One of the absolute best things about starscream is that he will not hesitate at the slightest distance gleam of an opportunity to over throw megatron and megatron keeps letting his dumb ass come crawling back. Oh megatron is down with a cold?? He’s ruined, he’s dead to everyone, Now his chance to lead the decepticons. Oh he has to run a few errands at Walmart ? That bastard betrayed us, we need new leader ship immediately.
And yet he always manages to prove a reason as to remain in his troops. Starscream might be narcissistic, a traitor, perhaps a coward and especially a bad schemer. But he sure as hell is one of the most devoted followers to the Decepticon cause, or at least his G1 version.

Starscream actually points out some major things we skipped in the show, he shows megatrons stupidity and stubbornness, and for those wondering if starscream always acted like this, no- he’s had respect for megatron but lost it as megatron is stupid and blinded by power, he relies on others to make plans for him and branches off of those plans, and claims them as his own, starscream is clever and flees when he believes in necessary, he can also see right though megatron, so far that he’s the only one who stands up to him and tells megatron of his laziness

That is very true, and whenever does Starscream does point out the facts, he gets the back hand for it.
I like how Starscream always fears Megatron will kill him but at the same time he wont stop shit talking him
I like to believe they're in a love-hate relationship. Starscream can see and point out things Megatron can't, such as the flaws of the plans, Megatron's petty vendetta towards the Autobots when his main goal is to gather energy to rebuild Cybertron, relying on others to come up with plans then later claim it as his own.
Starscream knew Megatron don't have the hearts to kill him, which is why he pushed his luck so hard. He's basically that 1 guy in the group that spout the most dumb and obvious things, rarely contribute, but then once the group fails, they realise the guy was basically foreshadowing all of it, whether he meant it or not.
@@theotv5522 Yeah. It's like Starscream knew Megatron wouldn't kill him. He's so disrespectful towards Megatron. He talks to him like he was his brother or his equal. Many times, he calls him "leader" in a sarcastic tone. It's hilarious, lol.
The less he deserves are the punches Megatron gives him. And sometimes Megatron even stays quiet at his "insults."
I just love this Starscream, and their relationship in G1 is very entertaining. I think if Starscream was less mean and traitorous, they would get along better, like in one episode, Starscream made a good strategy, and Megatron agreed. He even grabbed his arm (the episode was "divide and conquer," I think)
Well, out of all S trio, he’s the only one who isn’t Yes Man
I think that's the fun to G1 Starscream, he ultimately fears Megatron, but he's too tempermental and arrogant to let his frustrations with him slide, so constantly tests what he can get away with. In rare cases like Enter the Nightbird we see Megatron anger him enough that we get Starscream beating down Megatron from once. XD
Of course G1 Megatron being relatively more personable probably helps. Versions of Megatron more keen to evaporate an impudent minion tend to have a far more submissive Starscream. (Likely why Starscream only appeared a handful of times with Galvatron, and mostly as a ghost who couldn't be killed anyway).
@@moonlightlily-p7u I think that's the interesting dimension people often forget with G1 Megatron. He wasn't just a pushover, he seemed personable around his minions compared to the more traditional tyrant seen in later versions (and Galvatron). He was always talking to Starscream and discussing his plans with him specifically, I think he appreciated the loyalty of Soundwave and Shockwave but their stoic demeanors made them less engaging as company. Starscream challenged him and made him explain his tactics, which he likely found more interesting despite the extra sass he got from it.
A scene in A Prime Problem sticks out to me, where Optimus and Megatron have a mirror moment of warning Cliffjumper and Starscream not to waltz into the undisclosed area. Megatron of course does it more curtly, but it shows they have a similar fatherly approach to some degree.

Starscream is actually surprisingly competent, he’s a coward and a snake, but he isn’t completely stupid. Starscream is always Megatron’s right hand and it doesn’t make sense in all iterations, but in this one in particular he regularly demonstrates an understanding of his own limitations, he may not be able to kill Megatron, but he sees where Megatron’s shortcomings are, lack of disgression, stubborness, personal vendetta, etc
That is always the reason he is presented as being kept alive
However
Megatron does die, and Starscream takes over, but his reign lasts literal minutes before Megatron returns and does actually kill Starscream
@@damiencopenhaver2888 Though technically Galvatron is a separate character from Megatron, created by Unicron from the remains of Megatron, just like how Scourge and Cyclonus were created from the remains of Thundercracker and Skywarp.
So Megatron never killed Starscream, and would never kill him.
Galvatron did. He does not have the same history with Starscream as Megatron did. And he was actually insane. Thus why he was able to kill Starscream so easily, while Megatron couldn't make himself do it.

G1 Starscream is by far my favorite incarnation of the character, because unlike many later versions of him, he's not afraid to shit talk Megatron to his face.
