- American Builder Brian Gurry tackles a house with wet drywall from flooding. You have to remove the damaged drywall and insulation and then build it back like it never happened. Sound boring? NOT with BRIAN GURRY showing us the way to get it done fast and while having fun. Drugs not included.
I love the "grumpy dad who secretly loves what hes doing" vibe
Hilarious Been there, and done that for a dozen years and I know exactly how you feel! Yup... Invasive water causes all kinds of damage. It's almost as bad as fire when you consider all of the rip and replace due to water damage. Keep safe, healthy, and happy. Let your humor carry you through the troubling times!
I don’t have any work like this to do, I’m just here for the comedy 😀
"Your contractor, when you're not at home is probably not stapling it."🤣🤣
I wouldn't either.Thanks for the advise!
He knows contractors cheat when you are not around. I dont trust them.
Wow that wall at the beginning looked soaked. Great video.
How the hell do you only have 4.5k subs? Love your attitude!
Just for those watching, those self sticking rolls of tape cost about $10 a roll versus the standard Paper tape which runs $2.00 a roll and less. Most people only use the self stick for patches and other small repairs.
I was thoroughly entertained and learned how to drywall lol
Entertaining and informative video. Thanks!
I’m here doing some diy mold removal research… Is it odd that this was quite entertaining because of the “melt downs” ??? Lol… 🙌
I was even bored...but the commentary was what got me through...lol...
You crack me up! We could have been brothers. I listen to you and it sounds like me talking to myself! Good Video.
"Doing the corners is a pain in the butt". Hahaha...doing drywall is a pain in the butt!
When I remove sheetrock I use a drywall router and follow the length of the 2x4. I set it to the drywall depth. I end up with a an 15 inch wide chunks - and it take less time.
Informative and entertaining 😂
This guy is a real man - no mask, no protective eyewear, no protective suit.
Reminds me of my dad.
I, on the other hand, am a complete sissy who is scared of every potential danger.
Very helpful video! My renovated shower smells like mold. Room is more ventilated than before as an exhaust fan was added. Is there a way I can measure moisture in the tiled walls and tiled shower pan floor?
I had never heard of a moisture meter before watching this
works on delivered firewood you want for your shed, too. When the motley crew delivers the (hmmm) "1 year dry (partial) "cord"), whip out your moisture meter on a few logs before they unload. I could tell by the truck load that I was being cheated in amount, and my meter told me it was all (!) not dried. That's serious business.
Safety first, you should had the mask on before anything started, and have put that knife/saw down when you were yanking the pieces of drywall out. :) Great video!
Maybe I should put on a bulletproof vest, a helmet… Steel toed shoes…😂😂
That intro is mint!
There's a reason why screws shouldn't be countersunk with a hammer. Sooner or later it will pop.
Now I know why some of my ceiling nails ( or screws) have popped through
Thought the drywall wasn't supposed to touch the floor since it could pick up moisture?
You used the moisture meter to show people, but you knew damn well that it was hamburger behind the wall because it was so wet. I hope people take your advise about soaked insulation. It takes forever to dry out inside a wall. The drywall and insulation needs to be removed ASAP, before a plethora of black mold grows.
When putting on the mesh tape or any tape, you really should avoid doing everything how he did it. Longevity wise, 10-20 years down the road, the adhesive will begin to fold, especially in humid climates. Important to start the tape in the middle and pull one way, and then come back to the middle and pull the other way. Why? Because you need even resistance that works with and against eachother to keep its hold for generations. I can't tell you how often I see poor taping jobs like this, and the dry wall begins to lose it's aesthetic appearance because someone put on the tape like it was a sticker. It's even bonus if you put on a light coat across the drywall boards prior to taping, even with Mesh tape. Keeping strength is important.
All those dings with the hammer with the dry wall screws is also a lazy way of temporary fixing a flush dry wall screw that should easily be adjusted to dimple case point. Another 10-15 years, time with bring them back out and impede through the drywall/mud.
So he removed the moldy parts and took it all to the face? And didn’t use air scrubbers or really do any special procedure like isolate the area, negative air pressure so spores and toxins don’t spread?
“Wonder why the contractor didn’t get much done today, cause he spent 3 hours with the staple gun”
FACT the smallest stuff will cause the biggest slow down 😂😅
Kind of off topic here.. but does anyone know a good place to get fried wontons in the Hudson Valley area?
This guy was giddy from all the $$$ he was seeing.
At 3:39 you can see a bug scooting near the orange pipe : )
3 dollars for a drywall pan 😂 try 18. Wait this is only 4 yrs ago? 😢
“...i did the drywall so smooth cuz i’m that good...” this dude sure expresses his level of expertise quite a bit throughout the video 😂😂😂 some great tips though
I guess I am kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch newly released movies online?
@@andredemetrius6083 I know this is off topic but do you know any good barbers in Minnesota?
You DON'T HAVE YOUR MASK ON
What? No vapor barrier
Wait… why aren’t you wearing protective gloves. Doesn’t the insulation itch.
$10 for a T square ??!!!
In 2022 they are $40 - $50 +
Do not use mesh tape in corners. There are so many things this guy did wrong once he started taping.
This bad start is due to not having one of those little electric pneumatic staple guns. They're faster.
lol, no drywall cone? is that drywall 101
The mold…
9:20 you're#1
Power saw to remove drywall 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
These houses are made out of paper, they need different building materials
This is me minus the skills.
👍
No mask when cutting?
O,k._Now mask 👍🏼
"I should've been a plumber" ..aka "turd herder". And the plumbers say, "I shoulda been a sparky, or a counterfitter (pipe fitter), or .......a foreskin (you guess it) :)
Tape on top of the wet compound? Hammer the screws in with a hammer? This isn’t how I do it. This guy really does brag a little too much
