Such a pretty floof! I'm always leary of showing people about the spurs that can grow. They're little feetsies have some pretty weird looking foot pads and I'm so afraid some well meaning idiot is going to snip off something they shouldn't
i used to I file my guineas nails with a small nail file while giving them some treat and there were no risk for finger cut no pain and no stress for guineas
I have a guinea pig that bites anytime I cut her nails. It's so hard as she has blk nails. I use a torch so I can see how far to trim. Any tips on how to stop her from biting me. TIA ❤️
Wow, I can't believe how longs it's nails are. I can trim nails on my adult pigs, but my baby pig I'm too afraid too just yet, and his nails are getting sharp too. He is way too hyper and still skiddish. I adopted it from a woman who had a pregnant pig and want to only keep the sows, so I adopted the boar, so my one pig wouldn't be alone after the loss of his brother. I guess I gotta take the baby to the vet for that.Once he calms down more than it wont be a problem.
If the nail length being so long is rectified, there is a slight improvement, however once piggies digits have started to splay out, they will remain that way. It is usually age related.
Hi I have 2 girl piggies. One nails don’t grow fast and the others grow very fast. One of them is curled into her paw and I think it’s hurting her. But every time I try to trim them she jerks her paw away and scirms. I cut below the blood vessels and she’s just very difficult about her nails. Any advice?

I just got that same exact guniea pig yesterday, what kind is it. I got him because he has long fur and he was different than the others . Petco couldn't tell me anything about him but he's identical to yours and we named him smore.

When Senior Piggies have wetter bottoms, and no sign of Stones, can I apply an oil or something to keep it from becoming clogged in that area??
Do piggies quicks grow out like dogs do? And when trimmed their quick will start to retreat as well?
