An extraordinarily beautiful woman. Her eyes are filled with a haunting sadness that melts the heart. It's easy to see how Richard Matheson fell so deeply in love simply by gazing at one of her portraits and then expressing it by writing one of the most tragic love stories of all time. Thank you so much for making this video.
You have photographs of Maude I've never seen. She was quite beautiful and her loveliness has survived unscathed through the decades through to today. After Maude Adams retired from acting, she worked in Schenectady with the General Electric Illuminating Engineering Laboratory to develop new theater lighting. The 30 kW lamp was developed by Adams in conjunction with the laboratory and used in theaters and airports. There's a photo of her holding the bulb and another of her as a professor.
Such a charming and moving video. I have not seen a more photogenic performer than Maude Adams. Her portraits are nothing less than enchanting, making me wish that I could have known her and learned more about her. Blessed are we all that she lived a long and fruitful life.
Maude Adams was a woman of captivating beauty who, without the slightest doubt, irresistibly attracted the men of her time, and without fear of being wrong, she must have been the platonic love of many of her admirers .
All these years and I didnt know until recently that Jane Seymour's character in "Somewhere In Time" (Elise McKenna) was actually based on Maude Adams. Maude was absolutely lovely..she died the year I was born, actually. All the articles I read about her since shows how talented and legendary she was around the turn of the Twentieth century.. hauntingly beautiful.. Thanks so much for this video :)
Have you seen, "Finding Neverland" with Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet? The scenes of the staging of "Peter Pan" are fascinating as parts of the play are set up with Peter Pan (a Maude Adams character) included.
The popular lovers of that era, or the dream lovers of most men, this is the only reason for the birth of that great novel. Love her, infatuated with her, because of her mystery and beautiful
@@GravitateCarentibus No. How presumptuous you are to assume! She lived a life of simplicity, as the nuns she admired. She is buried with her sister/friend. Perhaps, sir....all nuns are lesbians to you. Again, how arrogant and presumptuous you are to assume and judge!
@@albabotan I never said that all nuns were lesbians. But considering the time and the fact that Adams was buried with her partner's letters gives a lot to think about.
It has been pretty well documented, she was known to have had just two long term relationships - both with women and she is buried next to her true love Louise Boynton.

We have a magnificent original oil painting of Maude Adams as Peter Pan, in its original frame.
me too as Peter Pan!
I had no idea. Even in the photographs, she is magnetic. I am so glad I found your lovely video and wonderful tribute.

Very nice and the background music was certainly appropriate for a lovely lady. As others have said,we should be able to go back in time.

I agree.
@yomommalee She indeed seemed to be a remarkable woman.
@softbullet Muchas gracias.
Belíssima!
No husband, no children, sort of sad.
It was her choice. She loved the life she lived.
@@valholladay2116 Yes. Made me wonder if she may have been an early child abuse victim of the theater types, such as still exists in Hollywood.
@@JoeZyzyx She was lesbian.

She never married.
😍😍😍
@ctrymaus Thanks. The idea came to me yesterday to do the video.
So pretty but she was a lesbian
There is no actual proof of that
It has been pretty well documented, she was known to have had just two long term relationships - both with women and she is buried next to her true love Louise Boynton.
