    That's an antique treasure, Collin you did a beautiful job on the design, build and distressed finish. Just the fact that it was made with modern day lumber, and tools, and yet you give it the appearance of being a fine piece of antique furniture. Great job all around.

    Have you ever looked into a mirror lately? When I look into a mirror I see an old man who's eyes are going bad shoulders, elbows. hips, knees and ankles are all distressed and I think it looks like hell. I have not found anyone but my wife who thinks the distressing makes me look good. I at least have 95% of my original hair color. Nobody is at all impressed even though I am still able to walk. Wood working is getting harder and harder and about to sell my junk tools. Why do people think old tools are so great but an old person needs to know their place.I like the icebox but it won't sell for as much as the one I saw a few weeks ago. Someone paid $900 for it but would not bid on me. I guess I need to have millions of dollars before anyone will be impressed.

    I was hoping this would have insulation and stainless steel walls and shelves on a bigger scale as a refrigerator. I would love to see you do a variation of a full size with the "ice box" to keep it cool. You do wonderful work. Thanks.

    Did you have to slow down the router speed for the tongue and groove bit. I have a single speed 1 3/4 hp router, I'm wondering if it would handle it.

    Hey Colin, I like your project so much that I made one from some old rough cut cherry. I like the way it came out. It looks old.

    Hey Colin!
    Great video, you've got a new subscriber out of me!
    Just one suggestion for your hardware: Those new looking brass hinges/latch would fit right in if you warm them up and go over them with a brass darkener.
    Looking forward to taking time to watch the rest of your videos now :)

    Very good Colin, on the hardware stuff, well you could paint it with some rustoleum texturized rocky paint at first and then black and very lightly with a foam use some gold or silver , it looks awesome. try it.

    Hi Colin, I always enjoy your videos, findes them very educating. Could you please give me the numbers (drawings) in metrics in stead of inches? I would like to try that one my self.
    Best regards, Júlíus.

    Nice project. I like it very much.
    I noticed that you did not find time yet to make the dust collector for the miter saw.
    Neither did I. At least we have one thing in common. And maybe more.....
    Where does your family name come from? Do you have Dutch or Belgian roots?

    • @knecht105
      @knecht105  8 років тому

      Working on some dust collection items in the future ... that is still on my list ... not sure about my roots, maybe I should get one of those DNA test :)

    Why dye,then shellac. I would of put urethane. What goes with what for me is confusing. Cabinet looks great but why?

    • @knecht105
      @knecht105  8 років тому

      Hi Wayne, I used to use a lot of urethane but have moved away from the 'film' finishes, preferring the hardening oils much more now, but it really depends on what the use is ... urethanes are best for some uses.

    Great piece of furniture, Collin. Search UA-cam and you'll find many ways to distress your shiny brass hardware and make it look like it's old.

      I Googled antique ice boxes and none of them seem to have the hinges on the inside edge. Something about the thickness of the door, perhaps.

    You should change the title of your video, How To Make A Cabinet That Only Looks Like An Old Ice Box. I'm looking for a video on how to make one that's functional. Finding your video was a waste of time.
