It wasn't your fault for robichaud's crash, he got out of your way easily, it was Banuls who kept his foot on the gas and bulldozed his way through him. He should have backed off and fell in line.
Cheers, yeah I know I did everything right after the spin, staying still and leaving the gap for them. But I still felt guilty 🤣 such a foolish blunder and caused a massive blockage on a blind corner. Incredibly lucky I was able to rejoin so quickly. Late enough in the race to have opened up a big gap over most of the cars behind.
We’ve all done it. Hard to lap that mountain and not make a mistake. You made a clean rejoin in a tough spot and limited the damage to others. All you can do there.
That was about to be your best race ever (I'm including 1 or 2 that you won. This race had much faster competition). Still, it ended up easily being one of your best 5😂
Haha thanks, yeah if you’d offered me P4 at the start, I’d have been well happy with that. I was driving really well until that momentary brain freeze at the end. You never know, I may yet get promoted to the podium… if that Nissan driver who caused the T1 crash gets reported, he’ll drop below me with a time penalty.
You had me at 'driving flawlessly'. I was waiting for the mistake after that. You handled it as well as possible. Lesser mortals with fewer scruples would have screwed everybody else. Just unfortunate for the one that ran into you.
Ah mate what a great drive! It’s awesome how much your pace and confidence has improved. A bit more composure late on and that would surely have been one of your best LFM results??
Yeah definitely among the best! Even with the stupid mistake, the fact my pace was so strong meant there was such a huge gap back to the cars behind (after P5) that I was still able to rejoin safely in a high position. So a lot to be positive about… just a shame the race wasn’t 20 minutes instead of 25 🤣
This is a circuit I hate. Your pace is well above what mine has traditionally been. Last time I drove around here on LFM, my fastest time was a 2.06, I think and my SR dropped so much that I ended up back in Rookies!! That was a real head in my hands moment at the end there. I was waiting for it after seeing the thumbnail and I thought "uh oh, he's carrying too much speed and is gonna lose it." I could see it happening before it did. People forget that a yellow flag means no overtaking, but when you're already in the middle of a battle, pulling out of a move goes against the grain.
Yeah, that’s the problem. If they’d have been battling in single file, they’d have both got through fine. It was probably on the BMW to lift and back off. A bit like I did on the previous lap when I saw the crash ahead at the Skyline… however it was far easier for me to do it, as I wasn’t in the middle of a battle for position!
I know when you start using phrases like ‘can it continue’ and ‘not put a foot wrong so far,’ something heartbreaking is around the corner. Keep carrying on Christopher.
Man I really miss playing ACC and other sims, too bad I don't have space for the rig at this moment. Will maybe need to wait another year before I'll be able to play again. Great video Chris, thanks for letting us enjoy your racing!
Ahh mate, sorry you’re unable to jump into the action. Hopefully you’ll get something sorted in 2025. In the meantime, I’m glad you’re able to enjoy a dose of sim racing with my vids. Cheers 😃
You did a great job re-joining after your mishap. Simply bad luck for the guys behind. I've given up on ACC lately - I don't like the way it feels. All of my racing is in AC. I'm really looking forward to AC EVO. How about you?
Thank you. It seems bizarre to say, but the rejoin is actually the thing I’m most proud of from this race! When it comes to rejoining as safely as possible at Bathurst, it was about as good as you could get 🤣 As for AC Evo, really excited for it. It’s a safe bet that I’ll be buying it on release day!
Don't be too harsh on yourself, Chris! The mistake was yours when you spun and hit the wall. You have no fault for the cars behind you not making it through the small gap. They got the flags and it's up to them to get through safely. It would be a different story had you not locked brakes or backed up into them as they passed. But you did neither. As for the Lambo losing it at Skyline... oh! I feel for him. That's so easy to do! I can't count how many times I did that learning the track. The track dips and kinks at just the same point when you need to brake and turn. Sooo easy to lose it!
Thank you, yeah I knew I did everything right once I’d spun, and actually rejoined about as cleanly as is possible when you’re stuck in that situation. But I still felt very guilty, particularly as it was such a careless mistake! Exactly the same problem as you highlighted about the Skyline, where you have to combine braking with changing the car’s direction… there’s that little left-hand kink right at the braking point, and I just left my foot off the brake for the slightest moment too long as I went through it. Really unfortunate the guys were two wide… if they’d have been battling in single file, it would have been fine. Always drama at Bathurst!
Another great race report Chris, shame about the momentary lapse. If I was the BMW driver there ideally you would concede that place back to the Bentley but it's not like there is much room to pull over and wait is there!! Tough one to call as to what is right and wrong in the moment isnt it..
Yeah, exactly that. So little time to react and make a decision for any of us. I did the only thing I could do, and stay perfectly still until they got past. I thought I’d got away with it when I didn’t feel any contact, but then saw the Bentley crashed out as I rejoined. Such a shame to end like that, but an entertaining race nonetheless! 😃
Oh boy oh boy, even doing this race on a Monday, pretty brave chris. haven't watched the video yet but i can already guess in what kind of direction this could go haha
@@chrisrogerssimracing yeah just finished watching it. binning it on the mountain is probably the worst that can happen 😅. But shit happens, you still made P4! :)
@@Daniel_csteYeah exactly, binning it on the mountain and still finishing in the top 5 is definitely a lucky escape! I’m relieved there was such a gap back to the other cars, gave me time to rejoin safely after letting the first few through.
Unlucky there Chris, great racing overall mate, not your fault Bathurst can be so narrow sometimes, being side ways with nowhere to go is not fun, I think you actually handled getting back on track really cleanly. Just unfortunate, but the flags would have been out, you pulled up a bit previously, maybe they could have to?
Thanks mate, yeah I did the only thing I could do and stay perfectly still. If they’d have been chasing each other single file, it would have been fine. But yeah you’re right, the wise thing to do is to lift and ease off when you see the flags. It was easier for me though, as I wasn’t fighting for position 🤣 cheers
Nice race but unlucky there Chris! Can't beat a bit of Bathurst. It's one of the few motor racing circuits I've driven around IRL. I took my V6 Ford Explorer around there when I lived in Australia. The mountain section is just insane when you drive it.
Ah wow, that must have been spectacular. I love seeing the chopper cam shots over the mountain, it really does look a sensational place to watch (and exhilarating to drive) motorsport.
It's not terrifying track - the word you were looking for is terrific :D For me the mountain section is, along with the section of Nordschleife between carrousels, the best piece of racing tarmac ever 😍 what i love about that circuit as whole is that after you get through the mountain section, you just chill on those straights with just couple of corners, with some occassional slipstreaming - until you're back under the mountain again :)
Dammit Chris. Just dammit. However, that track marshal needs fired. Obliviously waving the green flag right beside your parked car! LOL great race anyways! Keep it up!
Grasping defeat from the jaws of victory 😬 Unlucky really and so easy to do. My usual is a wall slap on Forest Elbow, but the mountain demands you push hard, otherwise mistakes are more likely! That podium will greet you again soon enough mate. 🎉
Ahh yes, that’s another corner I regularly tick off on my Bathurst crash bingo card! I’m still slightly hopeful I may yet get a podium from this race. If the white Porsche reports the guy behind who hit him at T1, and he gets a time penalty, that should promote me up to P3. Clutching at straws!
@@chrisrogerssimracing with your pace though you shouldn't have had to be keeping your fingers crossed. These things happen and I'm sure you'll get the rub of the luck soon enough!
@@TeqqlesdoessimracingAhh thanks mate. Feeling optimistic for Imola in a couple of weeks. Probably skipping Valencia next week as I don’t really fancy learning it 🤣
Yeah, I love driving it. I always have a terrible fear of being stuck horizontally across track with fast cars approaching and no chance of getting out the way, and sadly it came true here 🤣
Haha yes. I’m wondering if the white Porsche will report him. If so, that will give me a podium position back… as the guy who forgot to brake was one of the drivers who got past me at the end 🤞 clutching at straws haha
Well chris, i dont see blood on your hands you did everything right after your crash, you didnt move at all. The one who rammed you and the poor Bentley should have be hard on the breaks but he didnt do so. except from your one mistake, nice driving from you.
Ahh thanks mate, yeah despite the silly mistake, I was actually pretty proud of the rejoin! Waited when I needed to, moved when I needed to, and did everything right. Just a shame about the careless mistake in the first place 🤣 cheers

Thank you mate, yeah only the one mistake, but it was a biggie!
