Much respect to the craftsman. This type of craft is dying out and what is heart warming is he is willing to teach and pass on the art..you are a national treasure..
His craftsmanship is exquisite. I am a high school teacher and concur with the fact that we need to encourage young people to learn vocational trades. A professor and school superintendent I worked for years ago told me he had concerns for our future because very few parents were encouraging their children to learn a trade. These days …… good luck trying to find builders, plumbers , electricians , craftsmen and artisans like this gentleman . (no matter where you live in the world). Beautiful work Mr. Skully 😁
Academia is taught too long. A child needs the basics until 10 or 11 then at 12 yrs a trade should be taught so self worth and self sufficiency can be accomplished. Then if you want to pursue academia you can support yourself
I am a furniture upholster and I would love to visit him in Jamaica I do love his craft. He is very talented and good. I do pray that he will get the help that he needs. Yes he needs to pass this skill to the next generation . Well may God continue to bless him in all that he wants to do for his people Amen.
This is authentic furniture making skills with excellent craft and workmanship! I absolutley love it!!! Thanks Wellesley for always going above and beyond to feature so many Jamaicans with amazing creativity and talents. I am so glad that Mr. Skully, has worked with his gift for so many years and kept this beautiful wood work process alive!! I pray that these old traditions will live on until the end of time. Good health and blessings to everyone❤💛💚
I say this time and time again that there should be apprentice workshop all over the country for these young kids. Instead of spending months in a class room they can go out and practice in groups. What a intelligent and passionate man with some valid point for the goverment to consider. We appreciate you. 🙏
Its so good to see artisans continuing these crafts. I take my hat off to this gentleman. Hope your work becomes more mainstream. Theres nothing like beautiful well made furniture.
Awesome! I salute the youtuber and the master craftsman... both contributing majorly to the positive development of our lovely nation Jamaica. Blessings.
I am very much interested in giving some work to Mr Scully, i need a 6 seater dinning table, bedheads etc.. i need you.. love your work... blessings to the most high.
Big up Scully, long time friend from Victoria days. He learned at the foot of his father who was the most skilled craftsman in Linstead. I am happy now that the world is seeing your talent
What a fantastic interview with Mr. Scully. He showcased his various woodworks and explained the details of each wood type sharing the benefits and disadvantages of them. I felt like I went to a class and actually learned something today. Today's youth really needs to get educated on not only in academics but also in skilled trades. Think about it, we can't live in computers, but we certainly need to live in a house and should be able to fix and even make things. Thanks again for this amazing interview with Mr. Scully or I should say Professor Scully 👍🏿
I am impressed. Such beaty! I am tempted to travel from the East to get my furniture and doors here. I learned a lot about woods today. Mr Scully seems to be an expert in whatever he does. Hope more young people will get involved. Self employment is where it's at. Being a businessman or businesswoman is the way to go guys
Taliah Campbell- I am an African American, not that it makes any difference but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated and admire what you wrote about mr. Scully! I have been telling these so-called Black Americans here and especially our young people trying to encourage more of them and especially Our Women here to get involved in and qualified in the Building Trades and especially heavy equipment operators! And I pray that THE ALMIGHTY CREATOR will bless him that his business will gain uncommon Recognization both in JAMAICA AND OVERSEAS. May his health keep in good shape that he can continue to HELP, TEACH AND BUILD. MUCH BLESSINGS AND PROSPERITY MR. SCULLY.
I am so proud of this man, hope the Government of Jamaica pay attention and become proactive. Things like these needs to be addressed. There are too many waste land etc in Jamaica and all they seem to be doing is looking after themselves. Wake up people. Nuff respect Scully, the king of Marble
I love this guy work. I am in Canada and i worked with my husband sometime, he is a wood finisher. The way some people build things here it's almost impossible to get a great finish. I am like that girl you see on the video sanding the door, that's what i do. Glad you show this guy on your channel. Neat work.
Truly inspirational. When I finish building my house it wold be nice to get even one item from him.I will have to check him out when I am next on the Island.
So proud to see this man great work be put forward. Very informative of how he explain the work. I’m an old carpenter, and this guy reminds me of one of my finish carpentry instructor.
Hello Vira! I have friends especially7 Jamaican female friends in Jamaica and I just called and asked them if they know him! They know him personally and have in the past and right now continues to have them make furniture and stuff i8n their homes! I am seriously considering becoming an Expat in Jamaica and when I do I will design and have my house built there! Needless to say when this happens I will employ him to build as much stuff for it that he can! I say to those young Jamaican Sisters there to learn this very valuable trade from this Master Trades Man and keep it going! Thank you My Jamaican Sister and Big Ups to you all!
His works looks neat and tidy, his explanation of his work is superb and he’s pretty much informative. I pray that God will continue to bless you and your work🙏🏽
Stay strong Mr Williams you are doing an excellent job wish more young people would learn the trade and keep themselves out of trouble our country would be better off today .Keep up the amazing work sir Scully. You need to have your number posted on the page though. Blessings
Fantastic work 👏 👍. JA has always produced some good cabinet makers. We need to train more young people to take up wood work skills as its an invaluable resource. Good work mr Skully 👏 👍
Big ups to my uncle Skully. He has been doing great work in Jamaica. It is nice that his work can be hi-lighted so that the everyone in the world can see how excellent his craftsmanship is. God bless him always. 🙏 ❣️
Exceptional workmanship. Thanks for highlighting my little Springfield to the world again. Maurice Kingpin put Springfield out there too. So much talent sad young people are not patient enough to continue these traditions and values
Beautiful work Mr Sully. As others have 3xpressed, it is sad indeed that the younger generation has no interest in learning a trade, makes you wonder, who will build homes, fix cars etc when they become the 40. 50 and 60 year old adults
Wonderful talent, and not hiding it under a bushell. U seed how a seed can be planted. His father was a man that the children loved to be around hence learning the skills. Now others are benefiting. This is pure joy. Daddy has left a legacy behind. How marvellous so now other people are benefiting. He presents as humble. You say he is a man of the cloth. Does he preach, a pastor and what denomination. I do like your shirt. One of My favourite colour.😊
Greetings my bro and friend! You have been a sterling example to Jamaica and the world because of the early training you received from your family and others who helped in molding you. Great effort was also made by you in applying yourself on to success. The minister of youth and community development should visit you at Springfield ,and learn from you ways in which to get so many delinquent youths across Jamaica to become achievers. Bro. Les. some constructive criticism I notice you cut bro Williams off while he was talking. You also may want to take a course in interviewing so you can know what type of questions to asked professionally so as to get the best information for the viewer. I agree with Mr Williams no one want to learn trade anymore, and yes even if there is a place to learn youths just do not want that kind of life, interesting point where mr Williams say they keep wanting skill for overseas but Jamaicans are not skilled. I will definitely be seeking this gentleman out, Blessings
Betsielee, I agree with you but since the interviewer is not a professional inerviewerev I forgive him. His weakness is his ability to listen to the worker for answers to questions he asks. The ability to listen is a big flaw in most, not all, Jamaicans including myself.
This Craftsman is a national treasure, very intelligent in every aspect of the word. His work should be displayed in the court area. Government should help him to see if he could get into the export market. I remember in the sixties and seventies furnishings manufacturing company on Slipe Road used to make and export furniture to North America and the other Caribbean countries. The name of the company was Modern Furniture company.
If I were younger, this is definitely something I would like to learn. Such beautiful furniture! This man is not only skillful, but also intelligent. He looks like a Fante from Ghana.
Hortense! Take it from me My Dear that as long as you are alive and can breathe I say go for it! Hell! I am 74 years Young and if I am able to make it to Jamaica I have already alerted my friends there to make it a priority upon my arrival to ensure to meet and greet him! If I am able to become an Expat in Jamaica I will work for him free of charge just for the opportunity to learn this very valuable but unfortunately dying trade! My Daddy God Rest His Soul: was what we call her in the US a jack of all trades and a True (like Mr. Scully) Master of four(4) Trades; Plumbing, Electrician, Carpenter and brick Mason! Big up Mr. Scully on your wonderful work!!! It is so good to see that woodwork and carpentry is still being cherished on our beautiful island. A man who loves what he do and inspire young people to get involve in the trade. Hope this video encourage the younger generation to keep this trade alive and develop a love for learning the trade. This is much needed and I hope this also encourage the government to invest more into this area as well. I learned a lot from watching this video especially on the various types of woods used for furniture making. I shall listen for the rhythm as I go up my staircase. Keep up the good work Mr. Scully and big up to you as well for highlighting and shedding some light on his craft.
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Beautiful Craftsmanship. Mr Scully is a true Artist and Craftsman. 💯💯💯💯 We need more like him across the Island to teach the young men their trade. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for highlighting the fabulous craft man shift of Mr Scully woodwork. In agreement with what was mentioned during your discussion with him. Training and work experience are vital to a young individual within any field of employment. Just from the short interview everything is shown and described spit on. Also what is needed is having a website where a person and individuals would be able to browse and see the wood 🪵 work and design available for a wide range of craft and shifts that do, the ranges of items for the household for the table, chairs 🪑, doors 🚪, windows 🪟 and musical instruments 🎸 etc.
Thank you for helping the gifted and talented people of Jamaica 🇯🇲. It’s a shame that young people don’t want to do manual labor anymore. The Lord said that if a man will not work he shall not eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10. Thank you again God bless your business.
Lovely interview. Mr. Skully is an incredible artisan and person. I'm looking forward to visiting this beautiful country and learning more about it from amazing people like Mr. Skully.

Thanks Deb. I will.
Scully and big up to you as well for highlighting and shedding some light on his craft.

yes, yes.
I'll speak to him.
Thank you for helping the gifted and talented people of Jamaica 🇯🇲. It’s a shame that young people don’t want to do manual labor anymore. The Lord said that if a man will not work he shall not eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10. Thank you again God bless your business.
Blessings
Lovely interview. Mr. Skully is an incredible artisan and person. I'm looking forward to visiting this beautiful country and learning more about it from amazing people like Mr. Skully.
