    I've made tons of Stickley furniture and yours is a great piece. The only thing I would have added would be to plane a diamond on the upright ends. But to each his own. Congrats.

      Thanks Walter. I have a small chamfer on the top and bottom of the up rights. It was sort of a whim but it looked good to me so I stopped. If it were a chair or stool I would have gone with the more aggressive chamfer for comfort.

    Tom… that came out exquisite!
    Final glueup always gives me the jitters. I practice once (and sometimes twice) on every glueup… I lay the parts out so they are in the proper orientation, practice clamping, gather the gluing stuff, square & tape… then take a break to visualize how easy it is gonna be. But, invariably there’s a dropped part… a glue drip in the worst place or, a part that gets stubborn when it swells from the glue!
    Congrats for surviving the build with an heirloom you can be proud of!
    PS… did you beat the clock?

    • @woodshopnerdery
      @woodshopnerdery  Рік тому +4

      Thanks Dave! Yes I beat the clock, sort of it went off when I was tapping the top side home. So the first pieces to get glue had been assembled for several minutes.

    A very good series of videos. I think I probably learned more from how you corrected mistakes as I did from your successes. Have a couple of ideas that were inspired from this series I may share later on. What are you planning for the future? Inquiring minds want to know.👍

    • @woodshopnerdery
      @woodshopnerdery  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Ron. I watch a lot of the furniture repair and refinishing channels and have learned a lot about how to deal with my mistakes from them. I have some tool reviews to do first but my next furniture project with be a reproduction of a Hans Wenger folding chair. I drew up the plans in Inkscape a long time ago just like I did for this book shelf. I am looking forward to learning how to tie the Danish cord seat.

    It came out just great. Well done and thanks for sharing! A couple of comments: 1) you didn't tell use how long that timed section took; 2) are you heating your garage of do live somewhere it's warm in November?; 3) I don't remember that planer in the background from your Shop Tour video - it looks like it's in front of the garage door; 4) I would have found it interesting to see you sealing/staining the whole piece not just one side; 5) do you sign and/or date somewhere. Thanks again.

    • @woodshopnerdery
      @woodshopnerdery  Рік тому

      Thanks Berry, I appreciate the compliment! It an attached garage with a good insulated door. I run a small space heater to take the chill off. Yes, that’s a shopsmith thickness planner. It was the topic of my first video and appears frequently. Not enough people enjoy the finishing process to include it, unfortunately. I’m ordering a small engraved brass plate to glue to the bottom with the important details. Next few videos will be tool reviews then I will begin a Hans Wenger folding rope chair build.

    That came out beautiful! Maybe I missed it but do you put your name (or logo) and date on the piece somewhere? I forgot when I made some of my furniture. Well, for you I guess you can go back to the video and find out when you made it. Your family, though, will appreciate your name and date on there for when you pass it down.

    • @woodshopnerdery
      @woodshopnerdery  Рік тому +2

      Thanks James, yes I will be ordering an engraved brass plate from Amazon and attaching to the bottom.
