I don’t feel like this is a real story until there’s an Audi branded car on the grid. No one in the wider audience sees anything Audi related on race day.
Sauber did 1 good thing: they made a clearly distinctive car. Bright green = Sauber But all those people now in charge say they are good at making and running F1 cars. It's time, in a few months, to show some potential.
Makes sense owning 100% F1 team by a car manufacturer seems very risky. The business model of Mercedes is something great, Mercedes gets the benefit of all the marketing it needs by having a team but Totto who knows F1 and what it means to race a motor car owns it 40%. Mercedes doesn’t have to worry about who is running and on point. More or less that is what we need across the paddock because car manufacturers doesn’t equal race car winning team. Obviously there is no perfect model for running an F1 team but definitely need diversifying risk across couple of stakeholders who knows a thing about F1.
If there is so much money pouring into F1, surely we could have a couple of more teams?? Wasn't that part of the reason for the cost cap? Sustainability for new teams, not to enrich the 10 current teams. We need more cars on the grid. If there are only going to be 10 teams allowed then they should run 3 cars. Eg 2 cars could be branded Audi and a third branded VW or Skoda for a rookie seat?? 2 Aston Martins and a 3rd branded Honda for Yuki??
Every time I watch one of these videos about Audi's woes or how Andretti can't get any traction to get a new team into F1, I just get this feeling that F1 is and wants to remain a completely closed "elite" level sport. Just the old boys, no newcomers. Not a good look for the sport.
Meanwhile Andretti has the engine, the funding, the racing team knowledge, the test track, the facilities to build the car, AND US senator backing, and yet these teams that aren’t even sure if they want to be in the sport are allowed to go through. It’s laughable.
F1 ownership and the running of the FIA needs a massive overhaul as saying GM can't join as an extra team when more seats are desperately needed. And then making certain main races in Europe rotate while they can't even sell tickets to a crappy street race in the us. And having to half the ticket price and still tickets are everywhere just shows how poorly it's run and bad decision are made.
This is what happens when a team used to doing well in a lesser category of motorsport thinks it can waltz in to F1 and be competitive from the outset, but with the same mindset, management and technical and engineering knowhow from that lesser category (i.e. LMP1 sportscar racing). There’s certainly a well trodden pattern because Porsche, Peugeot, BMW, Toyota, all did ok in sportscar racing, but failed in F1, whether it be as a team or engine supplier. And Audi is struggling before they’ve even begun. Stick to sportcar racing Audi, you now know where your limitations are.
I have more faith in a private team like Andretti coming in than a road car advertising team like Audi or Porsche. I personally don't think Audi will last long in the sport. Too many corporate bosses, too many chiefs
VW-Audi should focus on fixing their car business. VW is having to close factories in Germany. VW's German workers and German unions are stunned. Everybody wants to be in F1 just before a big recession. How many times have Honda left F1 due to recessions, oil shocks and other economic problems? Germany and Western Europe were wealthy over the past 25 years due to fairly cheap and reliable gas & oil from Russia.
Audi could have gotten a serious TP like Steiner but they got Sbinnoto No wonder why Carlos prefered Williams. Its a shame since audi could make f1 more competitive
Since VW group aren't doing well, for the first time we are seeing closure of German plants, buggati brand was sold to rimac some years ago, audi exiting all motorsports and making an excuse to solely focus on f1, Lamborghini exited wec recently, VW and Skoda are exiting some markets. All in all these are not good sign and all sub brands should be worried.
I'm sorry this is not a red flag or a U turn as they're reporting, Audi being part of the VW group is having financial difficulties right now but when audi bought the F1 team they were in a cushy financial position, so considering the financial state has changed they saw an offer being made and took the opportunity ...... The main problem is this team is not made from ground up since what audi is usually used to and they could have handled the transition from a sauber team to audi team better, but considering they're doing this kinda for time first time they have made some serious errors, but considering there are teams like alpine who are barely surviving and lets not forget how williams were not performing for so many years, who just now have had an uptick in form that too minimal and not to mention after infusion of money by the investment group ...... This is F1, teams should be judged on 3 to 5 year timeline of performance , things will improve for the team but it will take time
Also, what actually is the news here? "Some people think it may be possible Audi might have decided to maybe sell a small, smaller, large or larger part of the shares of Sauber to QIA"?
Carlos Sainz's decision to sign with Williams makes more sense all the time......
Some people were behaving as if he is the stupidest driver on the grid for choosing Williams over Audi and Alpine.

And meanwhile Andretti is still fighting to join the grid as a fully independent team…
Andretti isn't really fully independent as its funded by American investment groups 😂😂
I can't wait to see how the old boys stack up against the rookies in each of their teams.
Do you have a video about the details on who owns what for the entire grid?
Good video. Thanks.
No problem
@@rodrigomolinsky Pfft. Stolen valour. What a FlAG.
I don’t feel like this is a real story until there’s an Audi branded car on the grid. No one in the wider audience sees anything Audi related on race day.
The day I see a car with an Audi logo on the starting grid is the day I will actually believe Audi is truly in Formula One
With the Sauber “S” on the car, and Audi after that… sounds like Saudi Arabia could get some free ad placement out of the deal 🤔
The fact that it costs upwards of £1 billion to buy an F1 team now just goes to show how bad inflation has got. In 2009 Brawn bought Honda for £1.
Laying off workers while investing more into F1 is a bad look. They have to continue because they already spent too much to back out now.
GM should have been allowed to join.
I was looking forward to a buttonless piano black gloss f1 car, pitty! Now they have to continue that crap in their regular cars again…
Sauber did 1 good thing: they made a clearly distinctive car.
Bright green = Sauber
But all those people now in charge say they are good at making and running F1 cars.
Of course it is an exclusive elite sport. That's the whole point.
it's a gentleman's sport...it wasn't meant for cowboys to race
The last time I saw mismanagement this bad was after the acquisition of wtf1
I would call it Andretti Karma - for they way FIA rejected this bid, now it is nor sure there is 20 competitive cars.
Hope Andretti GM buys in
Man, a few months ago I was so looking forward to Audi's project, and hoping Sainz will hop on with them. How the tables turn...
Just bring in Andretti
I bet within 2-3 years Audi will fully sell the team. 😂 VW will never join F1
Why doesn't Andretti step in🤷
Meanwhile Andretti has the engine, the funding, the racing team knowledge, the test track, the facilities to build the car, AND US senator backing, and yet these teams that aren’t even sure if they want to be in the sport are allowed to go through. It’s laughable.
But Andretti/Cadillac isn't ready to enter the grid.
smh
F1 ownership and the running of the FIA needs a massive overhaul as saying GM can't join as an extra team when more seats are desperately needed. And then making certain main races in Europe rotate while they can't even sell tickets to a crappy street race in the us. And having to half the ticket price and still tickets are everywhere just shows how poorly it's run and bad decision are made.
Andretti : Hi. 😅
You mean Binotto hasn’t turned things around yet?!? I am SHOCKED, shocked I tell you.
That's great for Andretti
I am interested to put the offer 👍
Remember when F1 was about racing and drivers not economies and shareholders?
Audi could have gotten a serious TP like Steiner but they got Sbinnoto
No wonder why Carlos prefered Williams.
Its a shame since audi could make f1 more competitive
I remember when new manufacturer teams actually got onto the grid before shitting the bed. Now they just shit themselves on their way to the bed
It feels kinda sad to see sauber go from the the, like they are the one who had given future champions a seat like raikkonen, massa, leclerc,
I love how Audi are outdoing Toyota in the incompetence stakes and haven’t even turned a wheel in anger yet. That honestly takes some doing!
Every day i get more pissed that F1 won't allow more than 10 teams anymore. Andrettis team would be such a much more well run and all in investment.
Since VW group aren't doing well, for the first time we are seeing closure of German plants, buggati brand was sold to rimac some years ago, audi exiting all motorsports and making an excuse to solely focus on f1, Lamborghini exited wec recently, VW and Skoda are exiting some markets. All in all these are not good sign and all sub brands should be worried.
seems like VW are struggling a bit with its finances
This is F1, teams should be judged on 3 to 5 year timeline of performance , things will improve for the team but it will take time
Is it not concerning that there selling part of there team possibly ending up like McLaren?
@@jermainenowels9511McLaren won the constructors. Looking at condition they’re the only team will end up well lol
Andretti here we go lol
Also, what actually is the news here?
"Some people think it may be possible Audi might have decided to maybe sell a small, smaller, large or larger part of the shares of Sauber to QIA"?
I think that having an f1 team is just a great perk to keep combustine engine engineers in the company.
