    Excellent instructional video on lense replacement. My local Honda dealer wanted $980 parts and labor to change lenses on my 2013 Civic. Bought the parts new on Amazon for $150 for a set. Watched your video and completed the job in 45 minutes.

      Local dealer in Edmonton yesterday quoted me 750$ for one plus 450$ labor. 1950$ alltogether. Honda Civic 2012.

    Owned 2 Civics. Great cars, but what happened to being able to access the headlights by just opening the hood like in the old days?

      Those were the old days. That's what happened. My flip phone is back there somewhere! 😉

      So folks like myself, who know nothing about cars, can't easily find help to do it ourselves

    Great Video. My 2012 civic still has the original headlight buckets, and look brand NEW. The guy i purchased the car from never drove it in the day time since new. He worked from 11pm to 4;30 am. Drove his Truck on weekends.
    So in order to keep your headlights new is to get a night shift job.

    This video really helped me replace the headlights everything went smooth
    Side note I ordered my headlights from Amazon
    And the bulb socket for the turn signals was really loose in the new headlights so if this happens to you just go to auto zone and buy the universal rubber O- rings from doorma and put 1 more that’ll create a snug seal and problem solved hopefully this helps anyone

    I just changed my front light on my honda civic 2015.
    Open the hood and just changed it.
    It took me 2 minutes.
    Cost of the light ?? 20$.

      Yeah but that doesn’t help if your lens is cloudy from the inside. Visibility at night won’t be improved much

    do you recall what length of the extension you needed for the socket?

      About 9 inch extension. I didn’t have one that long so connected 2 shorter ones together.

      @cwboydgo323 Thanks! I wrote this song on my iPad a while ago. I don't remember what I called it. I'll have to dig it up and use it in my videos more often. One day, I'll make an album of my songs.

    Is there any way to adjust the aim of these head lights?

    • @makerhackshack5608
      @makerhackshack5608  10 місяців тому

      I don't think these lenses were adjustable. There might be some headlights with adjustable beams out there, but these were fixed.

    I'm currently having trouble getting the headlight assemblies out from the front. I've removed all 3 screws for each housing and have releases the small plastic latch on top. As much as I apply force to pull it straight out or in any angle, it won't come out.

    • @makerhackshack5608
      @makerhackshack5608  Рік тому

      There are a few plastic snap tabs in there. I can't remember exactly where they are or how I manipulated them to get them to release. Worst case scenario they break and you find replacements at the auto parts store.

    Wait.. Lense replacement? or headlight replacement?!

  • @PartikleVT

    Doesnt look too bad, I have a 2014 tourer (EU thing I believe), but it looks to be almost identical, just different shape light and bumper. All the metal structures look identical. We'll see what happens, I really just need to change bulbs but its so tight I'm better off taking it apart.

    • @PartikleVT
      @PartikleVT Рік тому

      Easy peasy, needs some light percussion when assembling. The tourer has mudguards etc that make things a little different but nothing dramatic.

    Did you buy the new lenses from the dealer or did you buy aftermarket and if aftermarket do you remember the name of the company?

    • @makerhackshack5608
      @makerhackshack5608  Рік тому +3

      I bought the lenses on ebay. I picked the cheapest option that fit the car year, make, and model.

    It would have been helpful if you've been said each of the three types of lights you were replacing . I mean how do they called. Because I don't know how do I look for them at the store.

    • @makerhackshack5608
      @makerhackshack5608  Рік тому

      I replaced the entire headlight lense. You can go on the internet or to an auto parts store, provide the year, make, model (2012 honda civic) and what you want (driver side and passenger side headlight lense). The internet or parts manager will find the part you need.

      Look on the outside of the headlight, you'll see H11 and 9005. Then the side light should be on the far ends.

    You could have easily restored those with a kit

    • @zeus_2001
      @zeus_2001 Рік тому +3

      Restoration doesn't always look that good and doesn't last very long before the plastic is hazy again. I did restoration on my headlights and ended up replacing the headlights anyways.

    • @trentsullivan3717
      @trentsullivan3717 Рік тому

      @zeus_2001 It depends on how you do it and what kind of kit you buy or products you use. It doesn't really even have to be a kit. You want I finish it off with some kind of clear coating to protect it , whether that's a wipe on resin coating or a spray on coating specifically made for headlights or really the best way to do it would be to hit them with some clear coat spray paint. Something durable like a clear enamel paint or even like a 2K clear would be even better

      Have you done it before?
      Because they'll never be like new again.
      The plastic itself, all the way through, becomes more and more opaque as it's exposed to UV light.😊

    • @UtwoBed
      @UtwoBed 10 місяців тому +1

      Does not work if the discoloration is on the inside of the lens.
