These guys are considered by many to be the heir-apparent to the Beatles. They were signed to the Beatles' company, Apple. McCartney wrote their first hit, 'Come And Get It'. The tragedy of their story is sad, and this sounds maybe a little trite - but it is also too bad because they truly had some great songs - this one, Day After Day, No Matter What, If You Want It, Carry On, Without You. They were also one of initial Power Pop bands

In 1969 Bad Finger was signed to Apple Records (Beatles label) so this is when songs produced by the Beatles, sound like the Beatles... go figure.... Lex felt it right away it seems.... thumbs up!

"Take good care baby, let me know, let it grow". Brad says, they are talking about "taking care of their baby and letting it grow". 🤔Hmmm....Brad, you have an interesting way of thinking and interpreting sentences. I'll definitely give you that!! Lex you have a _great_ ear for music!, Yes, they did have a Beatles feel in much of their music. Just FYI, they were signed to the Beatles' Apple Record label.

I remember this song back in 1972. I was 10 years old. My older brother had a 45 of this song. After he went off to the Air Force Acadamy that summer, I absconded with it and played the song till the grooves in it caused the record to skip in a couple places.

They had a lot of influence from the Beatles and George Harrison actually produced at least one of their songs. Was checking Wikipedia and this song was produced by Todd Rundgren. Definitely early 1970s by the sound.

Lex' instincts are pretty damn good, for someone her age that didn't grow up listening to the music of this era. It shows me that all of the music reactions you and Brad have done, are starting to kind of educate you both. It's like you've gone to "Classic Rock" school, and you have developed a sense of things, and eras in Rock/Blues R&B etc. Keep it up.

  • @franko6677

Lol I can’t tell if Brad was being serious but it’s not about an actual baby. It’s about letting a relationship go even though the singer is still in love with the woman he’s singing about, and he’s asking her to remember him fondly. Lex is spot on with the Beatles connection. BTW this is a genre of rock known as “power pop” which is like a very guitar driven energetic sound but with an emphasis on melody and harmony. This song is considered to be one of the most notable power pop songs.

One of the saddest tragedies in music. Totally screwed over by management which cost them millions. Led to two suicides by the man singing right now and the bass player. Recorded on the Beatles Apple records. Paul McCartney wrote their first hit "No Matter What". Wonderful, talented group who could've been contenders.
