Shadow systems is a nice company. What got me to purchase a pistol from them was their customer service and their backing of their products. Those men&women at shadow systems are going it right. I've had their MR920L For 3 months now. Dam good.
They’re good people for sure
Coming from a 1911 with low rounds. I've had my eye on this platform. Heard they don't use their customers to test their products. Real world shooters selling a real-world product. I'm really glad they cycle the 147 grn. Since that's what I use. Thanks for doing all the work for me.
Thanks for watching
They absolutely do use their customers to test their products. I would know, I was one of them with the CR920. They never fixed it or made it right when I sent it in either. Just expected me to keep wasting money on ammo and keep sending it back in to them for months at a time so I eventually sold it.
@@2aTommyyour the only person I’ve ever heard with an issue with any of there guns. My guess is your too impatient to do the 2-300 round break in period. Which isn’t “testing”
I would recommend closing your ammo can while shooting next to it. Ive seen videos of hot brass landing on ammo and setting it off
Thanks for the concern, I’ve seen similar videos. Statistically unlikely and even if it did cook off, without a barrel to funnel the expanding gases through, the velocity - if any - would be negligible
Seriously, where do some people get their information…the internet? It is physically impossible for a “hot round” to set off properly loaded ammo that is just sitting nearby! Someone has been watching too many A-Team reruns!
Love shadows systems I CC my war Poet. They most definitely do have a break-in period. For ANYONE thinking of getting shadows system, make sure you put at least 150-200 rounds though it before you CC.
What he said. To be fair it says so in their manual. And also, if you just holster up without testing your CC, get your shit together. Test and prove.
@@AZoneReviews We still have a few misfires even after about 800 rounds (MR920)...and because of that...the overall confidence took a serious/unrepairable hit here. It's a great range gun but beyond that...nope.
Well I can say my EDC is a Sig P365 XL. 3500 rounds through and not one problem.
Thank you for such a detailed review.
Glad it was helpful!
Great review! Thanks bro!
I’ve had my Hellcat RDP for over 2 years now and it’s been awesome. The tool less comp is great but it came with 7 mags during their gear up event. I’m looking this cr920 next but may go with an XR.
Cr920p is definitely better than hellcat RDP is every way. But if you want a more full size gun rather than a hellcat or cr920. The XR920 is great.
@@SnD340 extremely subjective as you're not hearing about malfunctions and issues like you do on the SS CR920.
This is on my list for my next CCW
I picked up a cr920x and xp and will be reviewing them both.
That’s pretty awesome! I love my CR920, got 1500+ rounds thru it, I do t really want to spend the money but I’ll have to get me one of these, hope they make a little cheaper version without the slide cutouts and ribbed for her pleasure on the top, I don’t need all that. This gun is everything I wish Glock would have done to 43, it’s the reason I don’t own a G43, G43X, or a G48 anymore.
Yeah the window and top slide cut put me off aesthetically. They have said they plan to release the barrel/comp for owners of the original CR920 to upgrade.
Great review Been waiting for this gun forever
Excited to try one of these. I feel it will be hard to beat the Macro X and it's 17 round magazine. It shoots so flat, and gets right back on target.
My only issue with the macro is now we have subcompacts getting back to compact size. Why now just carry a Glock 19 or compact pistol, ya know?
@@AZoneReviews it’s so much thinner though. I could go for the 15 round length grip , but the slide length is great. Stubby barrels don’t go down far enough for me AIWB. Not many situations where I wouldn’t feel comfortable carrying a macro. For pocket carry I do have that SAS.
The best compensated 9mm subcompact handgun that is affordable and made by a great American manufacturer in Plano, TX. If I didn't already The best affordable 9mm subcompact handgun that is American-made in Plano, TX.
Very well done and presented 🇺🇸🤘🏾💪🏽
Thank you!
Would like to see this vs the Macro
Damn it man. I had heard about the FTF issues. I was considering adding this to my edc lineup but that’s too risky. Damn
Thank you for the review. I ended up getting the Hellcat RDP. Removable comp with no tools and SA gave me 5 extra mags on top of the ones in the bag. It shoot great and I ended up getting the Pro shortly after and took advantage of their mag/bag giveaway. All said and done I still carry my p365 Icarus Precision Macro lol.
Thanks for stopping by
Yeah hellcats are kinda trash. They get you with those 5 extra mags. On paper it sounds great but it’s decent at best.
Great comparison! I just got a CR920 a few months ago. Love it! During my break in, the only FTFs I had was using the 10 rd flush fit but I only plan to use the 13s so it didn’t bother me.
Did you notice the mags have a bit of junk on/in them from factory. I had to clean all my mags including additional ones purchased. They had a film of brown/orange residue on them.
My CR920P elite came with a Pinky extension. It works great.$10 on their website.
Shims for red dots?
I’m a shadow systems fanboy. I bought a CR920P over the weekend at their emailed list of places.
There’s shims for optics? I have their different wedges to secure the direct mount optic but yours had angled shims? Vortex’s new CCW optic reallllyyy needs some angled shims.
Did it seem to break in as you shot it? Like, did you get fewer stovepipes as the day went on? My first CR920 had issues, but I short it so well I grabbed another and it’s been great. Just ordered one of these to try out.
I am not a fan of ingress holes in slides, but since that’s all they offer I figure I’ll deal with it.
I really hope they come out with a 15-18rd mag for HD and/or backup mag. It wouldn’t need to be all grip-maybe just like 1/2” longer grip than the 13rd, then just a square extension below that. But right now, I think every other micro-9 has access to 15-20rd mags (P365s, Hellcats, MC9, Shield Plus, etc.).
Yep I got less and less as the day went on. Shot it some yesterday and no misfeeds or stove pipes with 115, 125, 147.
I have the cr 920. Any pistol over 600$ is goid enough😅🎉
Pretty awesome, wish you check if you can switch barrels
You can but the slide and barrel won’t line up as well
Could you run the flush barrel and recoil spring in the CR920P’s slide?
Great review brother
Much appreciated
Man I wish they would sell this barrel and comp for the original cr920. I love mine but this would just make it that much better
I was at one of the launch events for this gun in Texas. I spoke directly to the CEO. He said there would be a barrel/comp combo available for sale for older CR920’s, but no ETA on when.😎✌️
Does the original not come with a threaded barrel?
The only problem is the bevel on the front of the original CR920 slide verses the sheared flat front for this comp model. To put this comp on a CR would leave a gap between the two.
Love mine. Just a couple ftf within the first mag, but ran smooth after that. I used 124g bullets to break it in.
Question, does your compensator look like it has developed a build up, or marring?
It's not a cleanliness issue, I have cleaned and polished since breaking it in. Inside the cavity of the comp is looking a little funky.
Same here. I guess that’s normal. Idk
Seems they do that. No matter how hard I clean 🧼 it. It won’t come off
Where do you get these Shadow Systems sidearms at? I notice on their site it doesn’t appear that you can just order one. But I live in a smaller town and don’t think there are any dealers close to me.
Bass pro for sure carries them, but they’re pretty common now. I just found them on buds - www.budsgunshop.com/search.php/q/shadow+systems
Thx!
Do you think the difference in speed from concealment was due to trigger break in. I noticed that as I ran my MR920 more, the trigger got better. I’ve since compared to friends Shadow Systems (when they were new) and had a similar result.
I mean all guns shoot better when you break them in. And I shoot an MR920’pretty fast since it’s my go to, but I shoot a Dr920p pretty dang fast too.
Picked up one (CR920P) today looking for a good holster ? And I’m thinking about run the Holoson EPS Carry and a tlr-7 sub
Wanted to know your opinion on the eps carry for cr920p
Big fan of Tier 1 but there’s a long wait. Trex arms’ sidecar is a good option although for conceal ability - for me - t1c wins.
Have only messed with the eps a little but an enclosed micro dot is a solid option for an edc.
@@AZoneReviews is it the G48 or the 43 for the cr920p
@@jaiquanstudios4165 most if not all g48mos holsters are compatible with the 920p
Talked with T1 they recommend the V2 they said no elites
Do you still edc this handgun? If not what did you switch to and why?
Thanks!
Yes from time to time. I’m posting an update soon and an overview of all shadow systems pistols
At the range you might need to voice over or a better mic.
CR stands for “Covert Role” it’s a sub.
We all can go home everyone, he’s correct.
Could you switch slides ? Im curious if i can just seek out cr920p slide for my cr920 so i dont have to buy another gun
Yes you can swap slides.
6:00 you have to break it in
Yup I said that.
Do you still get ftf/stove pipes post break in periods on your ss?
Only ever get them on compensated models and as I shoot them it’s far and few between. I’m the CR920p now after only a few hundred rarely has an issue
Howd you get one already? Went to the launching?
I write for RECOIL, Gun Digest and a few other pubs.
@@AZoneReviews oh nice. I wanted to be a writer when I was young but then realized how much you have to read... So I just started writing songs😉
CR = covert role
Not compact role.
Sorry my OCD had to point that out. Otherwise great info
This is accurate, I misspoke.
@@AZoneReviews no biggie. Good stuff tho
Does anyone know what holster is available for this firearm with tlr 7 sub and red dot?
If you find out let me know because I’m also looking, lol.
Should be any G48 mos/red dot/tlr7 sub.
im using a "we the people holster" made for the m&p 2.0 it fits fine for the cr920p i think
For $175 give or take you can sent your uppder to Magna Port International and get your firearm ported. Theres no need for a comp, which add a few inches to the barrel and instead if having a sub compact firearm youre havinf almost a full size one, which in my opinion doesnt make sense
Fair point on the size increase but ported firearms are a great way to blind yourself temporarily in the event you need to discharge it at night - which is more likely to happen.
@@AZoneReviews training prevents you from getting "blinded" also, todays porter pistols don't blind, its the ammo being used if its NATO armor, etc then they will produce more gas...
Has anyone who owns both try to switch the barrel in cr920p into the regular cr
You can but it doesn’t look right
@@AZoneReviews how does the regular cr920 barrel look in the cr920p slide? I was thinking of getting the P and buying the regular barrel to effectively have both guns. The only difference I can see in the slide is the P slide isn’t beveled at the end.
Problems from the start, huh?
Not really, they clearly say their guns need a break in period. I ran another 100 or so rounds through it and had no failures of any kind
Stick a swampfox kraken on it 🤣
Lol where’d that come from?
This gun is not reliable. To many videos of this gun not cycling rounds 😮😢
All their guns have a marked break in period.
Smith csx is best subcompact
That’s a no for me, dawg.
@@AZoneReviews everyone has an opinion...
