  • Tesla's 10/10 We, Robot event in Los Angeles, CA looked insane. After just watching the livestream, my FOMO is pumping. The haters will say the timeline is slow, but we just saw the future. Mini Cybertruck robotaxis, Cybercabs, and Robovans ... Optimus robots walking around the party and serving drinks.
    When will we see Tesla's first autonmous ride like Waymo ... that is still TBD. Sounding like 2025 from the event. Let me know what you think in the comments!!
    I own Tesla stock, nothing in this show is financial advice.

      I don’t understand the question about if it is ready yet. They just showed 50 cars driving around a closed course with no drivers in them. This is the most they are allowed to do without getting permits from regulators. And this was required to get those permits.
      What exactly is not ready yet.

    Elon made a KEY statement and yes its the next chapter "Everything we have developed for our cars, the batteries and electronics, the advanced motors and software and AI it all applies to a humanoid robot."
    People will soon realize the AI in the cars directly translates to the Robots. They will have FSD deployed for real Next year in a fleet of cars already on the roads, which will blow peoples minds. The robots will have the AI Brain for doing whatever they are asked to do right after that. The Robot bodies are already designed and working. This means that in 1 year Tesla could be potentially a Trillion Dollar company. That is nothing to scoff at. iRobot is coming to everyone very soon.

      Yes traders want to see next quarter profit streams. This is not that. The first profit stream I see from this is unsupervised FSD in Texas and California. I wonder how soon after they get that to work that they will see new profits because of it.

    • @Martinit0
      @Martinit0 51 хвилина тому

      @@ecospider5 Frankly, we can't expect any additional revenue for the next 12 months, not just a quarter. When Elon said "unsupervised FSD in TX and CA" next year we KNOW he doesn't mean January 2025 - it's going to be more like December 2025. If it were earlier, he'd say "first half of 2025" or Q3 2025 or anything like that.
      Everthing else:
      Cybercab - no revenue until 2027 (26 months), given that they plan to start PRODUCTION in late 2026.
      Cybervan - is not going the be in production before the Cybercab. Personally I think it will have the same fate as Roadster 2. It's going to be a low volume vehicle, likely only for Tesla internal use. So it's going to be pushed back by any other product that has higher revenue potential (larger production numbers). Cybervan is clearly not a family van - way to big for that. It's only suitable for commercial operators.
      Optimus - latest timeline from last earnings call was "ramping Optimus v2 production for outside customers in 2026". In 2025 they plan to produce Optimus for internal use, which means it's going to add to cost, not revenue.

    I have mixed emotions after that event. Like always Tesla knows how to put on a show. The cyber cab looks pretty sick in my opinion, the cyber van that can seat up to 20 people looks crazy, don't even know what to make of that. Full autonomy next year in California and Texas as claimed pending approvals will be hectic, but he must deliver on it.
    I thought the robots in the crowd walking around posing for photos, playing paper scissors rock with people, serving drinks, handing out goodie bags and dancing etc was a cool touch (if a little slow and clunky at times) and the fact model 3 and Y were also both driving around without anyone behind the wheel as well was also good to show all their cars will be able to do it. Having people hitting the Cybertruck with sledge hammers etc was just a bit of fun more than anything useful.
    I was disappointed they didn't use the Tesla App to call for the cyber cab and other cars to show off how it worked and talk about how they were going to run their autonomous rideshare platform in more depth, I was somewhat hoping they'd announce a consumer van would be coming on the same platform as the cyber van, but differently configured and same story with the cyber cab.... Was hoping they'd mention the other compact Tesla car that will use the same platform. Also thought the semi which has been stopped testing for autonomy might get a mention. So in my opinion 6.5/10. Cool, but not as much substance in the presentation as I was hoping for.

    • @LeeFazzani
      @LeeFazzani 6 годин тому +1

      They will definitely reveal a consumer van and compact car at some point. This was just not the right time because they won’t be dedicated robotaxis like the products revealed today.

    • @Martinit0
      @Martinit0 36 хвилин тому +1

      The new compact car won't use the same platform as the robotaxi. During the Q1 earnings call they said the "new models are pulled forward to early 2025 if not late 2024." and " will be made on current production lines". During Q2 earnings call Elon said "affordable model on track for delivery by first half of 2025". The pull-forward of the affordable model means it's not going to be produced using the originally planned "unboxed" method (since that would require new production lines with machinery that doesn't even exist yet). Rather it's going to be conventional production line with some innovations added, hence cost savings will not be as large as unboxed method.
      The robotaxi we expect to be produced using the unboxed method, but AFAIK there was no explicit statement that it would. Given that robotaxi production will start 18-24 months after affordable model (late 2026 vs H1-2025) it seems doable.

They will be able to get their cars ‘unstuck’ from tricky situations via telemetry while open market will decide where the fleets appear.❤ This is huge. I am sure you noticed the fleet of rides with no drivers was the 20 Cybercabs and some model 3 and Y it looked like after the 20 first rides pulled out. They did that so smoothly legacy media likely missed it totally. That's the hook for current owners being able to join app fleet. The difference between Tesla events and other Tech advancement reveals is that Tesla's tech always is just a few months away from reaching consumers while other advancements are years away, stays with the military, or never happens.

      People in the hurricane area with no cellular towers are using TMobile service to send text messages through the Starlink satellites with a standard cellphone. No special equipment needed.
      SpaceX transported 80% of all things to space over the last 12 months.
      Yes SpaceX is a turd.

    No one seems to be thinking about the next affordable car. The reason the cybercab isn’t ready until 2026 could be because the focus is on getting the affordable vehicle out first.

    • @Martinit0
      @Martinit0 25 хвилин тому

      To be honest, this event was dedicated to "Robotaxi reveal". It wasn't supposed to be a general products reveal and we now know that Elon has become cautions to not Osborne existing products. Hence it's safe to reveal a 20-person Cybervan since it wont affect Model 3,Y,S,X. But revealing the affordable car several months before it's available would likely kill 2024 sales. I think this time they will reveal the affordable model and say "order page is live NOW". That's the right way to introduce a more affordable product that could affect existing sales.

    Elon said Robtaxi will start in limited cities this year starting in Texas. I will rewatch the vide to make sure and if that is the case, I will fly out to Texas to get a ride in one ASAP! This entire event was mind blowing. The BOTS were crazy, they are so much further along than any other humanoid bot. Clearly manufacturing these things are getting DIALED IN. If I have more $$ I am going to CONTINUE TO BUY because TESLA IS THE FUTURE I WANT TO LIVE IN.

      Frankly, how important is the look of a taxi? I claim it's irrelevant. You can have a dorky looking taxi like the original London taxi or some unremarkable design like they use in Japan or China. Look doesn't matter. What matters is price and availability.

  • @Dennis0824
    @Dennis0824 2 години тому

    The stock price will drop today. It is the old story; "buy the rumor, sell the news". What most people fail to realize is that Tesla is not a car company; it is a tech company. Tesla earns more revenue from royalties on their patents than on the sale of their cars. Also, don't look at Tesla in isolation. Add in the Starlink network which will also facilitate self driving. I have watched a few videos and read the comments and most of the comments are highly critical. I guess we live in an age of instant gratification and this event didn't deliver that. What is obvious is that Tesla has made tremendous progress and definitely has a well laid out plan moving forward. How many other companies can say that?

    Elon delivered the “what”, what I wanted to see was the “how”. Lay out a path with accurate detail so we, the shareholders, can see how the numbers will work. Saying the cyber cab will reduce costs to .10/per mile doesn’t really answer those questions in full. It doesn’t answer the regulatory questions. This event created more questions than it answered.

    I believe the sparse detail of the event was to give priority to the Experience Design component of the event; and, perhaps that's something that could really only felt from being there. Suffice to say, the use of the Warner Bros movie set was really effective at illustrating a broadstroke of what the future will look like.

    • @ecospider5
      @ecospider5 2 години тому

      I agree. Plus when they have done massive details like at battery day people still didn’t understand. So maybe it was a marketing choice.

    Waymo is rolling out to more cities and growing exponentially with a complete product with remote support and cleaning and maintainance figured out.
    Elon just got on stage to push the Tesla timelines back 2 years, show they have nothing on operations, say that they'll sell the cybercabs for $20k which is utterly bizarre if they're worth $200k (maybe they'd also charge a cost per mile or something?), to not answer any questions about insurance, regulations, how good FSD actually is, manufacturing processes and cost, factory requirements etc.
    That was capitulation, that was them using literal smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that they're not even close to ready. Honestly that was visually good and technically pathetic.

    If I understand Tesla's Master Plan Part 3 correctly, it seems to be the continuation and completion of Parts 1 and 2. From what I gathered, Tesla's next major focus appears to be on home heat pumps. That makes me wonder how robots fit into the picture. Will robots generate more revenue, or will heat pumps take the lead?

    I don't believe a word about cost per mile or cost of the car. They haven't really delivered on timetables for other products or expected cost of products (look at the Cybertruck as an example). I'll only believe it when I see the actual price when (and if) it's on sale, and the actual data for cost per mile over time. Until then, it's pure speculation.

  • @joost3732

    Tesla has an interesting future, but the valuation is way way too high right now. Car production in not going to scale like it did in the past years and all the FSD, taxi, optimus is promising but not profitable anytime soon. You don't have to pretent everything is fine, it's ok to sell and buy back when the market is more realistic about the state of the expected earnings again.

    If the TAXI (Cab) had been a 30% sized version of the VAN I would have been MUCH more impressed.
    During the shots of people taking their rides, did you notice you notice 2 men and 2 KIDS (I presume their sons?) trying to figure out how to fit in the TWO SEATS? Timestamp 1:19:23
    .
    Also, it's been noted elsewhere, what about those not physically able to access those seats?
    A Ubiquitous public transportation vehicle MUST be accessible to ALL passengers, NOT just the able bodied.

    • @ecospider5
      @ecospider5 2 години тому

      One of the things you see at that timestamp was the man getting in the right side and sliding all the way to the left. This means a bench seat which is 3 people.
      A low percentage of Uber rides is more than 3 people and the model Y can fill the gap up to 7 people. The cyber truck is 6 people plus luggage for 2 weeks.

    Why even have this event at this time? They are 2 years away, at best. This event was overhyped... and underdelivered BIG TIME. Vague timelines/rollout, no detailed business model, no OEM partnerships, no $25K car as a stop gap to autonomous, etc. As a long term shareholder this sucks. After the bumpy past 5 yeard we are in for another very bumpy 18-24 months, at best.
