I think he just paid a bunch of money to allow you to have those. Take away the fun from Candy Crush (the lives and working for the power ups) but it probably backfired and made you play more.

@@GettinAwayPodcast He put cheats on the game and I used them whenever a level was too hard to be beaten legit, that's it. It was a very long time ago and my memories are getting foggy, but I remember him clearly saying that those were cheats and there was no money going into the game.

I'm sure nobody is gonna see this, but I think it's really valuable to know the difference between you playing the game, and _the game_ playing _you._ Giving up makes people feel weak and unaccomplished, but to truly win these sorts of games, you have to be strong enough to put the game down. Games like this always hold some satisfaction just out of your reach, but never give it to you. You go braindead, spending countless hours of your life on something so banal and trite, trying to find a point at which you feel accomplished with your work. But you never feel like you've done enough, because you never really did anything. So you just keep coming back for more and more. I used to fall for tactics like this, but I've changed and become stronger, I think. So don't go back to Candy Crush-- not for any reason. You'll always think it's because its _on your own terms_ and that you _want to,_ but you'll never truly gain anything by playing it.

2- turn both the music AND the sound off. listen to something else.
3- play only when you can afford to.
4- do it shamelessly. i assure you, your friends dont give a fuck that you play. but doing it like a dirty lil secret might make u indulge waaaay more than you should.
i play it after lunch while i have my glass of water or soda and my cigarrette, while listening to podcasts and youtube videos. i have fun, and then go on with the day.

The first time I came across a game packed with microtransactions and manipulative tactics to get me to spend, I fell for it hook, line and sinker. With 20-20 hindsight, the game's tactics are so obviously manipulative that a 5 year old should have been able to avoid falling into the trap. At the time though, I was in a very toxic work environment where certain members of supervision had decided to make my life a living hell. Being a "whale" in game bought me the friendship and respect I wasn't getting in real life. I stuck it out til retirement (at that time, you either made it long enough for pension or left with nothing), then retired and got a job with a much better work environment. Once I was getting friendship and respect in real life, the game had much less hold on me.

@@dagamernerd9843 you have no idea bro. Mobile gaming is a market to manipulate people into spending way too much money on a chance to get something. Even games without loot boxes are simply trying to manipulate you with smaller dopamine rushes every time into buying shit. Thats the whole point of this video

I think the one I remember the best was one where a grandma crushed candy on her table with a hammer, and it was memorable and interesting. Also, a little more generic, but a few years later as a promotion for a new version (I think it had something to do with soda) they had a lady walking through a big city with huge purple bubbles and gummy bears. Keelvin, I want to tell you something: I am on Level 12118 at this point in time. At no point, do I think Candy Crush is good at anything except its brilliant and manipulative marketing tactics.
If you want to see what other players like me think about the game (the ones who are nearly at the gates or the ones who have finished the levels until new ones come out), there are feedback threads that King posts and you should definitely have a look at the comments. On all the feedback threads are people posting legitimate complaints and never once, have I seen something positive that a player has posted after 7000 levels of playing or so.
That's because King doesn't care - they want people to spend money so some levels have completely lost any originality and innovation and design and have become mindlessly difficult. If it's a good level, King shortens the move. They don't want you to enjoy the game - they want you to pay to win.

I used to play this a while back and I noticed they started marking levels as “hard” and “extra hard”. Of course those ones were weirdly easy to win but every so often a “normal” level would end up being absurdly rigged to the point where you can’t win without buying more powerups. Can’t help but wonder if that was set up to make you waste your upgrades on “hard levels” when you don’t need them so you need to buy more.

This is legit why I stopped playing candy crush tbh. I just wanted a game that was satisfying and challenging at times. It’s marketed as a puzzle game so why not?
Until you realise the thing is rigged. The algorithm they use to dictate what colours drop and when, it’s all pre-calculated. I know this because I remember playing the same level over and over again and every single time I would notice that the colour drops would vary WILDLY in each attempt. They’ve literally made the game unwinnable and genuinely impossible to play unless you either 1. Start pumping money into it or 2. Give up, go away for a few months and then come back to reap the welcome back rewards.
Remember this isn’t just a candy crush problem. So many “puzzle” games on the App Store do this exact same thing. Best Fiends is a major one that I still play even though I KNOW that the game is rigged. I would enjoy these games much more if they made it fair. Pre-code each level to be winnable but only if you’re strategic in how you play. Make the games difficult enough that if you loose it’s because YOU messed up and not because the cards you were dealt were rigged from the start. This is gambling since every single time you start a new level it’s never ever promised to you that the level is even winnable, even when you play it smart and slow.
It’s gambling, and you know what they say about gambling? The house always wins.

    • @r.a.6459
      @r.a.6459 2 роки тому

What do you expect?? Do you think King will just leave the candy drops to random chance, when they spent billions researching AI, machine learning and data mining technologies?? It's not chance that drops candies into the board, it's artificial intelligence. Literally, the game's AI is playing you, not you playing the game. The reason why many Candy Crush clones failed while Candy Crush itself succeeds is that the clones rely on random chance for generating tiles to drop, while Candy Crush, as I said, rely on strategic planning of the AI. Candy Crush is rigged from the beginning because of the use of AI.
These games are definitely gambling if not worse. You spent money on power ups and pray to Candy Gods for not f&‽king you in that game so that you win. Is that the definition of gambling? That's the reason why the Sultanate of Brunei forbid these games because the Sultan sees such games as gambling.

So I used to play this game back in the day, like, probably not long after it was released and the levels were still in the early hundreds, so probably around 2012-13. I first found it via accidentally clicking a Facebook ad and then quickly left again.
2011-12 were the years where Facebook games generally started dying off. While many of the Facebook games were cash cows, alot of the ones I loved the most, Army Attack, Empires and Allies (the old one), Backyard Monsters, Wild Ones, Cityville plus many more, either shut down or went onto life support (Backyard Monsters stopped getting updated but remained online until Flash's demise like Farmville). Many of these games could make fantastic mobile games, especially if the worst monetization/social stuff like lives and having to request stuff from friends, was taken away. Army Attack and E&A especially are ones I'm still itching to play again.
Anyway, I got into Candy Crush, I did enjoy it and was fairly active, but my dad soon after also got into it and he's still in his "candy crush crisis" to this day and I'm quite confident that he's somewhere near level 10000. I would then play it on and off for probably the next 5 or so years. I got into the game back when there were *no* free boosters or anything, the only time you got free boosters was the 3 you got when you unlocked them initially. But one part of the game I really got into was it's community. Well, I didn't get into it, I was more of an observer. I found the Candy Crush Wiki and it had only started making pages for each level, I don't think there were even images of the levels when I found it. Soon after though, it rapidly expanded. I probably found the stuff on the wiki itself as well as the community there to be more interesting than the game itself.
Soon after, the Wiki made it's own level difficulty rating system, which might actually be what inspired King to put the "hard level" markers on the game map. It's system went from "Very Easy" to "Insanely Hard", though it's undergone a few changes since then including adding a few more ratings like "Nearly Impossible" and "Variable". Anyway, I was still pretty much a kid back then and I don't know why but the community fascinated me and I eventually learned who the admins, rollbacks etc. of the site were. Again, I never made an account or any edits to the site, and yet I still knew the most hated levels for many members of the community. There'd be a monthly poll where people, with or without accounts, would vote on what the hardest level in the game was. Early on, level 65 was thought to be the hardest with people spending literal months trying to beat that level. Then came the notorious trio of levels 147, 181 and 350, which basically made the top 3 for several years before they got "nerfed". In case you're wondering, my dad's least favourite level was 311 and I bet he'd still recognise it if I showed him a picture of it today.
I got to see the growth of the wiki, I got to see the first new beaurecrats being made, I saw basically a whole anime arc of one of the most infamous trolls/vandals of the site who had multiple accounts permanently blocked by Wikia (before they renamed to Fandom), then the community gave him a chance before he got himself a ban again. I got to see the drama on the wiki, I got to see people arguing about what difficulty a level should recieve. Eventually though, I stopped following the wiki and since then, the wiki isn't anywhere as active as it once was. It was one of the biggest wikis for a game out there.
About my interest in the game itself though? It started dwindling for various reasons, but the biggest thing that pushed me away was all the pop-ups. Initially, it was just the wheel that eventually gave a free booster every day. But now I have to go through like 5 pop-ups just to get the main screen. Not only that, but they've completely redone all of the early levels, I used to know how when certain elements of the game board were introduced, like how the first "candy order" level was 126. now it's seemingly random. My favourite level type, the timed one, was completely removed from the game. I also had some favourite levels like 236, which had a full board of "random" candies with ?s on them (I just found out that the random candies were completely removed) and level 252, which was probably the most universally loved level in the game. It was a timed level and due to the mechanics of the game as well as level 252 only having 4 candy colours on a full board, meant that games could go on theoretically forever, many older players, myself included, have scores in the tens of millions in that level.
What finally made me delete the game from all devices though, was the allegations of some really bad stuff happening behind the scenes at Activision-Blizzard in mid-2021 and King, who made Candy Crush, is owned by Activision-Blizzard. And if I recall correctly Candy Crush is the single biggest money maker for the company, maybe even more so than Call of Duty and everyone knows about that franchise which goes to show just how powerful Candy Crush is
I do think though, that match-3 games like Candy Crush aren't inherently bad and can be fun if done right. One thing I'd like to see tried is some kind of level maker in one of these games, imagine if the community could make and play their own levels in Candy Crush or some similar game. Many fan level concepts already exist, including on the wiki. Maybe whoever does this could finally be the one to knock Candy Crush off the throne for good.
Sorry for the news article-length comment, thanks for reading.

it’s def doing a lot more than we can see like algorithm wise. i think it measures how much time you’ve been away/ so it can calculate whether to make you win a level. i am so sure that it cheats so that you can stay longer. i don’t think there’s any kind of rhyme or reason to it, otherwise you’d think you would be able to memorise it. the fact that it’s basically by chance that each level is won i’m certain they control that outcome. i’ve had levels where i was so close to winning but every move didn’t give me a match so instead i’m losing moves instead lives. i hated it so much i had to make myself stop 😭

It's not too hard for me but it's unfair. Level 165 is one of the concrete proof. 99 blue candies in 60 moves. Sounds doable ONLY if the candy drops are random. But it's not. The candy drops are _controlled by AI_ and that alone made the level impossible to beat. The AI can not only deprive you of the needed blue candies, it also deprive you of potential matches to remove the bombs in the level. There are other levels where such AI is involved in screwing up your plays - intricately calculate what candies to drop after every player's move.
This game is rigged and unfair and that's why I stopped playing this game ever since. The final nail of the coffin was them trademarking candy and saga.

It didn’t take too long to even delete it, if you want to play an actually good game play battle cats instead.

I don't like Candy Crush or any King studio game in general, because they follow even similar concepts and others mobile companies imitate it just to get more downloads. I don't like Candy Crush, because it has a crap ton of levels that never wants to end.

    I'm just over 1000 levels .
If I don't go on it every day (I dont)I get notifications galore trying to entice me back.
I have got this far without spending a penny buying power ups, lives or anything to help me,everything I've used I've earned it,I know I'm going come stuck soon I'm actually surprised I got this far without buying anything.

I'm working on a certification for work, and after putting a day off of study because of Candy Crush i uninstalled it. I was disgusted with myself.

couple months ago i kept getting streaks i’m talking in the hundreds up to like 200 levels i was passing level after level till it all cam crashing down wich then led me to spending little money here and there and not to mention i bought this even pack and apparently the game broke down or glitched and never ended up getting anything so yeah it will make addictive to the point your paying money
