I love Episode 3. I played it as a kid on the SNES, and the atmosphere of the levels was just great. The sense of dread and the unholy nature of where you are was really done well. The not-straight-forward way to finish the last few maps adds to the sense of evil, I think. You're trapped, and you have to figure out how to escape, and not just by fighting. They got the feeling of "hell" way better than they did the feeling of "earth" in Doom 2, which doesn't feel anything like earth at all. And incidentally I only just discovered E3M9 for the first time yesterday (I played through each level and then watched you do the same level after). I had no idea there were 2 cyberdemons in vanilla doom. it was very cool to discover something that new even after having played doom off and on most of my life.
I was killed so many times in those maps in the 90s, when Doom came out (the maps were strewn with Doom Guy's corpses), but you just blazed through them easily - and with fast demons. Those pinkies move so fast and you still manage to evade them.
I feel much better now knowing that really good players like you still spam space as they walk by walls as youve shown through this whole series this far lol
5:45 To get in those cubes with ammo and items, you have to shoot the back wall in one the cubes with the dead Sergeants to lower the pillar which will reveal a red triangle on the floor; walk across it and the low wall in front of the Sergeants' cubes comes down.
"Limbo" is actually AlitmaMantoid's favourite level, believe it or not. Oh and I've grown to enjoy "Unholy Cathedral" over time. I think it's especially fun on UV Pistol Start.
Very interesting, Gate to limbo e3m6 is actually hands down mt favourite of all the original episodes, it is perhaps the only map of original doom that forces you to think as well as fight and survive. every map i've created has this idea as inspiration.
29:00 A player beware issue with this secret is that if you save your game here the area with the lost soul will have a chance of having a hall of mirrors effect on top of being impassable upon any loads of a partially completed run. This is a known bug in console ports of DooM
5:00 -- I'm pretty sure you need to walk into the nearest "chamber" from the nearby elevated ledge. And then you walk with surgical precision from chamber to chamber. Personally, I never managed to get more than two. It's mind-bogglingly tricky walking.
I think you have to shoot a panel in one of those chambers. I remember this part and it's tricky, but last year unless I'm mistaken there's something in that room you shoot that lowers the chamber floors.
I was playing Ultimate Doom on UV without dying recently, and Limbo almost killed me. I escaped with 10 health left. And somehow still beat the spider mastermind. Probably my favorite Doom Moment.
