Stan Lee emphasized that the first and most sacred rule of writing any Marvel hero or villain is to make us care about the characters or the rest of the story suffers. And right with the first episode I am absolutely invested in Maya Lopez. This woman has been through as much trauma and loss as any other major MCU character. I really liked Maya in Hawkeye, but I LOVE her in Echo! Also as much as I absolutely LOVE Daredevil, I’m glad that he only showed up in this episode, this is Maya’s show after all. And it shows that Maya is as skilled of a fighter as Daredevil.
My issue with Marvel/Disney is that in a lot of their films and series now, the antagonists whether it's a person, thing, or situation are written poorly and thrown to the wayside. The antagonists should always help drive the story and push the protagonists to be great. They drop the ball a lot when it comes to antagonists. I'm glad they're slowly but surely getting better with the antagonists and I love how they write Fisk. He was always one of my favorite characters of all of Marvel. I wish they gave Zane (Andrew Howard) more to do because the dude is such an underrated actor. Check him out in the 2010 remake of the cult classic slasher film "I Spit On Your Grave".
