Brentford deffo deserve that point, but frustrating that we were so weak defensively, what a game tho
No they didn't, liverpool defended no better than Norwich. Their 2nd and 3rd goals were identical and predictable. If we had another proper right back all the four defender's deserve to watch the next 2 games from the sidelines.

Watch the highlights, the simple cross always came in from our left and they always had three players surrounding trent. So infact their main attacking Threat and actions happened on our right. that was where the real danger was.

Liverpool games are usually always cracking games that's why the broadcasters always scramble to get as many Liverpool games as they can. It's not just the tactics but most of the team are in there prime even if there squad isn't as big as Chelsea or city's there starting 11 is as good as both of them so it comes down to who gets Injuries first out of those 3

Incredibly comical defensively. Hopefully that's a lesson learnt else it's gonna be a hard season ahead. Konaté and Tsimikas in for Matip and Robertson.

You can see the difference in corner takers as well. Trent and Robbo corner kicks can barely pass the first man while last week all our 3 goals came from corners taken by tsimikas

Brentford's goals were really bizzarre. I don't want to take the merit away from them but Liverpool's defence made a lot key mistakes.
True. All 3 were bizarre, scrappy goals. But at the end of the day, the LFC players failed to clear them.

This was one of the more lazy defense performances I’ve seen from this squad. We’re blessed to have a decent set of attacking players to keep us in it.
the most frustating is brenford 2nd goal. We let TAA take 1v3 situation. VvD is out of position. I think we need 2 CB stay in center of our defense. Just look at their 3rd goal. Where's VvD? You expect Jota become CB in that kind situation?

Bad defense this time. especially the centre-backs.
I observed our defense was overwhelmed. The Bees tactic was very simple. Whenever they crossed or lobbed the ball into our box, they always had 4 players there against our 2 CBs. And their players were physically strong. If that was me (and it's a very humble opinion :)).. Upon leading the scoreline by 3-2, I will muscle up our defense and hit them on quick counter-attack. Switch to 5-3-2 formation, substitute Jota/Mane with Konate, substitute TAA with Milner/Gomez who can defend better and substitute Jones with Taki who has fresh legs & a quick burst to support the counter-attack. So Def (5): Milner/Gomez-Matip-VVD-Konate-Robbo, Mid (3): Hendo-Fab-Taki, Att (2): Salah-Jota/Mane

This is a blessing in disguise. After only conceding 1 goal, hopefully these 3 goals will wake us up before hosting City. Despite Brentford performing well, I wonder what the scoreline would've looked like if we had played like this against City.

Not really. If you see it closly, second and third goal comes from Robertson side. When Bretford players crosses the ball, Trent was left alone with 2 or 3 players surranding him. No help from Salah or centar backs.

We were 3-2 up from a screamer just as we were against ac milan but one of the key differences here was Thiago Alcantara. Someone who, just like Gary Neville said, when puts his foot on the ball. There's peace on the pitch amongst all of the chaos everywhere else. He just knows how to take the sting out of the game and how to take all the momentum away from the opposition. Someone who dictates the tempo of the game to decide when to go forward and when to sit back and knock the ball around to see the game through. Deciding the pace at which the game is played. Pure game management. Not to forget his formidable partnership with Fabinho. Something Wijnaldum did too to some extent. Going into the season with Thiago's dodgy injury record and losing Wijnaldum alonside our other midfielders made of glass without signing any back-up was pure stupidity.

Van Dijk was half asleep for this game. Also Tsimikas needs to be picked more, we’d have better crosses and corners and won the match with him playing. Nothing wrong with Robbo but he’s not always fresh.
Van Dijk has been underperforming lately. Seems he is always in a vacation mood regardless of the competition. Matip looks the marquee signing majority of the time.
VVD's poor positioning meant that he wasn't there to stop all of Brentford's goals.

Jota , Salah and Mane missed today but we scored 3 , in the other side there is no symmetry among our defenders and midfielders inspite of the high pressure from our attackers... We won't be able to score those 3 goals against other teams hope we can get over these mistakes faster.

I have finally made up my mind about TAA, he is a liability. Milner did a much better job last week. Robertson was not up to his high standards which made TAA's terrible performance standout more. When Robertson replaced Tsimikas midweek he was also subpar. The defense was a joke and were clueless when the ball needed clearing. Brentford showed fight and resilience, when unfancied opposition does this I find myself rooting for them.
Probably the game of this season so far. Our defence was really shaky and does not bode well for the games to come. Pep would be noting this down, and especially happy after his masterclass at Chelsea today. Come on you Reds !! Let's come back stronger.
PS - Curtis was the best player on pitch today. We shouldn't have taken him off. Elsewhere, Trent was all over the place, they really hounded him. Ivan Toney really impressed me. Kudos to Brentford. They are going to do a Sheffield United of 2019/20 at this rate.
