    "Gravel" is aluvial, water sorted material with everything between fine silt all the way up to large stones, selected an separated by the flow of water.
    The term you are looking for is crushed stone, man made, mechanically separated material that has just the desired unit size.
    Gravel = natural separation
    Crushed stone = you order the size you want.

    That is going to be one nice fire when you get it going. It really is amazing how the dirt differs in such a short distance. You have both rich and poorer soils on your farm, a couple miles away not good soils at the Bealy place, the 90 acre project had some very good soil, and this place having poorer soil in front and good in back. And you being able to sculpt beautiful land in all of it. It's easier to build a nice home and pasture when you've given them such good bones. Thanks for sharing, Chris. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

    Yes, he does it correct now!
    There is a new one you can nail him on. I asked him, aren’t you supposed to grease an excavator every day or 8 hours of operation? He finally greased his, and some of the grease fittings were clogged. They were dry as an old bone. 😈

    • @mikeznel6048

      Most of our building grade lumber comes from Canada and the Pacific Northwest. Fir trees make building grade lumber. Regular pines are great for low grade or wood products. The trees need to be big enough and of the right species to be financially feasible to saw into lumber, along with a good amount of them. Hauling is a major cost too with diesel being as much as it is.

    Takes skill to spread that stone evenly over a distance - saves time for the one who usually spreads it from piles. D6 does a great job - suppose the operator makes it look so. It's such a pity that the logs cannot be used in construction of some kind - cost is prohibitive. Think Mike has learnt and you will make sure he doesn't forget - fun times.

    Every time I see a culvert put in, it looks like it should be 5’ or 10’ longer so the road shoulders could be a bit wider.

    • @dirtfarmer7472
