- This has been a HIGHLY Requested song over the last week (that's the power of virality, baby!) ... and considering how much I LOVE it, I am more than happy to oblige!
The original song is called 《一剪梅》 (yī jiǎn méi), which means "A Spray of Plum Blossoms" in English. It's sung by 费玉清 (fèi yù qīng) who I personally think has the voice of an ANGEL.
This isn't EXACTLY the perfect song for me range wise... but I think it's ok enough for UA-cam. I hope you guys think so too. :)

That's pretty much modern Chinese pop music nowadays. It's up to a person whether or not that's a bad thing.
She said she first learnt to sing listening to her mom singing in the showers. Her mom happens to be professional Broadway performer (retired now I guess) who was in the original production of Evita. So I guess that basis will never go away. And personally I absolutely love Broadway style singing.

Notwithstanding she can sing and wear the qipao, as we call them cheongsum in Malaysia. I have an exact copy and hope she telegraph ahead when she wear the qipao next as nothing worst than one lady and one man front up to an event wearing the same outfit. For me I am into cross dressing being a bit LGBT minus so I hope we can avoid the embarrassment of outfit clash. Thank you Jillian for being so talented and you should meet up with Li Zhiqi and just imagine the audiences will shoot through the roof. Can just see the title, "Jillian from JJsays meets Li Zhiqi." @@Andsleeter Not really melancholic song but a song of 'strength in the midst of adversity' (like the blooming of the plum flowers in the midst of the harshest winter). The underlying meaning of the song could reflect Taiwan's spirit (plum flower being the national flower) that it faces adversity after the defeat in the civil war and had withdrawn/retreated to a small stronghold of Taiwan but the resilience and strength would see them bouncing back. (*Arguably, some might claim that it's melancholic because of that defeat but that's not the main message of the song; the main message is strength in the face of adversity).

I’m Chinese and I can hear a slight bit of accent in her singing. But it is impressive to be able to sing it that well! You’ve got a lovely voice and your Chinese is definitely not bad. You really puts emotions in your singing while is quite important in music. Keep up the good work!

Did NOT know you could sing like that! You also captured the emotions in the song. Most songs are poems set to music; Chinese songs are as well, but many times about our relationship with nature as well as each other. That was just beautiful!!

how do you tape that?
@@user-gw4jh1co4o get some tape and look for the sticky side, then you should hold it with 2 hands (for more accuracy) and place it down on whatever you want to tape. Afterwards, if you want it to stay longer, i would suggest either using the flat side of your fingernail or the finger pad to press down on the tape. Also make sure to use the right tape for the circumstance, and remember to put more than you want, cause having too much tape is better than not having enough tape. This was my tutorial on taping, and i hope you were enlightened!

I like the translation. It is a very close, I should admit, to the actual meaning of the lyrics.
Overall, good translation. But, the translation couldn't be right if the original Chinese wording is wrong. The lyric about the northern wind has been misunderstood by many. 啸啸 means howling while 萧萧's meaning is more complicated. It's more like calmly, quietly lonely. 啸啸& 飘飘 won't exist together. The snow flakes won't drift when the winds are howling. So, it should be 雪花飘飘, 北风萧萧 - while the snow flakes drifting down, the lonly northern wind is softly weeping...
