Hahaha Just as I was about to enter my comment on the accent I saw your little gem. Although to be honest, I never thought it was gone. He just started speaking much more slowly. Bless the Sheffield in him.
this interview was actually such a great one. alex never used to talk much, thinking no one would care but i think he's talked about himself more in this interview than he's ever done before.
Santiago Nasar Unfortunately this happens to a lot of musicians. Being on the road is not easy on the mind or the body. Drinking and smoking constantly doesn’t help. I am shocked by how much my favorite musicians have drastically aged over the years.
I love how he says that his favourite records feel like places you can go back to, for me all the records he created (be it AM or TLSP stuff, or the Submarine soundtrack) feel precisely like that and they have made up a very magical world for me over the years! I am so thankful ♥ *edit* : also can we appreciate him saying "so it seemed to make sense to me to name (the record) after a place and that was the only song title on there that was uhmm... related... suggested this idea, you know, eh..." (looks into distance, thinks hard) " *hotel complex* " if this isn't the most Alex Turner thing you've heard at least today I don't know what is! bless him
I’m surprised Alex didn’t dedicate the album to his parents. Also it’s really sweet and thoughtful that he wrote it based around his parents and the stuff he heard growing up as a kid. Makes me wonder if he’s been missing home
adam turner I think it's pretty cool. I prefer my husband with his beard that without, but I'm a beard fan anyway. He's had it for so long now it would be weird if it went.
You have a lot of his music to catch up on, haha. Arctic Monkeys have some of the best songs I've heard, with Humbug being an absolute masterpiece in my books. Check out The Last Shadow Puppets as well, Alex Turner and Miles Kane's duo group.
KingExcrementus lol i know, its been a month and i m just starting to listen to other artists again lol. I wasn’t so found of TLSP but i found calm like you and miracle aligner and i reaaaaally liked these 2 :)
I don’t know why people care so much about his hair and beard. Who gives a shit? It’s his life, his body, and none of your business. Respect his choices the way you’d want yours to be respected. Peace out ✌️
Elliot Gaynon he never had an American accent. He was pretending all along. Same as what liam gallagher said. You can't possibly go to america once and come back with an accent lol
I’ve gotta say I’m rather loving this Alex, it seems as though he’s matured a lot over the band’s hiatus. Definitely a decrease in arrogance, I think that comes across in the album as well..
Agree! Even though he came off as arrogant (the Brits speech), when you think about the AM aesthetic it kind of felt like he just played the role he needed to play for that time period. And it was awesome.
Thank you Alex, thank you so much for all the words and magic you work on this new album... I just heard it all, I’m Mexican so if course my favorite line so far is “I put a taqueria on the moon It got rave reviews Four stars out of five”
I love this guy. The Arctic Monkeys have evolved SO MUCH during all these years, I wouldn't even recognize them if I only knew them from their early years. Tranquility Base was really surprising and such a huge departure, I'm excited to see where they take their music next. P.S.: I really fancy how heavy his british accent is in this!
what a lovely interview Annie is hands down just perfect Alex is so down to earth and himself with no extra persona stuff and the Irish accent with the Sheffield accent are just beautiful this is so aesthetically pleasing
He’s talked so much about his family this time round. Visiting his grandfather and getting ideas for lyrics, his mum asking him on his birthday in 2017 what he planned to do next and a few other instances. He’s generally more talkative nowadays than he’s ever been and also more willing to explain himself and his thoughts behind his songs. Books he’s reading, shows and movies he’s been watching. It’s a little weird but I’m loving it
Why does Alex always look and act different with every album!! I mean look at the humbug stuff Alex hardly moved on stage with big long hair looking lazy !!!then on the A.m stuff he looked like elvis with a adrenalin shot he was so different in a good way !! And now he's changed again but talking like a Yorkshire lad again like hes going back to his roots or sumat!!!! every album is so different.dont get me wrong I love the arctic monkeys I just never no what to expect from them but I no it will never be shit whatever they come up with!!!
I'd also imagine that with each album comes a persona. Kinda like method acting but for music. He takes on a new vibe, style, persona with each album and theme.
If you're hoping the new album is going to be a remake of the first album or AM pt 2 then you'll be disappointed. However if you listen to it and give it a chance to stand on its own feet I think you'll love it.
Why people always say that he is high when clearly isn't ? it's just the way his mind and personality works, that's probably why he uses personas on stage ... And with "fans" like this, there is no room for him to be himself
This interview makes me so happy to watch compared to interviews in previous years where Alex sorta looked on edge he looks so calm with himself and with him music now
The new record is great!!..I've had it for the last few days and at first listen I wasn't sure because it sounded a lot like Alex's solo projects, which is fine but I expected to hear more of Matt's input, his drumming is always a great counterpoint to what's going on with the melodys and guitar. the tracks are growers though and I really like it..american sports, tranquillity base and 4 out of five are amazing tracks that seem to jump into you sub conscious after the fact..my favourite track has got to be tranquillity base!!

By the time he has answered a question I've forgotten what the question even was
same hahaha
Same 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 true I think the interviewer try hard not to get distracted too haha
hahahaha same!

You might say that the new album is selling like Ghost Cookies
Auden good story
Haha I almost forgot about this
I think I just peed a bit
Auden 😭
Best comment of all time
If you're asking, yeah, he's the same guy who did the Brits speech.
That rock and roll eh?
‘Well, Annie.’

PEOPLE..., ALEX TURNERS ACCENT IS BACK...DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY OR HOW HE GOT IT BACK BUT I'M HERE FOR IT.
X.E.X been on' bitter lad
Sounds wierdly fake to me? Dunno what it is but sumat about it seems off?
Hahaha
Just as I was about to enter my comment on the accent I saw your little gem. Although to be honest, I never thought it was gone. He just started speaking much more slowly.
Bless the Sheffield in him.
X.E.X because whatever you say he is, he's not.
probably cause he got sad since LG made fun of him for it lol
Alex is a gift from god. Look at him. Listen to his voice. Damn.
Amen. I feel like he is a gift for those of us who miss Bowie too
@@pattiecartier he admires bowie quite a lot too
this interview was actually such a great one. alex never used to talk much, thinking no one would care but i think he's talked about himself more in this interview than he's ever done before.
He's so relaxed. It's calming to watch this.

Watching this at 6am precisely, on a comedown of sorts. Couldn't agree more.

hi it’s been 2 years, just reminding you so you don’t forget about this
Damn, he is 10 times more British than two years ago.
Vasil Shkutov yes
Damn right
Vasil Shkutov ..south Yorkshire not British
Jason Bennett Yorkshire is in Britain
Dan McGovern never god I never knew that so somebody from barnsley sounds like somebody from Fulham. .wow
The most coherent I’ve seen him in an interview
😂😂
This is more input on Alex's family life than we've ever had in twelve years
Ruby Weatherill god ikr !
😂😂
I thought it was sweet! Love when an interview is a casual chat like this.
It felt so warm.
He must be protected at all costs
Waiting for him to call the interviewer by her name
He did in the begging of the interview, which is not on that video.
Some people don’t constantly refer to the person’s name they’re mid-conversation with.
he usually does, though ;)
part 3 of this interview @5:02 haha ♥
why does it matter lmao
This is the most down to earth I’ve seen him for absolute years
Alex turn from 28 to 45 in a couple of years
Santiago Nasar Unfortunately this happens to a lot of musicians. Being on the road is not easy on the mind or the body. Drinking and smoking constantly doesn’t help. I am shocked by how much my favorite musicians have drastically aged over the years.
Thats the truth my homie
Was he 28 or 29? Wait, he’s 29... no wait, he’s 28
@@ThomtheArtist-js9kp I think he's talking about the beard, dude

danty362 yeah it really is. A pleasant change.
liam gallagher criticism obviously hit him
Petar Blazevic yeah, think so too haha
Good job he's Wednesday anaul, I wouldn't like them half as much if he was a pig
It’s amazing how he seems to struggle a little during an interview but when singing it’s like he’s been freed
He's so open about the process of the album, good interview, well done Annie.
What's the interviewers full name?
@@taylorleigh7939 in the description, Annie Mac

Lucas Matheus de Souza yeah they’re amazing I can’t deny that
“Kiss me under the mooooons siiiiiide booooooooooooooOOOOObUH” I love that lyric and relate to it

"Yeah he thinks it's alrate"
Proper northern father right there hahahaha
jack fitzgerald anyone with a dad from Yorkshire can legit say this is their reaction to pretty much everything and anything
Wait are we talking about the north or yorkshire? Pick one :P
Supersonic Ox
Yorkshire is in the north
I mean, barely pal
Supersonic Ox
Yeah, but come on. It would just be weird for it not to be.
I’m surprised Alex didn’t dedicate the album to his parents. Also it’s really sweet and thoughtful that he wrote it based around his parents and the stuff he heard growing up as a kid. Makes me wonder if he’s been missing home
An interview where alex doesn't seem high? Wow i have seen it all
I think he is a little bit!
HAHAHAHA right???????
Don't like this album but I think it's because of the amount of drugs he has been doing.
4:52
Martin Shields It’s a new sound to their old stuff but I still like it, like groovy lounge
always expect british men beards to show some ginger genes
Eusana Galilée haha so accurate. My husband has dark brown hair and when he grew his beard the whole thing came through ginger.
Ive dark brown hair with a ginger and dark brown beard, when it grows out lol. It fucks with me. You think its cool to have it? .... half serious
Let's just say it's super unique !
I relate

For a great writer he sure has a hard time talking lol.
ulas o nah, he thinks a lot. He has a hard time articulating his thoughts
Are all writers like that
Persephone Wardlow not all, but they think more abstractly and at times have trouble communicating them simply

I love this interviewer. she really listens to what he's saying. I'm definitely staying up all night to listen to this album in its entirety.

Literally read thus at the same time as the video😂
American accent is gone
Elliot Gaynon he never had an American accent. He was pretending all along. Same as what liam gallagher said. You can't possibly go to america once and come back with an accent lol
Well... to be fair he lives there for how long? 8-9 years? Not enough to change your accent tho i agree.
He was dating arielle who was american, might of been why
good riddance didn't suit him that much
