Just remembered something, on the subject of cap guns. Does anyone remember going to a scrappy or garage and asking for two bolts and a nut, the longer the bolts the better. You buy the paper rolls of caps and cut them up, put the nut half on one bolts and load the caps in then twist down the other bolt. Toss it in the air and comes down with a bang? We made our own toys!
@Daftdetectorist I literally burst oot laughing. Enjoying the videos good Job .further up the river ayr towards Mauchline and Catrine be bound to be some relics from the covenanter battles fought around these areas.
Not sure but the wee thing with pins reminds me of a Seg, people used to put segs in their shoes, it was a big thing in the seventies, but hill boots that farmers, gamekeepers and stalkers used to put segs in the soles of their shoes to stop the sole wearing down. Think of taps in tap shoes. I think the name comes from segments? 15 grand, aim high young man, for a year 100k! I am surprised you don't recognize the brass ring, weren't you in the army? I'm off to listen to Beastie Boys Brass Monkey now!
