 5 years in a matter of minutes. God bless you, sir.
Haha we learned that in algebra 1, too.but in algebra two, it goes further and talks about rational zeros and irrational zeros-which is strongly related to what i learned in algebra one. I think that chapter is one of the easiest chapter in algebra two
thedogprincess9 A lot of things seem imaginary until engineers and scientist actually use them. Your kind of thinking is only fit for someone who does not wish to push beyond mankinds current knowledge of the known universe
This guy is great; he's featured on the videos for my Calculus eBook. My suggestion for CoolMathGuy is to teach math teachers how to teach. Too many teachers who understand the concepts of mathematics themselves have absolutely no clue how to teach those concepts to others.
Algebra II does have new things in it, but not everything is gonna be brand new. These are Algebra II level factoring problems. In Algebra I you do this same stuff but its not suppose to be as complex as these ones, its actually suppose to be very simple.
Your options after hs,Mcdonalds, Burgerking , MMA ,Boxing ,Kick Boxing ,I would say military but you need to pass a math test just to do that. Good luck.

***** just saying here but some people are challenged with math. I'm 16 and homeschooled. I'm currently in my second year of college and struggling with math like this. So keep your negativity to yourself. People out there struggle, not everyone gets this shit right off the bat. so Shut the f*cking h3ll up and and shove you negative comments up yours. and hey "KrazySlot" don't listen to a$$holes like this guy... I love this so much it makes my face hurt. Everyone else who's tried explaining this to me has made it sound like they just pick a magic number out of the air to factor out. Your explanation made it clear as day. Seriously. So. Much. My. Face. Hurts.
i realize how old this vid' is... but it helped immensely to see a side-by-side comparison of factoring a POSITIVE number and a NEGATIVE number from the same polynomial (3:30) it's like a window opened in my mind and i suddenly understood how factoring works on soooo many other levels! i have watched at least a ka'zillion factoring vids but never saw anyone do this. Kudo's to the Cool Math Guy... he has a way of explaining things without confusing the subject! thank u kind sir.
Hi, I just wanted to say Thank You. I was struggling with understanding this but your method is soo much easier for me. Really appreciate you sharing your knowledge...
You have a very clear and straightforward method of teaching, and it progresses parallel to my own pace perfectly. You are concise and thoroughly comb through each equation, while also explaining each step. Thank you so much, you are a wonderful resource.
im crying, ive failed 2 quizzes and i still cant understand all the teacher was teaching and im so happy i have come across this guy, youre my life saver mister thank you thank you thank you
Where have you been, If I could only have found you 2 semesters ago. I can hold my own in math but it frequently seems the hard way. Cant wait to see your word problems!!! LOVE YOU, LOVE YOU, LOVE YOU
To all the teachers out there that really care about your students; that care enough to master not only the subject you are teaching, but the art of teaching itself, I say THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart. It makes all the difference.
OMG I went thru all of high school with finally just understand factoring polynomials from this short video. If only all my teachers were as good as this guy.
Wow! how amazing. Such a thorough tutorial. So straight to the point, while still keeping a modest pace slow enough for learners. You've got talent when it comes to teaching. This is super helpful and it teaches you how to deal with some of the more difficult problems in factoring. Thank you so very much!!!!
OMG! Thank you! I could not get this for the life of me. You helped me study for my final exam and understand this in under 10 minutes. Fantastic grouping video :)

UA-cam does not limit the video to 10 minutes
Keep in mind it was uploaded 6 years ago. The rules might of been different idk.
they were. maybe not 6 years ago but the video might still be older
youtube in 2009 or 2008 had a rule that limited videos to 10 mins

+Bnw1034 yes they are, because most teachers don't care whether you learn something or not
This is an EXCELLENT refresher for the GRE. Thank you! (Also, love the southern accent.)
I struggled with factoring polynomials so this is a big help. Even though this is 7 years old, you are still helping people.
