For players new to the series and looking for videos like this to know what to use, I would not recommend starting out with the bowguns. This isn’t because they’re harder or cheesier it’s because for early game it is very annoying to farm ammo so there’s nothing wrong with using it just be warned that ammo is consumable and annoying to farm. However, in all of the recent games there have been mechanics to easily, and passively, farm ammo so there is likely going to be a system like this in wilds meaning that if you are dead set on using nothing but bowguns, it does get much easier to get ammo so you’ll be fine once you get past the super early game. Good luck and happy hunting!
I honestly whole heartedly disagree. New players absolutely should not look up videos on what to use. Lab them weapons. Pick which one you find the MOST fun. After that then you can look up vids on that weapon and some combos others may have discovered.

Don’t know if this will be an option in the demo, but the best thing I know to do is to try out each weapon for a bit in the training ground, like 2-5 minutes each, then pick a few that you like and go through the first large monster hunt with them. The lance is only there for when i am carting multiple times in quests with a hard monster, I will be the shield to my Great Sword.
I'm hoping to go Charge Blade and Hunting Horn. Two pretty complicated weapons. CB for a balance of defense and offense when monster is scary when first learning its attack patterns, until i can punish it right back with phial burst damages. Losing the helicopter isn't a huge downside (imo) since you can still hop into the air at any time and do an attack with diving wyvern and also the spin attack so I assume it's just enoygh to still break parts while keeping most of the mobility and allowing it to not cheese a lot of the monsters anymore (which is a fair dev worry tbh).
Lance main. Though I might grab an HBG so that I can make some long range mount attacks. Alternatively, I would also love to try out the Switch axe, as it is one of my favorite weapons in all of MH. Swag axe for life!

Definitely sticking with SwitchAxe as my main, but i love the idea of a secondary weapon in order to branch out and experiment. Think i'll try some bowguns first, but no guarantee they'll stay my secondaries forever
In World and Rise, I like the HBG but had trouble with solo hunting keeping at the right distance from the fast monsters. I tried the Sword&Shield, but just couldn't get into it. The Charge Blade I found fun and I like the Hunting Horn & Switch Axe. But I still don't know what my "favorite" one is. I tried Dual Blades for the first time with Wilds and....I *really* liked it. Just constantly going ham on a monster while dodging attacks was just so so fun. I think I will try the Lance and Gunlance for the first time when the game comes out, but whatever ends up being my main, I will probably always keep the HBG as the secondary. It was always useful for taking down the flying monsters & it was devastating when hunting with a party that can keep the monster in one area while I back up to the optimum range and unleash hell from afar.
Charge Blade will be the main. They've done lovely things with the weapon and 2 in 1 is just chefs kiss. Insect Glaive and Bow are my desired secondary weapons. I THOUGHT my primary was going to be Charge Blade like in World. But lately that Switch Axe has been calling my name! I'll probably end up running them both, but I can't decide which will be my MAIN and which will be my SECONDARY.
Insect Glaive; I love the airborne attacks and flying in doing massive combos and flying out of danger just as fast. Been saved a few times with the insect buffing me or poisoning the beast. I really hope we can mount like Rise, zip up to the monster's back and lasso him and charge other monsters or launch it into a wall. Im excited for a second weapon; I have a few contenders but SwitchAxe has always been a personal favorite. Its style and versatility in range and power has always kept me interested. Yeah, especially since this is my first time playing any monster hunter game, this guid is amazing. Was thinking of gun lance, and now im gonna im planning on going for switch axe, maybe long sword/charge blade as a second
Yesssss! This was my plans too! Have you always been a HH main? I fell for it in iceborne but wasn't a fan of MH Rise changes. Always liked the IG though.
I was considering it, I've been hovering around playing both these weapons and I like the idea of playing into power prolonger/ horn mistro to keep your buffs up as you swap weapons. This will be even more true if ig buffs stay off weapon, plus in general you will regardless be able to potentially double stack attack, defense, and mobility buffs depending on horn.
Definitely Greatsword and Switch Axe. My favorite weapons and now I can combine the joy slaping dragons with a helicopter blade and large explosions of elemental fury.
Number one Hammer because Bonk Number two. I'm kind of looking towards the Lance and gun Lance! I feel like the extra additions here make these weapons a complete powerhouse
I'm a HH main in World, but I'm extremely excited for Switchaxe and Gunlance in wilds. Of course I'm looking forward to Hunting Horn as well, but definitely excited to test them all and maybe fall in love with something new.
I wanna say double hammer but depending on how it works most likely hammer and hunting horn for some buffs. Not to mention I enjoy playing hunting horn on its own anyways. And then maybe swap one for Greatsword.
Im going to rock with DB and Bow and my two, they go well since you have to manage stamina with both and have great mobility. Need constitution and evasion skill bonuses and I’ll be good
Main: Hunting Horn (DOOT TEAM ALWAYS) Secondary: I'll pop between a few things to find what I like, usually a fan of the bowguns or the SnS, DBs, or LS
Going to be trying Gunlance this time. If I don't like it I'll fall back to my old faithful Charge Blade, but I want to give Gunlance a chance cause it looks fun
Main: Hammer
Secondary: A weapon that only exists so I can finally cut tails
Greatsword, it feels impactful like the hammer you will enjoy it

Long sword main for life but I think I’m going to dabble in GS and CB as alts. Both look really fun too.
i hope the control scheme is the same for attacks as world, it would flow very well and the graphics seems to be on par
Yeah, especially since this is my first time playing any monster hunter game, this guid is amazing. Was thinking of gun lance, and now im gonna im planning on going for switch axe, maybe long sword/charge blade as a second
Insect Glaive main, so that will be my primary, but was considering heavy bowgun as the secondary, maybe trying to use it while riding/pursuit.
Charge blade gang. Standing by to cut and smash.
I actually already know what to use its just i cant get enough of mh wilds videos and i cant wait another week to play the demo
Primary: Hunting Horn
Secondary: Insect Glaive
I love the movement and flexibilty these two weapons provide.
Although they really clipped the IG users wings.

Gunlance and charge blade for me!
For sure taking switch axe and hunting horn, by far my 2 favorite looking weapons in terms of aesthetics and new moves
Primary: Greatsword
Secondary: Hammer
Yes same
Definitely Greatsword and Switch Axe. My favorite weapons and now I can combine the joy slaping dragons with a helicopter blade and large explosions of elemental fury.
Gunlance and Long sword. My favorite weapons to play.
Long sword and hammer, best of both worlds.
Also swapping in and out for switch axe, dual blades, and insect glaive.
the GL has a Drill that "can pierce the heavens" gotta love me some Tengen Toppa reference
CB and Bow
Loving the changes to both!
However SNS is going to be a definite try for me on Beta weekend. It may be my Main with Bow.
I was always more of a Greatsword/SwitchAxe guy, in the mood to go dual blades now though
Im going to be trying lance for the very first time!
Number one Hammer because Bonk
Number two. I'm kind of looking towards the Lance and gun Lance! I feel like the extra additions here make these weapons a complete powerhouse
Switch Axe was my main in World/Rise
Also Hunting Horn
Great sword with the free aim mechanic they added is absolutely GOATED. You can’t miss the big charge attack now
Gunlance for sure! Maybe Charge Blade or Hammer too
damn. i'm going to need to rethink my whole build now that you can bring two weapons at once!
I'm a HH main in World, but I'm extremely excited for Switchaxe and Gunlance in wilds. Of course I'm looking forward to Hunting Horn as well, but definitely excited to test them all and maybe fall in love with something new.
I use all, but what I like using
No.1 Gunlance 💣
No.2 HBG/LBG 🤠
No.3 Hammer🤯
No.4 great sword (first Love)❤️
No.5 switch Axe (MH-Tri Vet)
No.6 Bow (🦠🦌🎇)
No.7 Duel Blades (Kirito/Sung jinwhoo
No.8 charge blade (MH4U Vet)
No.9 Longsword (🥺
No.10 SnS🥺
No.11 insect glaive🤔
No.12 Hunting horn🫡
No.13 lance 😂
Leaning hunting horn this weekend just for the beta!
Definitely having Lance as my first and to add some spice (plus I'm hyped for the changes) I'll have Bow for my secondary.
Probably Lance mostly then switch between SnS, Greatsword, Hammer. But will most likely try most weapons in the end game :)
Got to be Gunlance, and an LBG. Indescribably excited for this , lets' gooo!
Hopefully the lance is at least on par with the gunlance. I love my pokey sticks!
I loved the DB from world, so probably will start with that.
To balance it, maybe something with raw power and/or range
I wanna say double hammer but depending on how it works most likely hammer and hunting horn for some buffs. Not to mention I enjoy playing hunting horn on its own anyways. And then maybe swap one for Greatsword.
Im going to rock with DB and Bow and my two, they go well since you have to manage stamina with both and have great mobility. Need constitution and evasion skill bonuses and I’ll be good
Charge Blade and Hunting horn for sure with hammer and switch ax also for different combinations
Main: Hunting Horn (DOOT TEAM ALWAYS)
Secondary: I'll pop between a few things to find what I like, usually a fan of the bowguns or the SnS, DBs, or LS
I’ll probably try gunlance and charge blade first because the changes to both those weapons look incredible
Was devoted to sword and shield since mh:gen. Might become an LS weeb after seeing the sheer Weebery of it
Or do both ;) be a super weeb and a defence lord
@@FaSGamezPersonally going full weeb, Dual blades/LS.
Absolute Gunlancer, with a splash of Bow.
Honestly though curious about dual blade updates, heavy bow gun
Can't wait for the game to be released
Think I'll do swaxe and hammer🔥best of both worlds! Bonk and boom!
Im rocking that hh and gs for that sweet wake up damage
Charge Blade and Hunting horn here, though gunlance has also become a recent favorite of mine
Dual blades or Sword and Shield + Bow most likely, might do some charge blade too
Been a Gunlance head for years now, and the new one looks better than ever. Though LBG and Sword n Shield look really fun, so I may give them a try.
I have my phd in charge blade ready! I think heavy bowgun might be fun to use while mounted as well
I'll be going in with G.lance and Hunting horn, as those two I've never tried. Comfort backup pick would be Swaxe and H.Bowgun!
Going to be trying Gunlance this time. If I don't like it I'll fall back to my old faithful Charge Blade, but I want to give Gunlance a chance cause it looks fun
I've loved Gunlance since its introduction, so it is an easy pick. Secondary though? Tough choice but maybe I'd give the Lance or Hunting Horn a go.
Now that we can have two I’m absolutely going with switch axe/hammer
