- Tutorial on loose fiber braiding basics for sling making.
I had to overlay a song because there was a lot of ambient audio noise (barking dogs, clanging pans in the kitchen, and some grunting and sobbing from behind the camera). - Спорт
Just saw this...I always thought you needed long strands, but now I see you can add as you go. Very Cool!
Indeed! One can actually braid/twist with quite short fibers and make long ropes. See this video at the timestamp for a demonstration. ua-cam.com/video/pO4ERyUXdYU/v-deo.html
EXCELLENT tutorial!! Many slingers don't known this Balearic technique (the _empalme_ or adding fibres). It is essential to braid a quality sling. By the way, you can also do this with polypropylene twine. In many cases, the twine is also twisted, so you can make it into thin fibres. Cheers!!
Very true! Archaic Arms has made a number of high quality Balearic slings with fibers like polypropylene and polysteel. I never have personally. I hear they work very well
It's like the way you add fiber when making cordage. Friction does its thing and helds it all in place.
Thank you! I’ve always wondered how braiding with fiber was done! Now all I need is some damn fiber…
If you still need fibre a year later, you can cut sisal twine into segments maybe a cubit each in length and soak them in water! That will loosen the twist enough to allow for ease of breaking down further into fibre. I definitely recommend it compared to working with just twine; material addition and subtraction is a breeze, and the only thing stopping your sling's length is the amount of fibre you have collected!
Nice tutorial and music! )
Muy bien 🖖
