The mom, of course, is the hero of the story. I would have never survived having to wake up every 2hrs at night to turn a disabled person to avoid having bed sores. She's done more than any Mom could have ever done.

Exactly. If the dad had walked out on the mother, what would've become of the rest of the family? Or if his mother hadn't decided to be grandmother _and_ mother to her two other grandbabies? The other children must've had a difficult time without their mother being there for them. My hat's off to all family members.

If I ever could meet Brookes mama, I would say, .....what great love you had for Brooke, taking physical emotional and supporting her in all her decisions, to the age of 45.....that is an award winning plaque that doesn't exist ....but it's genuine profound love for a daughter who was determined to do something with herself.....but only ...if her mama......would be her full time caregiver....losing sleep, losing social time with the rest of her siblings and ...husband,losing everything for Brookes sake .....in college at the community college in Selden long island there is a beautiful high picture frame of Brooke the year was 2014. I know Brooke studied for her doctorate degree and was employed at Stony Brook...but she is also in many other colleges ....I 🤔 wonder, did her siblings ever spend time with her in public alone, or were they secretly ashamed of someone so beautiful ...I do believe the Bibles promised....that she will awaken in the earthly resurrection....

I cried so much through this movie. People truly don't understand the roadblocks for the disabled in this world. She had an incredible family and community supporting her and look at what she accomplished, but most disabled people don't have that, and we need to do so much better for them.

Oh, my goodness! you just posted *a lot* of truth in the comment you posted! I wish that I'd received this kind of support after my left S.I. joint fusion. I had 2 children who were ages 3 and 14 months. You'd think my church would've stepped in to help, but they didn't. That's a big chunk of why I left that church. There's so much more I could write about family and community support, but I won't. It'll just seem as though I'm a wining.

I literally went icy cold during the first part of the video when her parents were first allowed to see her . I cannot even begin to comprehend what I would have done seeing my child broken like that . I think I would have sunk to my knees in prayer , because I have deep faith in God that he wasn't to blame . That faith is what gives me the spiritual strength to cope in tough times ...and I've had many . Brooke was so supported on her journey back and i'm certain she has inspired many others in similar situations . There is always a glimmer of hope and that glimmer of light is Jesus Christ our Saviour. This is a wonderfully produced video . Thank you for showing it to the world because it needs to be seen . May God strengthen all who are in such situations worldwide . In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen 🤍

I am very grateful to Chance for choosing to watch this movie tonight.
firstly it shows us how precious life is and that we must never say to ourselves that I still have time afterwards to do something or do good to the people who love us and whom we love.
I had a stroke a year ago, and since then I think that, as Brooks said in this film [the Miracle exists] but you also have to want it, force it, it is not free, and above all recognize that it is not given to everyone.
My dogs, and several persons for their kindness and cares which was given to me as second chance and allow me to return to have a life very close to normal again.
    I thank the UNIVERSE,

Am so sorry to hear and may God renew his mind that the heart would love again, even though it must be tough what he went through and may be still facing in thoughts...the mind can either make a person or be a rollercoaster of a ride, though there is always hope and Jesus surely is hope for the mind and heart...not an easy ride yet much smoother of a ride with than without God.

Although I’m not paralyzed, I got a similar speech from my mom Rita. She told me, “There’s always someone worse off than you”. I live in Cuyahoga County and one day my daughter and I went to The West Side Market with friends. A man came up to me and said, “I’ll pray for him”. My friend S.A. told him I’m a woman. [My last sentence isn’t meant to be snobby or rude.] I was thinking, I appreciate the prayer, but I think someone who’s homeless, jobless, or has undiagnosed and or untreated Mental Illness needs the prayers, too.

Never try to immediately pay off your hospital and other medical bills. You need that money a whole lot more than they do. Go on the $10 a month plan-- your plan, ratified by you and none else.
Challenge every bill. If you were not told in advance about any procedure and the price, tell them to back off.
All of a sudden things are very different for you. Don't be railroaded into hasty action.
If they threaten to sue you, tell them you'll file bankruptcy and they'll get nothing.

My brother dove into the Magothy River in Maryland back in 1964 and broke his spinal cord. I have never understood why he died 8 days later. I was only 16 and I idolized him. He taught me so much and took me to my first dance. I was 13 and he was 20 but he danced every dance with me and made me feel special. Of course I thought of him while watching this movie and, of course, I cried.
Brooke was a very special person and she came from a very special family. No words are good enough to describe her mother, and what she did for her daughter. Brooke’s father was also one of a kind. Both parents were tremendously supportive of her. He worked to support the family and lost the companionship of his wife for those many years while Brooke was going to college. I honestly don’t understand how they kept their marriage and family together!
