  • In this crystal clear @QJamTracks guitar tutorial you will learn all about superimposing minor pentatonic scales over major, minor, diminished and altered chords. Everything is explained with top notch graphics and tablature on screen. You will also learn to use this technique to create modal improvisations with a simple pentatonic scale on your guitar. Think of the dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian and Locrian mode. This technique of layering minor pentatonic scales of different keys over different chords is used in modern Jazz, but is also a great asset for rock guitar players and suitable for other styles of guitar soloing. I show you why and when to use a certain scale to get a certain effect. Never a boring solo again. Even the altered chords are covered in this video. So this is the ultimate guide for superimposing pentatonic scales, explained crystal clear with super clear graphics and examples with tablature.

I really surprises me that one can even get the modal sounds by applying different degree of the minor pentatonic. Truly a gem. I will keep coming back to this same video to fully digest the content. I have been looking for something like this that shows a way on how to bring up the mode in one's solo. Thank you so much for making this video!

Another great video, I was just working on this last night lol I find it helpful to think of playing mixolydian in pentatonic as b7 major relative to the root chord as it is enharmonic to the 5th minor and easier to remember as b7 is the main flavor of mixolydian and this way you can keep major with major in terms of memorizing. Thanks again!
