Hank the greatest and Mark the man carrying the mantle from Hank...two Englishmen showing what they can do with an American product..probably the greatest guitar ever built...of course the Burns...Hank showed what the Burns can produce. !

My God! How can she still be so impossibly beautiful??? And that voice! And that song! Their harmonies are so exquisite, and Mark's guitar is, as always, initimable.
My dad (passed in 2003) loved Dire Straits and Emmy Lou Harris. He had her beautiful Christmas album too. This song showed up on my feed when I have been dealing with fear and worry. Thanks, Dad, for the gift. May God bless all of you and quiet your worries.
🙏 this song showed up yesterday when in a sad mood because of stress at work, corona etc. Then why worry popped up in my head and decided to google, Dire Straits! Memories now off my Dad playing this album. Tears rolling down but it has changed my mood and made me spent an eve with music, memories and smiles. Why worry! 💜
Mark is the harmony to Emmylou, and he wrote the song! This is so beautifully performed by the two... Magic, pure and simple... brings tears every time I hear it.
First time seeing this. I LOVE Mark Knopfler's music, and Emmylou Harris is a gift from the musical gods. My lord, this is tremendous. I like gilliebean's comment: "When you can't sleep, and accidentally discover perfection." Amen to that.
Emmylou sang a beautiful ballad called Just Before it Gets Dark at the end of 2001's Taken mini series that has a similar feel to it. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
One of the most beautiful duets on UA-cam!I really get the chills when Knopfler starts with the Strat, it sounds sooo amazing and beautiful!!!!NO ONE can handle a guitar with more respect and feeling than Mr Knopfler!!Mark, you rock!!
Yes Mark is a great guitarist, but can't hold a candle to Steve Lukather.....I adore them both, and they have different musicalities......just delicious.....Of course, no-one touches Emmylou......second best, would be Bonnie Raitt, and third.....Christine Mc Vie.......
Greg Szeman hey dude, mark isn't underrated in any way. He belongs to the peers and all musicians name him as a world class musician - instrumental, singing, songwriting. How can you say he is underrated? Chet Atkins said that MK is one of the best around, so did Eric Clapton. He is in the Rolling Stone ranking - what else do you need?
Joe & Greg: Mark Knopfler may not be underrated among fellow musicians, critics and the discerning public, but he does seem to have a fairly modest demeanour, avoiding self-promotion and not projecting a massive ego on the public consciousness the way some others do or have done. Perhaps that low-key persona is what you were getting at, Greg?
@@joe22589 I disagree, he is very rarely mentioned by guitar heads and other guitarists. I think they are honestly intimidated by him and his very honest and beautiful playing.
