Scale arpeggios - You never played scales like this!

- In this guitar lesson you learn how to construct arpeggios from scales. In this way you can play a scale in a scale arpeggio by stacking 6 third intervals on top of each other, to create 13 chords. Like the Cmaj13 or Cmaj13#11 chord. The sound of a scale is very much defined by such a scale arpeggio that contains 7 different notes.
In this crystal clear guitar tutorial you’ll learn how to play these arpeggios from scales and put them into practice and applications. You learn over what chords and chord progression you can play these scale arpeggios. We look at the modes of that major scale, harmonic minor scale melodic minor scale and whole tone scale. We will also make an altered scale application with a scale arpeggio of the melodic minor scale.

I just can't understand why he doesn't have way more subs.
Thank you sir for your time and effort
Personally, I had to come back to this stuff since it was a little overwhelming at the time, but after hammering some concepts in, this stuff makes sense to me now that I've got some terminology and mechanics secured. This is advanced-leaning material.
he just picked up another sub 🙂
let him cook
best guitar lessons on UA-cam. Thanks Rob
Another banger!
I will sit for hours taking notes on your videos.
Thank you so much for this contribution to music teaching literature!
Thanks!
Best guitar lessons and tutor on the web. Thanks Rob.
This is excellent and particularly the instruction showing us possible ways to practice. The practice method is so helpful in developing the ear and the "feel" of using scale and arpeggios. Thank you :)
Sr , es Ud un extraordinario maestro , muchas gracias , saludos desde Argentina.
Design is super awesome in all your videos!
just WOW! very cool ideas and i thought the whole tone sounded 🔥 thanks so much Rob
i still owe you that beer if i ever cross the pond
I'll keep an eye on the North Sea Channel ;)
Right on. Thanks for sharing.
I actually said "...holy shit!" Out loud when this clicked! 😂😂😂 Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you for posting these great videos. I find a lot of instructional material gets boring or causes me to lose interest pretty quickly, but something about your teaching really resonates with me and I fully intend to spend time learning from you. Thanks once again.
Thank you! I appreciate how thorough and informative your videos are.
Great lesson! This makes arpeggio extensions so much easier! Can you please do one on chaining arpeggios? Your lessons are the best and it’s hard to find anything on chaining arpeggios (ascending and descending). Thanks again!
I'll put it on my list :)
@@QJamTracks thank you!
Thanks Rob. I'd never heard of scale arpeggios before. However, I have unknowingly been using one in one of my own compositions. I'll now go away and investigate further.
Very interesting!! And very good teacher!!
1 million thanks for a video I can't find now when you covered pentatonic substitutions. It has opened up the fretboard all the way for me after years of trying to connect all the dots. Who knew you could play A minor AND/OR B minor pentatonic over an A Dorian jam. The 2 scales blended together connect all the dots!
Fantastic lesson mate!👍 Youre an awesome teacher!
Hi Rob, this is by far one of the best guitar channels ever!
The depth and diversity of your musical knowledge, your technique, your way of teaching so structured and supported by graphics and scores/tablatures, that surely take you a lot of time and work, even the humorous notes that relax the tension of the lesson ;-) are all awesome!
For all that you give us, thank you very much Rob!
Thank you Rafa!
Best guitar lesson and teacher..thumb up
Gracias profesor, saludos desde México!
Just bought the e-book. Love this shining channel and your crystal-clear teaching method. You rock Rob! Greetings from Italy!
Thanks Fabio!
Top notch. Can't wait for the e-book for this one.
Your videos are an inspiration for me to widen the scope of what I hear in my head and the ability to play those ideas. Thank you for sharing.
🎸
OUTSTANDING WORK !!!!
Thank you
Practicing arpeggio patterns with scales to develop technique, is pretty much how I learned my way around various moods and emotions expressed via the vibrating strings. Great video.
Great explanation.... I will now spend the rest of my life trying to incorporate the theory I love into my free play.
I have used your avoid trick for some time. Thank you
Best guitar teacher
Thank you!
interesting.
i don't play guitar, but will try to make an arpeggiator with this kind of logic.
Whew. That was a lot to take in but connects pretty good with where i'm at right now. There'll be PLENTY of hours of practice! Thank you so much for making it.. well, crystal clear :-)
I was hoping that you had an E Book course for this. Thanks for the video.
The ebook is coming up :)
@@QJamTracks Thank you.

Another great and useful post. Thank you.
another great guitar lessons, thanks sir🙏
Love this lesson. Thanks!
thank u sir
mindblowing
I appreciate that you made Locrian sound so good
Another awesome video...very useful and nice sounding way to learn this arpegios and get a better understanding of scales sounds--
I really appreciate your videos!
Gracias Maestro 😊
Can’t help but notice how much the tone and style is reminiscent of Eric Johnson.
hi there, Please upload the backing tracks for practice routine sections(if we want to practice scale arpeggio patterns of 1 key) . I could not find them
Rob, Don't feel bad about "preferably". English is my first and only language and I can't pronounce it half the time. Just bought the E-Book.
Thanks Jeffrey! It's a difficult word :)
I love the avoid notes I think they sound great but man about out to you for putting the modal chords with their alterations/ extentions
Avoid notes can sound wonderful and often the characteristic note for mode. Still... avoid notes should resolve most of the time. Maybe the words 'avoid note' are a bit infelicitous...
I subbed
Thanks
"remember, always keep smiling" 😂

You got all the modes down but couldn't get your pattrens right?
*The video sounds Danish.* His teaching is excellent.
A.Holdswworth would have appreciate...
I have to say something, I just have to
otherwise I'll suffocate myself
uf,ok,calm...
Wellll :D
"avoid notes" - :) it's a myth, and a false one,why?
Because there is something like characteristic notes for each modes :)
and by a strange "coincidence", what they call "avoid"
at the same time it is characteristic,like... gender of the scale
or nationality, or race ("avoid" notes matter!!) looook
Characteristic notes:
c ionian - 4&7 degree (f,b in context of c)
d dorian- 3&6 degree(also f,b but in context of d)
e phrygian - 2&5 (f,b in context of e) etc.
f lydian - 4&7 (b,e)
g mixo. - 3&7 (b,f)
a aeolian - 2&6 (b,f)
b locrian - 2&5 (c,f)
What catches the eye? Triton
but!
Position of the tritone does not work in lydian and locrian
because in root note there is nothing characteristic .
in f lydian ,f is root note
in b locrian,b is root
all scales have root on the first degree
and this is why tonic is not a characteristic note.
f lydian - 4&7(b,e in context of f)
b locrian - 2&5(c,f in context of b)
My question is,how to distinguish scales Ionian from locrian
if we have the same set of sounds in boat
c,f in context of b & f,b in context of c ???
Help!
Hi Rob, as usual, great contents from your channel @ #QJamTracks Thanks a lot! Best wishes 🎸
Thank you Nuno
Love the lessons! I'm an IELTS examiner and instructor. You want some tips to improve your English? Might make you more accessible for those out there who have difficulty understanding.
Thanks! When I start to get complaints about my English I will consider it :)
i was listening to this while driving and fell asleep and caused a 4 lane traffic accident
Are you being srs or are you joking 😂😂😂😂
Sounds like you deserved it
Is it good for DEATH METAL 🤔
