Heads up, removing drywall instead of just rip it out, if you shimmy it pull it back and forth you can pull the screws/ nails out and get full sheets off the wall
@@jeffrichardson5880 not disagreeing at all lol. That and older drywall likes to come off in pieces but new construction drywall comes off nice if you shimmy it lol
@@412jdub unfortunately I never get to remodel newer (post 1985) construction and seems all the drywall people around here want to use ring shank nails… I call them idjets
I came to the comments hoping someone posted the correct way to remove to remove drywall. 👍😅 Ripping out like that is how you would remove really old drywall or plaster
Demoed an old bathroom this week. Removed a portion of a closet from the other room too. Giving the shower more room. Some came out nice in full pieces. There were about 20-30 nails on each stud. Very tough wire mesh in the angles of the ceiling and wall. I don't mind my plumbing, Tiling and Carpentery work. I don't have the energy for demo and carrying all the shit out as a small two man team. But I do it regardless of the exhaustion here and there. As it doesn't occur that much for my work.
The insulation behind his job is fiberglass which he disturbed and sent small glass shards floating through the air. If you have fiberglass batting behind your drywall, WEAR A RESPIRATOR! your lungs cannot get rid of fiberglass particles.
I’d suggest that if at all possible, just have it professionally removed. It’s worth the money. They have special vacuums, exhaust, equipment and precautions. As other comments have mentioned, drywall dust and fiberglass insulation is very dangerous and it gets into your ducts and all throughout your home. After doing that consider having any air ducts cleaned too. And it would likely be faster.
Is it difficult to locate the screws connecting the drywall and the wall studs? Removing the screws first seem to be much cleaner way to remove dry wall.
That’s the less mess, surgical way to do it. Locate all screws with magnet and burrow out its hole. Razor blade to the tape where drywall edges meet. Remove fasteners. Remove entire pieces of dry wall. …. You can also do it like a caveman and get mess everywhere. Then spend time cleaning this shit off everywhere.

Thanks for the video. I want to remove the drywall and put 2 x 6s in it's place to give it an older look. One thing missing is that I would be wearing a mask at least.
Stupid way to remove drywall. All that tugging and breaking off small pieces. Oscillating tool to cut the perimeter, drop the entire sheet. Make "hand holes"...LOL. SMDH.
WOW...U ROCK...THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH...I want to save money and prep a room for drywall installation, but was unsure how to go about doing it. Your a GOD SENT...BLESS YOU! Luv U.
NO! This video was helpful until 2:18. Please do not follow the advice after that point. There's easier ways to remove larger pieces of the sheetrock without hammering holes. There's fiberglass insulation to deal with and zero advice about proper health considerations. Keep searching. There's better DIY videos out there. I'm actually shocked that HD allowed this to be published with their name on it.

not always. EG - older homes with heart pine framing can hold nails harder than vice grips.

Really appreciated the tips at the bottom of the screen. FYI, Some of the them were obstructed when viewing in landscape mode.

Make sure you breathe in all that insulation too.
I work around that stuff it is terrible when you breath it in or let it contact your skin
Oh yeah thats good stuff
Oh hell new guy sat on a scrap piece of fiberglass AC duct... he went back to the hose and I gave em my spare gym shorts 😂 @@KaeycenLim
Don't forget to play with it to release airborne fibers.

Why in heck aren't YOU wearing your respirator?!
Thank you, this was helpful.
I use karate punch to make holes in dry wall!
I can’t comment on you’re UA-cam channel but you have very nice pictures!
@@OriginalTyler , thank you. You and me makes two! :-)
You can also do karate kicks

He seemed nice.
beautiful
Did he cut the studs at 3:09??
Yea he did ....just sad
a mask is good too.
How to make a mess 101
Seems too messy
What a joke. That drywall had no nails or screws. No wonder it came off so easily.
Not good bud
The punch-and-tear method is just stupid.

I'd rather remove in smaller sections like he did at first.
LOL. This guy has no clue.
He forgot to put on his boxing glove first! What a garbage tutorial
This guy is stoned
This is the dumbest comment here.
Great Job Removing It👍👏🙌🔨🪚!!!
