Hey retro future. Have a look on eBay, there’s an interesting item for sale (bidding) called the “game child” it’s boxed. It’s a gameboy clone but it’s a pretty interesting piece. Not sure what year it was made but it’s fairly old.
that intro clip tho... at least you did not have to take a good ten-fifteen minutes to swap out your data to the new console. Back in the day when your saves were always on the cartridge and all games were physical and simple to plug n play those were the golden days my friend.
Now that I think about it, I think I have a remanufactured Game Boy. My Father bought me one from an estate sale as a gift, and it too came in a plastic baggie with tape. It’s been sitting on a suede pad I made for it, and while it does have a few scratches here and there it is quite mint. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

I could be wrong, but I doubt that the Nintendo Power Swap Program was a membership service that people paid to belong to. I think it was just a way of expediting warranty service so you didn't have to wait for things to be repaired.
You’re handling that Gameboy like I did the Donkey Kong Jr Game and Watch handheld I found at a local thrift store for $1 in near mint condition...minus I couldn’t hold my composure as well
I thought the Play it Loud Gameboys were only manufactured from 1995 onwards? Could be wrong. Brilliant video either way, I remember refurbishing old psps and finding those exact weird insect carcases in there. I was not as impressed as you were 😂 I think they're little housefly larvae
3:00 There's no way these fingerprints can be 30 years old. It's difficult to find a EU 1990 DMG., not to mention the fact they were only grey back then. Play It Loud! launched in 1995, with this console (judging by its motherboard) being manufactured around June 1995. That makes it already 25yo or younger. But realistically... it's just a fingerprint of the man who sold it to you.
yeah my "1989 looking" grey DMG is a late(ish) UK one, 1994 on the purchase card but the box itself says 1993 on it so would've been made in 1993. could you help me with my other DMG...? unboxed, but it's *translucent blue* - does have the serial number label on the back. do you reckon it's an official colour, or just a very well-done reshell...?
@@RWL2012 As far as my knowledge goes, there has only been one translucent version of the DMG: "Skeleton" - transparent, without any tint (easily recognized by pink letters on the front shell). Thus, I consider your console to have had its shell replaced. With that said, there's nothing wrong about it, especially considering how greatly the quality of aftermarket shells has improved recently. PS It's commonly known that up until 1995 DMGs came in every color as long as it was grey. Hence, it might be a good idea to verify your translucent blue console by checking the motherboard dates. A pre-1995 date will prove a reshell. PS2 I came across more than 10 "1989 looking" grey DMGs here in Poland. The earliest motherboard date I found was March 1991. One thing worth noting about these - european serial numbers (G with 8 digits) only went up with time. If you can find a console with a number starting with "G00", it will likely be an early example.
If you check Wikipedia, and go to the Discontinuation portion of the History section it tell you how much the Power Swap costs. It was $25 for the NES and Game Boy, and $35 for the SNES. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_Entertainment_System
On one hand its funny to see a guy excited over a bug and some marks on a motherboard, on the other it's quite nice to know some people are genuinely passionate about what they do.

That really is a special gameboy! Not only Nintendo refurbished but mint condition too
Great video man! I am surprised myself on how exciting this was. Cool piece of gaming history you have there. Congrats.
I have an old 3Ds XL that won’t turn on anymore. A friend of mine tried combining a car charger and a broken charger. Pluggin my 3Ds into this makeshift charger 1. Made the house power go out and 2. Killed the 3Ds. Assuming it could be a fried battery or motherboard but I’m not sure. It’s an old special edition 3Ds xl. If you’d like to maybe make a video on it, dm me on a Twitter @nobledez ; I’m lovin this type of content!
Ive never seen someone so excited about an insect carcus. Also, there is a typo in the title, btw (it should be "a" not "A" as it is not the start of the sentence).
Oscar Plays It’s the title
I remember doing that so many years ago. I think there was a one time fee per swap.
He does have a point tho, that dead insect is in mint condition, straight from a 1990s Nintendo repair shop!
WOW apparently I have one of these! Thanks for this video, I would´ve never known otherwise! ♥️ It´s nowhere near mint condition but it´s in very good shape for the fact that it has clearly been played with a lot over the years. It’s the transparent one. :) My boyfriend gave it to me on christmas of 2018, funny that it randomly ended up in germany. :D I thought I would peel off these big stickers at some point but now they obviously have to stay. ☺️ (also your happiness about the dead critter was hilarious haha)
I replaced my bottom screen for my 3ds xl, it was very scary.
Can confirm, Nintendo still has the same phone number. Tried it last year when I was hanging out with friends and we found a gameboy color.
Never thought id see a man be so happy to find an insect carcass in a gameboy.
Best UA-cam person is this guy
Watching this, I recognized the sticker with the phone number, and I realized that my gameboy camera has the same sticker! Not new shell tho, just bought it off eBay. So apparently I have a refurbished by Nintendo gameboy camera! How cool is that?!?!
Sorry, but that sticker is/was on most nintendo stuff. To my knowledge, every gameboy has that on its battery cover. Pretty rare to get something with that sticker in good condition tho. Also, nice find dude!
I have a Gameboy color with that sticker that I bought for €1.00 because I got really lucky to find it in a flea market that didn't know what this is. The screen was not working properly but I fixed it by removing rust with some alcohol. And there also was completely perfect cartridge with Pokémon Red in it!
aw man I'm a bit late but this was a great vid it felt just like your old videos and I'd totally love to see another classic dmg maybe a mod or someone I'm thinking of giving one bluetooth
I don't think I've ever seen someone so happy to open their console and find a dead bug.
What % of IPA should I use to clean my gba sp? And what parts should I clean?
Nobody:
Absolutely nobody:
Elliot: BLOODY!!
Imagine this thing with modern consoles
It’ll be a mess for save states, for example, for the Switch
She forgot to take her kid's cartridge out of the gameboy in the ad, lol. (What if he had just completed his/her Japanese pokemon red?)
Oh yeah
I like how the Gameboy looks orange on one camera and yellow on the other.
Why are the colors from the different camera angles switching from yellow to orange?
Where do you get all the game boy advance that you use in your videos?
Where are you acquiring these remanufactured units? This is hecka cool
I've never seen someone so happy to find an insect carcass.
"We got an insect carcass! We got some weird residue!" LMAO
In the ad she leaves a cartridge in the gameboy
I've never seen a man so excited over an insect carcass. I hope this doesn't awaken anything in me.
I need Elliot’s positive energy in life
See’s a dead insect. Happiness noises
Man, I wouldn't be lying if I said I were a little jealous of your handheld collection... ✊❤
