This is sick mate loving the long form. I’m building my own freelance design studio now and watching you is inspiring & super valuable so appreciate you putting all this out here! Your process is very intuitive and flow-based and I share a lot of your values in how to create that one design that nails everything. Good to be here bro lots of love
Man I'm impressed! I'm a creative manager in a large company and I have worked as a freelance logo designer for years on the side. Templates, beautiful logos and design-lingo aside, I think what you really do well is confident communication with the client.. I can feel your nervousness before the call because I have experienced it so many times. One thing I would have loved to see is the moment JUST after you present them with the logo (9:46) this was always the hardest moment for me with clients, sometimes I found myself out of breath because I wanted to overperform and convince them so badly that my design is good. If you ever need a subject, maybe you can give some tips on how to speak confidently and finding your own voice/personality when presenting. Thanks Frankie, really useful videos! - Jonas
Hey man, I really appreciate your words. Haha yeah, as soon as you reveal the logo is always the nerv racking part! But we have to put ourselves in our clients shoes at this point because it's a completely new thing they've set their eyes on so they can't process it fully in a little 15 minute presentation. I'm definitely going to make a seperate video on this, you've given me the idea to do so because I think it's something that's very overlooked and maybe not talked about too much. Really appreciate you being here Jonas!
Guess you gotra detach yourself from the logo/ client's response if they don't like it. But, the logo grew on you and you're kind of invested in it so that's the irony. Also, what happens payment wise if they don't like it? You keep working on another logo for the same amount of money?
I'm so glad I found this channel. Honestly, I love all the creators on here. Still, I was kinda getting tired of seeing the same fonts manipulated to look cute and be presented as "logos" without explanations (I've done it myself so I'm guilty too lol). I love seeing your design process, I'm not even 4 minutes in and I got so much insight. Seeing you actually running the business and not just sitting at a cafe vlogging about things we don't care about and working for probably 30 mins total lol. I'm so locked in, I feel like I'm in school haha I'm self-taught so content like yours is SO valuable! I know you're already big on IG but this channel is about to blow up!!!
I'm so glad you found it too, yeah I feel you. I wanted to share what it's actually like being a freelancer. I think people worry it might be boring content but I know myself that there's so much value in the "boring" parts. And to me it's not boring, it's the nitty gritty, the real stuff. Appreciate you massively!
Frankie! I'd love to see in a future video how you plan and structure your days, since you have the freedom to do so being self employed. I myself am sometimes struggling balancing work (as a graphic designer), doing sports, spending time with friends/family, ... Would be for sure interesting to see how others in the field like you do that! Love the content
Hey Frankie, your videos are as awesome as you are! By the way, could you share where you live? I absolutely loved the outdoor shots from your previous video!
Hey Frankie! Another great video, thanks for your effort. Couldn't not notice that you use osmo pocket. Can you please tell how you get that good, film look?
Great (evergreen) content Frankie, am keen to do something similar in the architectural realm. Just curious do you get permission in advance from clients to share the calls and design work? Thanks!
Appreciate that man! That would be class! I don't show confidential information or anything asked to be kept private, I just share what i show to show my process and for educational purposes. If a client requested the project to be private until release then I wouldn't show it.
Hey Frankie! Loving the videos. I have lately started doing branding and you have been an inspiration to me. I'm really interested to work with you. Please let me know if there are any opportunities. Thank you!
Hey man, I wouldn't if the projects where NDA'd, but these aren't and I don't show too much just snippets into my process. But if a client requested not to be I wouldn't. I share what I share for educational purposes.
I'm sharing as much as I can in these videos for designers to hopefully pull things from. There's no right or wrong way, you've just got to get stuck in at the very start.
