Arctic Monkeys are back with the new album 'Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino'. Studio Brussel sat down with Alex Turner to talk about the album, headlining Rock Werchter 2018 and other future plans.

he’s quite familiar with this interviewer as well. Him and Miles did one with him back in 2016 for TLSP.
i genuinely love this album. it feels so intimate and close to alex in a way that he's never done before. like you really feel who he is as a person, especially after listening to him speak about it
That's why I adore this one and the car so much. The older albums are my everything too but in a more nostalgic and energetic way, these two makes me feel so close to his mind state.

I look at The Ultracheese like dessert after a roast. I cant listen to it without listening to the whole album first. Don't wanna ruin it.
I’ve always felt that Ultracheese was kind of a matured man looking back on mischief in life. I don’t judge someone for their choices in life, but AM kind of seemed like that post-breakup period of partying after a harsh separation. Ultracheese kind of sounds like coming to terms with things. If that makes sense.

The cinematography was absolutely incredible. The interviewer also did an awesome job conducting the interview in such professional and easygoing manner, making Alex comfortable to elaborate more his thoughts, which always seems like a difficult task for him with interviews.

It’s totally intentional and he’s constantly in character. AM he was a greaser bad boy so he acted accordingly. This time around the album is more introspective so he is more introspective in interviews and is stumbling around his words as if he’s deep in thought.
Erick Rocha Stylistically maybe but in terms of speaking that's just how he talks, he's always been this way.
No, I can't really explain why but he doesn't seem to be that kind of person. It doesn't genuine and he isn't like that. I feel it's just how he has evolved as a person. His music reflects who he is and though there might be some exaggeration to his personality in the AM album (for whatever reason though that's just a huge assumption), I don't think we can say the same with this album.

I'd love to chat about writing and where Alex gets his ideas ..it seems a very tactile album that has an aesthetic that comes from a really interesting place

everyone makes fun (myself included because yes) of alex in his speeches and interviews but it’s actually more common than you think. i have this exact same problem so i just try to express myself in other ways such as songwriting.

You should be lucky living in LA man! I live in Kazakhstan and can call myself a big fan of theirs but the problem is that Arctic Monkeys have never performed in Kazakhstan and don't think that they ever will(maybe because we're not an English-speaking country). And it's also kinda sophisticated to understand the lyrics, not the content but the precise meaning of the words in that particular context🥲. And his accent also makes it a bit complex to understand what's been said, so I concentrate on the language more than the content:( I'm still incognizant about the background meanings of his lyrics but I'm eager to know 'em, I really want to get into it! I need some native friends that can open my mind into their world🤧
