Seeing her sweet smile as she listens takes me back to someone in my childhood, a lovely young girl, experiencing the same song on a warm summer day in GA. Summer of 72...

This song was written as an apology to a girl he met while on tour in the US, by the name of Dixie Butz(Armstrong). He met her at a concert and she traveled with him the rest of the tour, and then he went back to England, promising her that he would be in touch. He got so busy in the studio and playing that he realized he never called or wrote to her, and assumed she was disgusted with him. He mentions her name twice in the song and there was no mistake who he was writing it to. On their next tour he had her looked up and contacted her, and they got back together for a while, going back to England with him. It didn`t work out, their lifestyles were so different, the band came first and they parted as dear friends. Read the book "Without You, the tragic story of Badfinger"' by Dan Montovina. Excellent reading, and Will break your heart.

I mentioned this song on a previous reaction. But “day after day” by Badfinger is such a great song and has all the radio play vs their other stuff

Nice trivia. I was not aware. *Thanks* All I knew it was recorded at Abbey Roads and assumed "produced" by the same people who recorded The Beatles.

They were a group called The Iveys, named after a road near their homes. All of the guys in that picture except Joey Molland (on the right) are dead. Two hung themselves and the drummer died of a heart attack, I believe. And, the Beatles John Lennon said he named the group, while some say George did and most say Ringo came up with the name. Badfinger tho said they came up with it. Molland still plays and there are others that played in the group later on that still play under the name also. They were fantastic in concert, and great songwriters. But they were royally screwed over by their manager. He took virtually every penny they earned.

If I didn't know this was Badfinger I would swear it was the Beatles.

Yes, a very tragic story on the group. Very bright futures, but misplaced trust in people.

Brilliant band. Horribly ripped off by their manager Stan Polley. So very sad...
