I was there....I remember listening to the first songs of the setlist and get amazed by the drum sound, one of the best live drum sound that i`ve haver heared....sounded so full
Best word I've heard to describe him is "Bombastic" He has a skill set that really sets him apart. Technical, intelligent, creative, innovative, aware, musically articulate, and prodigious are other good ones.
AcridEclipse11 sorry but Jon Theodore kicks Dave Grohl’s ass as a drummer and it’s not even a competition. But as far as I’m aware Jon can’t sing or play guitar or write a song as badass as everlong so there’s a different kind of talent there.
I mean yeah Theodore is better in many ways than Grohl. But Grohl made the best albums with QOTSA and his drum parts are amazing. Also he hits so damn hard and is so raw that he’s my favorite of them all. Theodore is also perfect for sure
Seriously! That has my favorite drums and probably favorite album from them. I used to think it was always Thomas Pridgen, so I kept watching his videos and was like “why isn’t he drumming like on Cygnus Vismund Cygnus!” So glad I eventually figured it out.
It is my understanding that when I've talked to a few members from Sparta they told me that The Mars Volta will come back sometime next year or after they are in the works for tour and also with John Theodore.
I'll never forgive Mark Ronson for basically mastering Jon out of Villains. The first Queens album he was the sole drummer for and they mix all the character out of the drums! A damn shame, I tells ya
All I can say is John bottom In him should do something together sometime not saying heaven not saying hell but either way they're both in the same category of The other A lot of people talking about this subject Listen to both of them and then compare them both at the same time you will see it's almost a compressor effect of stimulus
I agree... Though not as harsh as you... QOTSA definitely does not showcase him well, IMO. BUT ! I wouldn't say anything else past that... Go watch a Mars Volta show from 2003 - 2005. I promise your jaw will hit the floor.
fuuuuck I miss the mars volta. Theodore is one of the best drummers alive.
They may get get back together soon ;)
At the end you can hear Josh say "if you can do it at home, don't clap"
I will clap anyway.

Spot on.
He probably the greatest alive at the moment. a guy that can mimic a train rolling through your house has got to be at the top of the list
He's a modern bonham
He's even using a mustache lol
John may be the most gifted of all QOTSA drummers, his feel and instinct are ridic
he is you guys are lucky to have him
Mars Volta was so dumb for letting him go back in the day lol, and they admitted it
Evan McDonnell dave grohl??

watching this thinking their needs to be a follow up One Day As A Lion album!!!!!!!!!
Best Queens drummer ever
The Mars Volta really messed up big time.... Jon finally got the credit he deserved
I agree with this comment so hard!!
Cedric agrees with this comment too
He got my credit
Tremulant and deloused made him one of my favorite drummers
If you need any more confirmation of this man's genius check out the album Frances The Mute by The Mars Volta
Seriously! That has my favorite drums and probably favorite album from them. I used to think it was always Thomas Pridgen, so I kept watching his videos and was like “why isn’t he drumming like on Cygnus Vismund Cygnus!” So glad I eventually figured it out.
Yeah Jon Theodore era Mars Volta was just excellent.
Any one else noticed that about the last 25 sec. of his solo was the ending part of "this apparatus must be unerathed."?
It is my understanding that when I've talked to a few members from Sparta they told me that The Mars Volta will come back sometime next year or after they are in the works for tour and also with John Theodore.
I don't want to call them "kick mics", because a mic is a mic but... all his toms are mic'd with kick mics. It really adds bass!
Greatest!
This apparatus must be unearthed at the end
This comment must be unearthed and agreed with.
Evan L. this reply must be unearthed and replied to
That left foot just MOVING
Mister Theodore!
I hope one day in a Mars Volta Reunion Tour that he will join in on the tour.
that's the plan according to omar's news
Pablo Molina where are u getting ur information from sir?
Omar said it on an enterview, he also said that he already has plenty of material.
Robert Almeida say what
Don't think that will happen anymore :/
He’s the best drummer!
The king of single stroke falamslams
Pure Bonham!
1000% solid power.
You know what band would be cool to see him drum for? A Perfect Circle.
He is the best thing could happen to QOTSA!!
*L'via suddenly starts after the solo*.
JK, he could have some more liberty at QOTSA. He's done his part to TMV, it was great.
Reminds me of the end of the movie whiplash
The Mars VOlta went to shit after Jon left. Fucking amazing drummer
Amazing drummer...get the hammer of gods
1000 times better and musically more interesting than Joey.
Agree.
sorry for the question which drums plays john of mark and of what measures?
I'll never forgive Mark Ronson for basically mastering Jon out of Villains. The first Queens album he was the sole drummer for and they mix all the character out of the drums! A damn shame, I tells ya
is great but his potential was exploted only whit mars volta (sorry for my english i am agentine or argentinian i dont know)
I agree. His work in Francis The Mute is nothing short of magnificent.
Agreed villians production neutered him . i dont get it
Both are the extremes of his playing. TMV: his most technical and flamboyant playing; QOTSA: his most "regular" rock playing.
He burned out in Mars Volta and it made them unable to tolerate each other for a while, I think he feels at ease more with QTSA
bonzo lives
Love Jon Theodore, but don't like how subdued his drum sound is with Queens.
Unearthly comes to earth.
Billy Corgan would love to have him as a drummer I bet
that would be waste of talent
Theodore is amazing but Jimmy Chamberlin might be better
That mustache tho

I liked him way better in mars volta
Miss Dabe Grohl's power.
He is a very unDerrated Drummer ,he has amazing Drumming skills and looks like Freddy Mercury
Sayantan Ghosal Freddy Mercury?
dave elitch is better
You need to listen to some Mars Volta.
🤣
@@searchanddestroy1417 Dave Elitch was their original drummer lol. He wrote most of the drum parts for Deloused
HORRENDOUS solo.
This guy has NEITHER chops NOR creativity.
Maybe if this were 1932 this solo might have been "interesting".
Dumpy Goodness dude...Who the fuck are you?
I agree... Though not as harsh as you... QOTSA definitely does not showcase him well, IMO. BUT ! I wouldn't say anything else past that... Go watch a Mars Volta show from 2003 - 2005. I promise your jaw will hit the floor.
I agree but this solo is shit compared to his amazing skill as a drummer. Should check out his work for The Mars Volta.
Too good. Mars Volta screwed the pooch on that one.
