    Styling Tips To Help You Hide Your Tummy | 2024 Fashion Trends
    I regularly get asked about styling tips to minimise a tummy and so today I decided to share a few more tips on how to do it with what I call illusion dressing. In a nutshell, illusion dressing is simply using simple styling secrets to create the illusion of something different. Anyway, if you carry a little extra weight around your middle and you'd like to look a little slimmer and trimmer - without having to do anything except tweak a few of your favourite outfits - then I'm sure you'll find some of these tips and tricks really helpful.
    Thanks for watching.

    For those of us who have a colostomy / illiostomy bag peplum & a little longer tops & jackets helps conceal them. I exercised, had my shakes (veg & such for years ) too much of a good thing. In moderation is the best. Focus on the positive! & move on! Walking & weights are best. Cut back on sugar . I can’t have veg. Now or anything that doesn’t go through my stoma. I love them but won’t go through. Meat must be tender. One day at a time but I still enjoy my life! Never give up! Too much of a good thing can cause blockage! Think on the Lord ! No negatives! Love to all!take care!

    I go horse riding 3x a week. I think that is the best fitness option for me at the moment. I tried going to the gym, but I think I chose the wrong exercises and my legs got very muscular, which I didn't like at all. I also ride my bike to work, so that's a good way to incorporate a little exercise in your daily routine. Personally, I'm more interested in food videos, because I'm always looking for easy and healthy recipes, because I get bored quickly 😊 I'm 29, btw, but I love your videos! There is always something for everyone ❤

      That's because losing weight is 99% what you eat/don't eat and contrary to myth, exercise does not help a lot towards weight loss. What has helped me is becoming whole-food plant-based, if you're interested check out non-profit channels like pcrm or Chef AJ, you don't have to become vegan, but the more veggies and fruit and legumes and wholegrains you eat (without added oil/sugar) the easier it is to lose weight

    • @karenflores1203
      @karenflores1203 2 місяці тому

      @@Thestyleinsider. Unfortunately, no. I have gotten into a rut of just wearing oversized and loose clothing. I have tried the advice of wearing “body skimming” clothes but when I look in the mirror and see the fabric lay on the lumps and bumps that really bother me, I become even more self conscious. There was a dress in your video that reminded me of the only outfit I ever wore where I was not pulling and tugging on it all night. I have learned that any outfit where I am not feeling self conscious or tugging at it (though not necessarily the most flattering) is better than one where I am sitting there dying for the moment I can get home to take it off. In my fashion journey if you will, the one piece that I find I can wear and feel some sort of comfort is a black blazer. I wear it like armor if that makes any sense.

      @@karenflores1203 Leonie gave us an excellent tip from a video last year. It was about Posture - and she demonstrated. Not just our Posture when standing still, but when we're moving too. How that can make everything we wear look better.
      🔹That's where an easy sequence of Dance+Stretch moves can lift up our Posture. Some people attend a fun, adult dance class for exactly these benefits. Plus the social aspect and upbeat music of course. Put on your favorite salsa tracks, or Frankie Valli in Grease! .... and away you go. Sidesteps, punching arms, knees-up twists, Saturday Night Fever moves etc. Everybody is allowed to dance!! no rules or restrictions. You may find these gentle movements help your body to stand taller, open up your diaphragm to breathe deeper, loosen your shoulders, and just feel easier in yourself. And then .... easier in your clothes. (This is not about weight or size, it's about the joy and benefits of movement. If anyone laughs at you - you laugh right back. And tell them 'Momma's shaking that thang 😉)

    Hey Leonie, great examples for the content with your narrative. Some great pointers and I notice there are some of these that would work out for me. I am not a big fan of elastic belts anymore because depending on the how it made it can start digging into the flaps or indentations. Yea, not a fan of elastic waist but I like it in the back like you mentioned or the sides but overall for pants gives me grandma vibe. In the past year I’ve gotten rid of any and all pants that pinch at the waist. The elasticated waistband is sorely UNDERrated! I’ve never truly had a waist. Pictures of me when I was 3, or 12 or 16 and in heavy training for sports (I played volleyball, basketball, ran track, and swam. . .) The only thing that has changed is the stomach expansion during menopause (BOO!) So I have very broad shoulders, a huge rib cage, and an ample bust. My body might not be the beautiful hourglass shape many covet, but it is what it is. I’m 60, but I’m still very physically strong. I could lose a few pounds. . . but I am going to try the half tuck, and play with it a little. I NEVER works if ya don’t give it a go! (Great video! Thank you for sharing your tips, tricks, and what works for you!)

      @emilyevans6989 Loved your comment 👏 I'm sure you integrated when you were younger - that your body was an asset for the sports you listed. Your physiology (and likely great lung capacity) helped you perform to a high standard. /I had my own little moment of recognition in my late twenties. Was at an outdoor pool on an extra hot day. A young woman walked past in her swimsuit, feet out like a dancer. She had a square shaped female body, with negligible waist, just like mine! She held herself with such confidence, and was so strong and lovely looking, that a little switch in my brain flicked. My body shape will never resemble an hourglass. But that's okay - I'm still a perfectly fine version of female. I always bless that young woman for strolling past. She looked like a gymnast.

      @@comealongcomealong4480 I’ll bet money you’re PERFECT! There were a few years in my life that I ALLOWED people to make me feel “less than” in my life. Specifically middle school and junior high. If I have true regret in my life, that would be it. I SHOULD have held my head high just like the girl you described. I also wish I had been a better CHEERLEADER for those girls who were marginalized in my small town. Yeah. Those are regrets. Today I make it my business to assure those I come in contact with that they are INCREDIBLE just as they are-LIKE YOU! No matter what your age is, I bet you’re a great friend, a riot to be around, a great person with a humble heart and a bit of a madcap streak! That’s who I want to spend my time with-you’re EXACTLY the woman I want to call my friend. As time passes, I realize I want to have a good time wherever I go, or I just won’t stay long! I wish all pants came with back-elastic, and not only for comfort. I don’t have any hip curves, so pants tend to slide down without some elastic at the waist. Plus, I don’t have a super-defined waist and often need that extra two inches of stretch at the waist somI can size down to get a better fit around my skinny hips and thighs.

  • @d.y.e3803
    @d.y.e3803 2 місяці тому +1

    Yes, own one's curves!!! I don't know why women beat themselves up when it comes to this one. Women's bodies go through a lot of changes over decades and one needs to just go with the flow. I went from 36/25/36 in my 20s/30s to 38/31/38 in my 50s and now in mid-60s and different measurements in between. But, I'm from a culture that loves curves so in general having curves aren't an issue as they're looked at as a beautiful part of womanhood. I'm one to buy fashions that show curves. I recently bought a new denim Ganni blazer that's very fitted and defined at the waist and then curves out at the hips.
    As for working out, I recently bought a couple weights, but need to start using them here at home for upper body. I refuse to go to a gym again as I spent 10 years working out regularly at a gym and am done with it. Plus, I have a bike and can also use it for riding around my neighborhood to strengthen and give definition to the legs, but thank goodness don't have to work out for the stomach as it's always been flat. But, I think that has a lot to do with what I eat, don't eat.
    I gave up meat and then poultry forty-eight years ago and that has personally worked for me. I've stuck to vegan/ vegetarian (basically non dairy), macrobiotic, some fish, and lots of vegetables, but I even loved vegetables when I was a child. I grew up in a household that ate a lot of vegetables and fruit.
    Greetings from Los Angeles

    I’m 63 and slender and yes, my tummy is a bit rounder than it was in my youth. I don’t feel I need to hide or disguise it, though, we women are supposed to have some softness and curves. I tuck in all my tops because it improves the visual proportions so much that it offsets any potential improvement from covering my tummy. Big, long shirts and tunics over skinny bottoms have been out of style for ages, I wouldn’t be caught dead in this outfit.

    • @Mayfrancisxavier
      @Mayfrancisxavier 2 місяці тому +8

      😮 I am short and round, particularly in my tummy area and some of the time I tuck in and some of the time I need to cover. You are very lucky that you have always been slender and only have a bit of a round tummy, which is not the same as a big, round stomach, so I’m happy for these tips to come my way.

      Tunics of yesteryear yes, but longer, collared button down shirts left untucked over straight leg jeans and pants are very much in style, and a classic look. Also button down, collared shirts left unbuttoned as a layering piece over a tank top/t-shirt is a classic, stylish look, and they also look great half tucked or fully tucked. You are right, we shouldn’t over criticize our tummies, but it’s nice to have options to disguise them if we have rounder, more protruding tummies, and feel amazingly stylish and confident when heading out the door😊

      Oh and I just love the taste of the collagen powder and it makes my coffees extra creamy :)

      @@Thestyleinsider.I find this as well. Despite actually being more active than I was ten years ago, I don’t have the same appetite. I think I use to snack mindlessly whereas now I take the time to make up snacks that both taste good and are healthy.

    Dear Leonie, I like your video's very much but this time I did not. I love your regular video's where you tell about fashion, the trends and what to look for. But now you combined three things: the tummy problems (a lot of woman can relate to that) and food and exercise advice. Why not accept our bodies as they are, and just give advice how to look your best self, including how to dress with a large breast / hips/ short legs/ hiding a tummy etcetera. Not the other things. That gives me the message that I am not good enough if I have a tummy, and I most go on a diet and/or to the gym. We can get health advice on the internet as much as we wish for, as well as exercise advice. But I like your video's for the fashion and to be included, with or without a tummy.

    I agree that we need to love our bodies, but also do something about the things we don't like if it's possible to change them, for example maintain a healthy weight, exercise, dress well. Excess weight is never healthy, there is nothing positive or healthy about being overweight or obese so I don't look up to the grossly overweight women you have featured on this video, yes they're making an effort with their clothes, but they don't look great, and they must be so unhealthy, however positive and happy they claim to be with their weight, I actually don't believe they're happy.

      @luluandmeow Gosh, I am surprised you felt the need to go off in this particular comment - about other people's size and happiness. You appear to have a set of Rules and Commandments in your head, which you apply to people you don't know. I'm glad you're holding a healthy weight and are happy ..... but your Way is not for Every Body.

    Gin and tonic every night? Alcohol is the worst for health for women more than once a week.Sounds so unfeminine too. Sorry...

    I would not like to see more about what you eat or your fitness, thank you but please stick to what you're an expert in, i.e. style. Collagen creamer - there's no scientific evidence these products do anything. Protein powder - unless your doctor said you are protein deficient, this is another modern myth that people need more protein, virtually nobody does, it's just a dangerous myth and marketing (what people do need is more fibre, more veggies, etc.) Protein only helps to build muscles if you exercise, and protein is everywhere, in broccoli, in beans and other legumes, in all plant foods, you don't need to eat fatty meat or what is probably mercury-contaminated salmon. Your snacking on biscuit and chocolate is not healthy. Intermittent fasting can lead to eating disorders and is not as fantastic as people think as restriction is usually followed by overeating. I am glad your way of eating works for you, but it would not be healthy or sustainable in general and I'd rather you did not promote it on what is a style/clothes channel. Personally I trust non-profit sources like pcrm YT channel, lead by scientists and doctors who specialise in nutrition and are not selling anything.

      I agree that further research on collagen supplements is needed, but the research that *has* been done looks good.
      From an article on the NIH (the US National Institute of Health) website, ‘Oral Collagen Supplementation: A Systematic Review of Dermatological Applications’-
      “Preliminary results are promising for the short and long-term use of oral collagen supplements for wound healing and skin aging. Oral collagen supplements also increase skin elasticity, hydration, and dermal collagen density.”
      The website also has a number of other articles on randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies on the efficacy of oral collagen supplementation. All of those studies have shown positive results.
      Anecdotally, I added a collagen-peptide supplement to my diet 6-8 months ago, hoping it might help with some chronic joint pain. It really hasn’t seemed to help with my old sports injury, but I have seen a striking -and unexpected- difference in my nails. My formerly strong nails had become quite brittle and very prone to breakage over the last decade (I’m in my 60s), but now are strong and healthy again, almost never breaking. I noticed the improvement after about 3 months. And they are growing faster as well. Also, my skin is less dry, though the change is not as dramatic as in my nails. Collagen is one of the very few supplements I use and with these results I will definitely continue.
