I lived in Escondido in San Diego county for a lot of years. From 2003 to 2015 I lived in a senior apartment complex. My starting rent was 650 a month and when I left my rent was 800 dollars a month. I loved it. I was close to supermarkets, restarounts, movie theaters and parks. Beaches were about 30 minutes away. There were lakes to go fishing. I could go go San Diego or Oceanside to go on fishing boats to fish for yellowtail, calico bass, barracuda, and dorado at times. San Diego county had everything I needed or wanted. Oh, and by the way if you go to the beaches in San Diego during the summer, you’ll be amazed by the women in bathing suits.
What a dream to live in San Diego! You have so many good tips! Definitely makes sense to not move there in August because of the students! Definitely a good idea to really scout out the area before doing so before moving anywhere!
Your videos are super informational and fun to watch. I moved to SD in Sept 2020 and can’t wait to checkout all these spots you talk about when these restrictions get lifted. Cheers Jay, Thank you my man!
As a born and raised in san diego guy let me give u some advise especially if your single....if your wanting to live on your own u better make over 100k or being roommates with 2 or 3 other people Other than that only vacation there and live somewhere else where u get more for your money
Living in San Diego tip if you want to live alone: if you're not making six figures, you're not making it.. Rent skyrocketed during Covid. Average "low" rent right now is around $1600-1800 for a 1-bed in decent/safe area. The "cheaper" area used to be North Park, but no so much anymore. City Heights is going to be cheaper, but a nasty area for what you're paying. Not safe. San Diego does not have a rent cap. Prop mngrs can raise it up to 10% every 6 mo as long they give you "enough notice," which I believe is 90 days. Also, driving has also gotten more aggressive since Covid.
Absolutely grateful for your channel and so much value Jay! I am inbound to San Diego this year and your channel is super valuable! New sub and wishing you lots of Love and light Keep on shining bright! ❤❤❤
Your video was a bit more realistic than most on YT re SD. But the inventory of available rentals is worse than it was even just a few short months ago. Which also means rents have risen too. A 2 bd apt in Little Italy is now going to cost you at least $3-4k! It's not much better in any other areas. I was shocked how few rentals are available right now, even in East County (still cheaper, but not by much). Also, you haven't mentioned that most places anywhere do not accept pets.
Have around roughly 10k + saved for rent, app fees, furnishings, grocery, moving team as well. it can definitely get pricy depending on whether or not you’re going to apply for a college right off the bat definitely communicate with your college in regards to loans and on/off campus living. grants and scholarships will also be your bestfriend
Yes parking haha its a terrible situation plan on walking a lot lol and all thats going on is building and more ppl idk where they're all gonna park lol
The best thing do to do. Is go to a red state and buy at least four homes. Rent them out for minimum of $2500 per month. After paying for your monthly mortgage payments which should include home insurances that should leave you between 4 to 5 thousand dollars per month to financially "help" support you in this overly taxed blue state. Especially in the the city of San Diego with very high property taxes. Don't forget about very high HOA fees. Might consider becoming a real estate investor. I've spotted some very good home deals in Texas.
Hey jay that s easy I already ask my UA-cam friend Erika to be my room mate because her last name reminds Costco if you been watching my videos you know I m talking about.
The Gospel of salvation of our souls: 💜💕❤️❤️❤️💕💖❤️💖❤️📖✝️🕎💡💡❤️❤️💞💜💕For what I received I passed on to you as of [first importance]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time,
🙏💕😭“Heavenly Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen

I usually refer to North Park as No Park. As in no place to park.
Tip #1. Have tons of money available. You'll need easily close to $5k just to move in.

So 10 years ago it was affordable not anymore
😀👍
Thanks again RJ!
Any rational apartment hunting is always concentrated in the ghetto. Because in San Diego that's the only place most of us will ever afford.
Rent a uhaul.
I have seen someone living in a U-Haul when I lived in San Diego years ago....
