    It has been a very difficult month. In fact, it has been slowly getting more difficult month after month since November of 2021. It will get better for whomever is able to survive the attrition. I list 50 a day and have cut all staff to just myself. I have reduced my storage needs and am also looking after little kids full time. It is a hard grind but it will get better. Cheers!

    Take it for what it's worth - but I have similar inventory volume and don't do promoted listings :) And had great sales still... Maybe just something to cut down your cost a little!

    My sales have been slow. I haven’t been listing much but at some point I can’t keep buying and listing if it’s not selling. I feel like the live sales have had an effect on everyone’s sales especially Whatnot where they are selling stuff for $5 when it would normally sell for $50. It’s insane

    I have sold on posh a really long time. The last few months I noticed I haven’t been getting my funds from sales within 72 hours if the buyer doesn’t accept. I have been having to notify posh. Please be aware of this! One sale was over 200$. Most of my sales are closer to 20$ but they still need to run me my money!

    I have the best luck selling Ferragamo and Hermes patterned ties, which I do find at the thrift (GW primarily). But I also do well with vintage ties from Lanvin, Givenchy, and other similar designers. I also do okay with Vineyard Vines novelty patterned ties, so I pick them up as long as I can get them for .50 to $3. As you say, they are easy to store, quick to list, and simple to ship, and the profit can be good. I sometimes make more money on a tie than I do on a dress or jacket, depending on the tie.

    Ties…my husband does not wear them, but he has amassed quite a collection of Jerry Garcia ties. They do pretty well, but I’m sure he’ll hang into them until we’re both gone and someone will snag them at our estate sale! I have a tote full of other ties he is willing to part with but I’m not motivated to list them. I did have luck with sets that included a tie and hankie that were new and colorful. I sold a Tiffany tie once, but surprisingly it took months! Hence my lack of enthusiasm about ties.

    Designer ties, I look for 100% silk only ties and designer brands (Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry, D&G etc) and interesting patterns and monograms, holiday patterns, Disney, plain or striped ties don't really move for me.

    Reading the comments regarding lower sales, I am wonderful if more people are thrifting for themselves? I know I have been. I have learned a lot by watching these types of videos and picked some very nice things for myself for very little money. I made my 1st trip to the bins on Saturday (that was crazy!) and averaged paying $1 an item. Boutique brands, one Athleta item, one Banana Republic wool sweater, Nike hat, an Anthropology brand Capri jeans that didn't fit, older line went in my donate bag.

    Love this style video! It’s helpful to see what you’re selling and for what price. Couple questions, why don’t you use priority tyvek envelopes for all Poshmark sales and how do you get Mercari labels to print on your label printer? I can’t get the orientation right. I’ve sold a few ties for $18-25. David Donahue, Salvatore Ferragamo. My sales have been very slow!! Liked your comment about Austin. That’s where I live. I remember an old video when you sourced in Austin. Unfortunately our goodwill’s have gone crazy with prices! It’s hard to make a profit. I hope things are going better for you. You deserve much happiness and success!!🥰🥰

    My march sales have been terrible.... and I have been listing, what I think is good quality stuff. I have been taking super low offers, listing a lot I just got for $0.27 per item at a fill a bag event... all lower ticket items with exception of a few, but I figured if that's what is selling... go with it.

    : : I thought about this as well. In my business classes our text books always referred to Gross as before anything is subtracted from your sale (such as fees, taxes, shipping, COG, expenses in order to sell the item, etc) and Net as what is left over after you’ve subtracted all of the above. Hmm interesting. : :

    I’m having a very good month in the number of items being sold, but people are definitely buying lower priced items. I’m up in profit, but not by as much as I would expect based on the volume of items being sold. Not complaining, I could be down all around! Just an observation.
    I have had good luck with quality novelty/specialty ties, things like colleges, holidays, car makes, trendy food/alcohol brands etc.

    Sales are slow for me but I blame it on myself. I use PosherVA which is a huge timesaver. My problem is, I work a full time job and when I get home I have zero to give for Poshmark. I haven’t been listing consistently for a couple months. The sales I do get are the lower end items. I still love thrifting and reselling. I just need to find a routine that will work for me with my full time job. Thanks for all you do. Keep up the good work!

    THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!! THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE MONEY ON THESE PLATFORMS IS TO HAVE A UA-cam CHANEL WHERE YOU TALK ABOUT THE PLATFORMS. UA-camRS ARE PRIORITIZED ABOVE EVERY ONE ELSE AND THEY KNOW IT. THEY WON'T TELL YOU THIS BECAUSE THAT WON'T MAKE THEM MONEY IF YOU KNOW. IT TAKES AWAY FROM THEIR SALES.

    I'm finding that those who cross-post have fewer sales on eBay. For example. I have a friend who has less than 150 items and I have almost 400. Her prices are high and or around what I would put, her items are what I buy and sell too but she sells double the amount than myself on eBay? She does not crosspost, she only sells on eBay. I have another who has 500 items that only sell on eBay and she sells well. But all those I know who crossposts sales are much slower. Is this consistent for all of you who crosspost? She does no promotion, no instagram .

    Hey. You’re mixing up the words “gross” and “net”. GROSS is total before anything taken out of it. NET is the profit after all fees and shipping (edit: and ALL other costs) are taken out. (EDIT: would maybe be better to say “sales” and then “then so my actual profit is…..”

    • @jackiegerarde9938
      @jackiegerarde9938 Рік тому +8

      No she's right. Most everyone on youtube includes shipping and fees in their gross. Wrong. Net is what's left after ALL expenses. I worked in accounting for years. But I don't think most people pay attention until time to do their taxes so it doesn't matter.

    • @MogiBeth
      @MogiBeth  Рік тому +1

      Hey! Yes, Jackie is right. Net would include costs such as my rent, software, etc. (aka ALL my costs). Gross profit is my profit after any costs associated with the production/sale of goods (also knows as cost of goods sold). I think this article explains it well: www.masterclass.com/articles/gross-profit-vs-net-income

      @@MogiBeth love watching you!!! You are such an inspiration! Just a side note though. So I read the article you linked and I am also a jewelry seller on Etsy. My net is what I make after my fees, supplies, shipping etc. not just software, rent etc. Net is what is left. Software, rent etc is considered overheard that I add a percentage of into my prices. On Poshmark that’s probably not something you want to add since you need to keep aware of comps. But net is what’s left AFTER you add your costs of goods, PM fee and shipping. Hope this helps!

    Ties - woof. I’ve picked up a few brands over the year (Hilfiger, Armani, Dior and YSL). The ONLY ties that ever sell for me are the YSL ties and they usually go for $20-$25. I’m shocked Dior doesn’t move. Of course it helps if the logo is visible and not just on the back. 2023 has been rough, sales wise. My sales were steadily rising until the infamous algorithm change of 2022. I started cross-listing to Ebay and Mercari at that time and am struggling to have the sales numbers I had a year ago.
