- Опубліковано 13 жов 2024
- Today...we compare gloss, durability, heat and chemical resistance for two user friendly liquid waxes. Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 produces unbelievably deep, vibrant color and a dramatically clear wet-look. Provides relentless water beading. Protects against oxidation, corrosion, UV rays and surface degradation. Builds incredible protection and surface tension, water beads up and just glides off. Paint will be darker and richer. Shine will be the deepest, clearest you've ever seen. ESP (Engineered Synthetic Polymers) technology creates a tougher, polymer bond to your paint so it can provide extreme protection. Eliminates fine scratches. Glides on and off easily. One large Peak microfiber cloth great for polishing and buffing all paint surfaces (color may vary) and one Peak foam pad evenly applies wax, polish, and protectant to all surfaces.

Both were PATHETIC! Next!
Hi Brian. I have been using turtle wax ice paste wax. And I must say that the ice liquid looked quite disappointing. Especially how thin it was I never seen anything like that. From what I seen on your video I definitely will not be buying the liquid. Any way you could test the ice paste wax some time soon.
When I use the paste form it’s way more hydrophobic. And last much longer at least 4-6 months And that’s when it’s sitting outside 24 hours a day seven days a week in the summer which gets up to 90 degrees or a little more in buffalo New York. Yes the paste form seems much much more tenacious.
I’m not a fan of either one megs the gloss dropped and the turtle wax is way to messy to apply.
don t know how to explain its the lid of turtle wax i replaced it with
www.consumentenbond.nl/binaries/content/gallery/cbhippowebsite/tests/vaatwasser/afbeeldingen/predikaat-bestekoop-w5.jpg < --------- with this lid to get a drop.in the past by applying to much was so hard to buff it off by hand.we use to have ice products available not any more so for me nxt 2.0 want to buy
Both are a waste of time 🤷🏼♂️
Don’t think Meguiar’s has changed NXT 2.0 since it came out in 2009.
Your testing technique is starting to border on lab grade scientific :) Thank you for all your efforts and time spent doing this research.
Brian do a video on TW Seal & Shine v Ceramic Coatings... I've been waiting for this now for weeks. Love your stuff Bud.
Didn't he demonstrate it with TAC Moonlight?
Several years ago Consumer's Reports did extensive testing of a bunch of polishes and some name brands actually dulled the panels. The overall winner was New Finish.
I've used the ICE paste wax and it performed beautifully. It held on for a good 6 months.
J.T. Blair I agree. I also use ice paste wax. I never seen a liquid wax like that turtle wax ice. Kind of disappointing when you compare her to the past
Ice paste is the best
Hard to beat ice paste wax I love it kiddo
onr detailing news I totally agree. Glad I seen this video because I was about to buy some ice liquid.
I never seen anything sooo thin like water. To be honest it looked very disappointing. I will not be by in the liquid form. And it did not come close to preforming like the past version.
I put down seal and shine directly onto a prepped car then wate a day maybe 2 depending if I have time or not. Then I apply two coats of ice paste wax. One coat the first day then the next day another coat. And to be honest nothing can get that off.Not even purple power boat and vehicle . I put 6 oz into my foam cannon and let it dwell for about 7 minutes. The turtle wax just laughed at it. I even heard it. 😂 LOL. When I rinse it. It beaded like the wax was 1 day old just beaded like it was brand new. That says a lot for turtle wax
Perhaps it was coincidental, but after the final protection test turtle wax only seemed to repel the water in the area in which heat was applied. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong. Good test!
I see that...it is a wonky product.
@@apexdetail85 maybe silicons polymerized with heat, rendering it more durable , maybe if you let it the sun making it way more durable like other products as well.
Possibly some cure time would help?
Just put NXT on my 19 black tacoma today after a clay bar (luckily it's new enough the paint didn't need paint correction just yet). I used to use it a lot on harder paints because i was a vw/audi guy and I hated having to prep the harder paint surfaces with the full aresonal of cleaners, polish's, cutting, etc... with the toyota it went on and off stupid easy using my porter cable to apply with a black foam applicator I usually use for my caranuba wax's. Ezpz and shine is what I expected it to be. I keep going back because of ease of use and longevity in between wax's.
I think for the price, Turtle Wax would be great for when you maybe want to do a quick maintenance, detail job with a simple wash and wax and get great results. Keep a bottle close at hand and just grab and go. Maybe the NXT for when you want to take a little bit more time detailing your car. I still have some of the original NXT paste wax and it always did a great job on my VW.
The NXT 2.0 is still the best smelling lsp I've ever used. In the real world though, I felt that it only lasted a month or 2. I haven't used it for like 5 years but it was still ok for its time.
I've used Turtle Wax Ice and had great results with it. All though the Turtle Wax did a great job and gave an incredible shine to my car, the one thing I thought was it was messy to work with, with the wax bring as runny as it is. All be trying NXT wax next time and see how it does for me. Great vid, keep up the good work!!😀😀👍👍
Hi Brian, I agree with your conclusion. Slight nod to the Meg's. That being said, I don't think I'd consider using either of them. There are sooooo many better options out there. Nevertheless, a fun video. Thanks!!
Billy, what do you like better? I use the ICE because it is cheap and seems good. Note: I don't drive my Vette in the rain or snow. So I need something for cleanup resistance to bug-splat.
I dont like liquid waxes....but TW at least did not lose gloss units.
I tried Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax in the real world and it lasted less than 2 months . The stuff seems to lose a lot of gloss in 2 weeks after application .
Get some Zaino Z-2 Pro and try it .
I'd love to see how Finish Kare 1000P holds up. It has a very good reputation for durability and gloss.
I would also like to see you test Finish Kare 1000P. Very inexpensive and it’s my go to product in the summer. Easy to apply and wipes off easily after it hazes.
For their older products like this, Meguiars claims protection is still there even though beading is gone. The problem is that it’s so hard to tell the difference between what’s still protected and what’s gone. I’m surprised they never updated the formula in a decade or more.
Im just a regular guy...but I love my car. I dont go nuts like the pro's but I do use NXT and my car shines like a pearl. I guess the people who say both of those waxes are losers use some darn good stuff. I mean u had to apply and rub in a harsh chemical to get the wax to fail.....My car doesnt come across harsh chemicals being rubbed into it....so NXT is fine for me.
The chemicals are used to simulate weeks and months of exposure to get an idea of durability. The more resistant it is, odds are, the longer it will last in real world conditions before you need to reapply.
The reason these suck, is because you could buy a bottle of Seal & Shine for half the price. It is much easier to apply and will provide an actual gloss increase, with much better durability and a significantly longer protection lifespan.. Superior in every possible way at half the price.
But any protection is better than no protection. Use the products you like and enjoy! 👍👌✌
@@jdisdetermined Yes I understand the concept......Regular people dont see Seal and Shine on the shelves......people that are into the art of detailing know the ins and outs of all of these different products. If Seal and Shine left my car looking better then NXT and it protects even better.....great....I will Google it...thanks.
Huh....its Turtle Wax......I just checked it out. Ok.....I will compare it my self and see. Much cheaper for sure. Probably at Walmart I would assume.
@@jimv1484 you said your vehicle is not exposed to harsh chemicals so it was irrelevant, which led me to believe you were not aware the chemicals are used in place of time and exposure to gauge long term durability. But my mistake, did not mean it as an attack or sarcasm..
Seal & Shine, being a Turtle-Wax product, is available at pretty much any store that sells other detailing products. Wal-Mart, AutoZone, etc., usually right by the Ice spray wax, as it's a spray sealant/wax.
Definitely look into it if you want some better protection that is versatile and very easy to use.
Some people enjoy the experience and ritual of waxing their vehicles frequently, classic cars especially, so durability is less important to them. 👍👌✌
Yep its Turtle Wax! Pretty crazy, they ruffled all kinds of feathers with Seal & Shine! It puts a lot of the expensive designer brands to shame. Brian has many videos putting it heads up with competitor products. 😁👍
Another thorough video Brian!
Any chance you could match up Turtle Wax seal and shine against a true old school competitor, might have to ask it to come out if retirement even...Klasse sealant glaze! If so, do you know the simple trick to applying it🤔
I will put it up against Moonlight next.
A "gloss meter"? I never knew there was such a thing
Really great video of detail methods!👍👍👍
Interesting video, Brian.
With that particular panel it would be good to see how long some products lasted if you let the cleaning agents sit on one part and wipe the other. Using the contoured part of the panel as the divider.
So if you spilled something on the panel and rinsed it off it would do this damage to the protection on your vehicle but if you wiped the panel it could do THIS to the protection.
This is the best explanation 🙌🏾
I have used the title wax multiple times and I find it much easier to use if you get a spray bottle and spray on to an applicator. I have issues with any more than one spray at a time. It seems like on spray per half panel works well.
I use meguiars ultimate liquid wax. Been begging you to try it out 🤞🏽🤓
I've been using ultimate liquid and paste wax. Very pleased with them.
Nether product, to me, did not have anything I would consider protection in the last round. For me, protection was a tie. This would tie up the comparison then correct? If so, both pass to the next round ;) .
I used to really like the ice paste wax. Not sure if it's the same formulation these days but regardless, I've moved on. I'll definitely be skipping the liquid
I really like the ultimate liquid wax by meguiars
It's just so expensive
I have a stupid question, somewhat realated to this vid.difference btwn a APC and a degreaser .pre panel prep for polishing or compounding.when/ why to use one or the other or both? What is the difference between the two.? Maybe this is a vid aimed at beginners that needs to be done.understand decon wash, deiron, claying and then clay lube residue removal.APC or a degreaser after.sorry,confused.seems either could be potentialy harsh.i just use a IPA before putting a pad to it.thanks for all you do.!
Too close to call. A little surprised with all the hype over Ice. I say it comes down to cost or brand loyalty. Both seem very good for what they are.
We can get almost similar result with a cheaper ICE spray wax or S&S..
It seems like ICE liquid wax is a big no no..
I can buy 2 bottle of spray wax instead of 1 bottle of liquid wax and still get some change left..
Turtle Wax Ice Seal N Shine, ftw.
Why would you use either of these instead of the cheaper tw seal and shine? Great video once again 👍
exactly, but thy need to be tested, if we dont, we may ignore just like S&S was ignored for a long time,
Hi! Do you think the test would be the same or matter if you measured gloss indoors compared to outdoor on the final results (just eliminating as much variables as possible to eliminate false positive results)
Bothwork alike, I wonder if they can be applied on pre existing Silica treatments, coatings
How do you think meguiars ultimate liquid wax compares?
Hi Brian I have a question about washing microfiber towels . Say I apply bead maker to my hole car. Now the towel is kinda soaked with bead maker but no dirt because I washed the car prior to application. Should I wash the towel or use again but for a different application maybe wax removal.????
Thanks for your help. Love your videos they are entertaining and fun and informative👍👍👍😃
Wash immediately.
Apex Detail Thank you. Give your dog a big hug for me 😃😃😃😃👍👍
I tried the Turtle Wax Ice years ago and was terribly disappointed. It left specks of glitter on the surface imitating metallic paint but poorly so.
The NXT I purchased must of been defective. I got one use out of it. The next time I tried to use it, I discovered the water had separated. No matter how much or long I shook the bottle, the product would not mix back. Very strange.
Outstanding brother
Liquid waxes are the thing of the past!! Turtle wax seal and shine is THE TRUTH
plus who wants white wax in crevices and junk all over black plastics?
@@jusb1066 honestly man! Such a pain.....
I think you may havemisinterpreted The Ice Wax instructions. They way I read it is apply half ounce to pad then apply tihn layer to each panel with loaded pad, not half ounce per panel. The loaded pad could probably do the whole vehicle lol. Who knows but the instructions leave something to be desired for sure.
Yes...but the loaded pad dumps tons of product onto the panel with just the lightest touch.
I don't get it. Ice used to be clear like water. Is it better now or worse? How is it on plastic?
Can you give give Ethos Liquid ceramic wax a test?
How is it possible for the gloss to decrease after applying a sealant?
B another epic video my friend. Thanks for all you do for the industry ❤️. I’d say the NXT is the winner. Less product usage. Slight ease in removal. A better darken effect. But both pretty average. I’d say Nu Finish would have held ;)
Also the gratuitous leg shot. *growl ;) ha
Using meguiar, can I use paste wax afterwards? Like pete's 53 black Pearl, tks
2021 consumers reports rated nxt 2.0 the best,,,,,of all waxes etc
Nxt is perfect on plastics and rubbers , no white residus
Imo not enough of a difference for me. I would choose whichever cost less and was the easier to apply
Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 paste wax is better then Liquid Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0
Both waxes shine good but Turtle is harder to remove by hand
Been using Meguiar's for decades. not I'm using Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic wax and detailer.
Too close to call on protection, 2 very similar performer's, great vid Brian, always interesting!!
13:08 It's no coincidence. Nxt will reduce gloss and make it look more like wet.
If there are any " long lasting polymers " in NXT, they are in the plastic of the bottle it comes in . Zaino AIO will outlast NXT but keep it off the vinyl trim . If you don't need cleaning properties, use one coat of Zaino Z-2 Pro and it may last you 6 months .
Common sense, the half .oz is obviously not meant for a small test area. They clearly mean load it up and do the car.
John Marc the first few panels are going to be drenched! F that!
I wanted to show how much product is released onto the panel with just the slightest touch.
Could you do a video on cure times for waxes? Say pick one wax. Wipe on, wipe off; wipe on, wait 5 minutes; wipe on, wait 15 minutes
Dumb question but shouldnt you have divided that 1/2oz by 3 since you have it spilt into 3 sections
I mostly wanted to show how wasteful and hard to manage following the label would be.
O okay. I only said that because it wouldnt have been as messy if you only did a 3rd of the 1/2oz
Turtle was should of got the point to me the other had nothing let when you was hitting it with water. Turtle wax ice had some left in the middle
I think nxt and tw ice is end user products, maybe for some people 's both product is good to maintenance daily cars, but for detaling bisnis isn't good choices 😀😀😀GL all
Nu finish is worth testing just bc it makes that once a yr claim i back in the day used it 4-6 times a yr 😂
great product review and video again buddy. b well good friend
Would you say these products out perform say Collonite 845 or 476?
Hey Brian. Would be great to see Angelwax Corona and Optimum Spray Wax up against the likes of Seal & Shine and Megs HCW. Keep up the great work 👍
Protection I would say was a tie.
They want you to pour a half an ounce so you'll have to buy more product.
Protection very close. Turtle wax over the top. Shine is king.
I just bought the meguiars Nxt in paste wax it should be better, but are it still produced anyone knows?
Well NXT 2.0 has not improved their product much? And the TW 1/2-oz application, really?
Remember the nxt spray wax? That’ was dismal, think it got binned from the uk shelves in under a year.
Why ?
Need something with filling capabilities that is not optimum clear coat restorer .
Sorry you had to put your time into these. Next!
Durability if i use the car every day?
Never in my life have I ever seen or heard of a gloss reader.
Crazy.
Meguiars tech wax 2.0 is formulated to make metallic paints pop ' instead of solid colors
I would like to see Fusso VS BSD i know they are not competitor to each other but i wonder :))
Detail 35 geez lol fusso sucks TW SS smokes it
I use NX also on my other car and the other cars I use Jescar Power lockplus and over that Collinite 845 wax. Can you do a test on those two products.
How do I get an Apex t-shirt?
Right below the sub box on each video.
Proceeds go to the Detailing for Dyslexia charity
You would think TW Ice line would perform similarly
its not really a well thought out procedure, its a combination of older things rebranded to look modern, in the end they dont need it at all, seal and shine wipes them all out, but i guess they want to sell the older stuff
Its not honnest because everytime you put water on the turtle spot so i think turtle is the winner.
Mcguiar is good but turtle is a slide better. do not spread wateer on turtel wen it dry's up my friend because then it is not fair.
The NXT 2.0 was much easier to use than Turtle Wax Ice liquid.
THE half ounce does a whole hood bro, not a quarter of one...
I wish they had the NXT paste.
I've used both, the paste is much better. But the ultimate range is better still so I'd go with that.
Half ounce is a lot , use more buy more ! Marketing at its best haha 😂
NXT FTW!
Ever test Zymöl’s cleaner wax?
Turtle ICE is no joke ..
NXT....Very friendly use......
You should the Street Fighter sounds Fight!!! Lol
I would love to find one without getting a copyright strike.
Have you heard of or used SB3 ceramic coatings?
Yes....top notch.👍
Anyone remember Raindance lol 😂
Yes! Good stuff!! WOW, blast from the past.....
254JROCK omg What ever became of a Rain Dance
Or TR-3 Resin Glaze! In the metal cans! That stuff was actually pretty impressive in its day..
Any one knows the best online store for this products?
Detail Image, Autotopia, Autogeek....
@@apexdetail85 thank you so much
La NXT ES POWER GOD
I would call it a draw.
It said quarter ounce 1/4 means a quarter not half oz which would be 1/2 😂😂😂
7:34
It says 1/2 ounce
Somewhere in india or china theres a factory full of children laughing at you because they make it all the same.
👍🤙🤘
The Meguiar's is clearly the overall better wax. 🤦
I pass on the meguiars because of the annoying shape of the bottle!
No
NEXT 😬
No winner!!!??? 👎 I wasted my time watching this. Maguires won 🏆in my opinion.
